O.K. Customer Service, do not think their warranty is that great
I ordered a pair of "Milwaukee Leather Women's 11-Inch Distressed Grey Classic Harness Square Toe Leather Boots" and found a few minor defects.
I ordered from them directly, as I had tried to buy these on Amazon, and while the price was much less, in the $130.00 range as opposed to Milwaukeemotorcycleclothing.com in the $170.00 range, the boots from the Amazon store kept coming with defects.
So after returning 2 pairs at Amazon, I thought I would order directly from Milwaukeemotorcycleclothing.com.
I called and placed the order over the phone, the customer service rep was really nice and understanding; and assured me that the boots from them would not be defects.
So I placed the order and the boots arrived well packged and seemed o.k. except for a few minor defects! and 1 concerning defect: 1. A tiny divet on the right boot toe, 2. The right boot was a tiny bit shorter than the left (not enought to adversely affect the fit), and 3. There were 2 screws on both heels which were rusted.
I was concerned about the rusted screws as how can you fix that? They would corrode over time. So I wrote customer service and asked if I keep these can I have a partial refund, as I am tired of all the returns.
They said to send pics so I sent pics. Then they wanted more pics. So I sent more pics.
Then they said they would contact their warehouse and let me know.
They wrote back saying I could have a 10% discount is all they would offer. Then they added: "Please note that regardless of whether you accept the discount or not, this item will no longer be covered under warranty, and no further claims or replacements can be made for it."
I wrote back asking why are they saying this, why am I denied warranty even if I do not accept the 10% discount? All I did and told them that I did, after sending the pics, was wash the rusted screws on the bottom of the rubber sole with lemon juice/baking soda mixure to get the rust off, and rub a bit of WD40 on the screws to temporarily protect them from moisture, so they would not keep rusting. (This after looking it up, and being advised this would remove the rust, and stop the corroding temporarily until I could get to a cobbler, and get the screws replaced (which is the recommended thing to do with rusted screws on the bottom of rubber heels or soles - after attempting the first thing, which is scrubbing them and removing the rust so they do not corrode, and putting a protective barrier on the screws).
I did not alter the leather or anything else, just washed the rust off the screws on the bottom of the rubber heels.
Boot manufacturers and cobblers know that using corrosive screws that can rust in footwear can cause problems and seek to avoid this.
But Milwaukee Leather boots have some boots with rusted screws, and some that do not: I had already returned 2 pairs on Amazon, and 1 pair had the rusted screws, and 1 pair did not have any screws on the heels at all. There seems to be a discrepancy in manufacturing.
Why this discrepancy, and why rusted screws on any boots at all? I called Customer Service again, and they gave me the 10% discount, but I was told the warranty does not include screws; only boot stitching and hardware.
So, I just did not want to deal with this anymore, being exhausted, so I accepted the 10% discount, which was nice enough, and will most likely take them to a cobbler and get the screws replaced. I gave 4 stars as they did honor their offer and gave me a 10% discount for the defects. I just do not think their warranty is that great.
