We want every child to reach the primary school gates confident, excited to learn, and equipped with essential classroom skills and experience. We want every child to push those gates open with a skip in their step and a song in their heart.
Our 3 Step Process to Give Your Child the Best Start:
1. Enrol in a Mini Maestros class.
2. Let our age-appropriate, sequential, inclusive music and movement program provide a nurturing and fun space for you and your child to make social connections, develop confidence and be free to fully self-express.
3. Celebrate and connect with your wonderful local community as you marvel in the positive developments your child makes giving them confidence and sense of well-being.

Hi there, we understand concerns around screen use, and we’d like to clarify how music is delivered in our classes.
Our teachers use a phone or small device purely as an audio player for short sections of recorded music that support specific movement and listening activities. There is no screen time for children, and the device is not shown to them.
Classes always include plenty of live music — teachers sing throughout the session and play guitar or ukulele, with recorded music used intentionally to expose children to a range of musical styles and instruments as part of our structured, educational program.

The host was rude to my child and I
The host was rude to my child and I - my child was excited by the hosts guitar and wanted to touch it. If the host had put it away out of her reach, she wouldn’t have bothered. Instead, she abruptly said to me “can you take her away?!?” It was rude and quite embarrassing in front of the other parents in the group. My child was around 19-20 months old at the time, of course she’s going to want to explore and investigate new things like musical instruments!
The other issue I had was the age group was too broad - 6 months to 2 years? It’s not very an appropriate. The session was too basic for my child. It’s no wonder she wanted to explore the musical instruments instead - she was bored!

Hi Erin. We are sorry you didn’t enjoy your free ‘Come & Try’ class. We expect that children need a few weeks to settle in to any new activity. Exploring the space and the instruments/ equipment are normal parts of the settling process, however our teachers’ priority is always on child safety. We recommend 3-week trials so that children have time to become familiar with the class activities and build confidence in the group setting. After this time they are more settled. In addition, our teachers carefully observe each child from week to week, noting their developmental stages and needs, and adjusting activities accordingly. 🎶 🐝💕 Mini Maestros

Great teacher, fun activities and great to assist with developmental play (ideas for home and actual development). We also couldn’t make a few of the weeks and the admin team were incredibly accommodating and supportive

The perfect activity for little ones
We love our weekly Mini Maestros class! It's the perfect activity to get out and mingle with local parents. I love that the length of the classes match the focus of the age group (some other activities have longer sessions, which is hard on their attention span). My baby boy absolutely adores the teacher (Joanne) and loves playing and dancing along to the songs and rhymes. The program is sound. Each age group has a different sequence of activities which all grow and change with their development. Mini Maestros has been around for about 30 years and it's no wonder why. Highly recommend!

My son loved it so much

I like the intimacy of the small…
I like the intimacy of the small groups. However lesson times are too short for the cost. Should be 45 minutes for the price we pay and to be worth the trip

Regarding lesson times, our 30-minute classes for 5-15 month-olds and 1-2-year-olds are thoughtfully designed to align with very young children’s developmental stages, and to maximise their focus and engagement throughout. We offer a diverse range of activities, including instrumental play, interactive dances, lap plays, parachute activities, and more, to make the most of this time. As children progress to the 2-3 year old classes we extend the lesson duration to 40 minutes, and then to 45 minutes for 4-5 year olds. Classes are way too short and very…
Classes are way too short and very uninspiring. The lady was absolutely lovely but the other kids classes around have invested a lot more in longer and more interesting programs. You are being left behind.

Hi Lauren – thank you for taking the time to post your review. We’re pleased you found our Brunswick West teacher welcoming. Our classes for 5-15 month olds run for 30 minutes. This is an optimal time to match babies’ stage of development and allow them to maintain focus throughout the session. Each lesson for this age group comprises a variety of activities so that babies can experience music in different ways; instrumental activities, dances with carers, lap plays, parachute activities, prop and puppet activities. Repetition is very important in early years education as it is only through repetition that we learn. With that in mind, each lesson includes a combination of material from previous weeks alongside new activities. Additionally, for those students who want to take learning further, or enjoy our classes for longer, we include an online course with every enrolment so you can enjoy our classes at home for hours on end. Happy and gentle start to my little grandson’s education
I have taken our 21 month old grandson to Mini Maestro's this term.
It has been a very happy and gentle introduction to his formal education.
He started off very timidly but he has quickly grown in confidence with the gentle, warm and skilled guidance and encouragement of Shae, who relates so very well to little ones.
His language is at an early stage but he regularly says her name and “gar”, for Shane’s guitar, which he loves.
At home when we do things that he does at Mini Maestro's, such as shake a tambourine or hit a saucepan with a spoon, or say a song or poem that Shae has taught him, he happily says “Shae”. He just adores her.
Apart from the obvious benefits of an introduction to music, there have been so many school related skills that he has learned and enjoyed. eg. to stop what he is doing when Shae says “stop” and then resume as soon as she does; to sit on a cross in a circle; to pay attention to the teacher, Shae, and to do what she says and does; to follow her as she moves around a circle.
I am a recently retired primary school teacher, and I am so pleased that Alfie has had such a gentle and happy introduction to his schooling.
Shae, you are the best and Alfie just loves you. Thank you for all you do to make him happy and more confident.

Loved mini maestros
Loved mini maestros. It was great socialisation for my baby, especially after COVID isolation. You could see her learning, developing and growing each week. The teachers were all so talented and professional.

When is music class mum!
Our 3 year old daughter loved her music classes. During the week she would ask how many days to music and would sing all the songs she had learnt. Looking forward to next term.
