Very frustrating experience with Drivalia’s PCN handling. A toll/payment issue has been disputed for months, with both Drivalia and Merseyflow already involved in the correspondence. Despite... Se mere

Merseyflow pcn fine
Received a £42 pcn from Mersey flow for using a bridge , we had been guided onto this road and didn’t know it was a toll road until I received the pcn , absolute joke and daylight Robbery from Mersey flow and Halton council.
Subversive money making
We were diverted, due to motorway closure, to cross the toll Bridge. We were prepared to pay the toll, however there was no toll booth, so we assumed the sign posted diversion avoided paying the toll. We have now received a penalty notice via the post for £22, which we were oblivious to, ridiculous to say the least.
Mersey Gateway bridge rip off
13/5/2023 the M56 was closed. got shunted off and diversion signs were pathetic. Ended up going over Mersey Gateway bridge as we missed signs and as I was towing a caravan couldn't make quick manoeuvres to avoid it. Never used the bridge before, didn't intend to use it then and will never use it again. Tried twice to pay on Internet within 24 hrs, (no APP as I had no intentions of using the bridge), and it seemed to accept my payment, but it was not taken from my account. Received a Penalty Charge Notice on 02/06/2023. A bizarre communication designed to confuse any one without a BA in form design. No possible way to contact by 'phone, probably because they do not want to talk to any one as they would end up being verbally abused. This toll is a total rip off and has probably been raking it in whilst M56 has closures. The only 'phone number gives a menu of how to pay the penalty charge and suggests visiting the website. If it didn't accept my initial payment of the toll, how can I be confident it will accept my penalty charge payment? They seem to expect that every one is tech savvy with all the apps, but we aren't all 30 somethings glued to a smart 'phone, some of us are 77 year olds without smart 'phones! I guess that after 65 we don't matter anymore.

Sent a letter to me without my apartment number on so it never got to me, the Seb one one they sent (without apartment number again) was in the hallway of the flats (date on letter from 3 weeks earlier) I called them immediately and the guy/girl/woke was so rude and said I owe £71 and if I didn’t pay immediately I’d be sent to court. I told him you have my wrong address and they said it’s from the DVLA and it’s my problem. He kept talking over me and was horrible. This system is a scam, they only send the 2nd letter and always later then they say.
shite shite shite
If I could give Mersey Flow and Halton…
If I could give Mersey Flow and Halton Borough Council no stars I would...Absolutely despicable. Poor signage, poor communication and ridiculous inflated fines not in line at all. I went on holiday using the crossing and had issues with my phone and missed the 24 hour payment deadline. When I tried to pay I couldn't and had to wait over 3 weeks for PCN to arrive and then pay the £20 fine and also the £2 crossing fee I wasn't initially allowed to pay for. This bridge is just a money trap. Add tolls or update system to make easier for older persons as not all tech savvy. Really poor service and corrupt.
Incompetent monopoly
I set up an account on the Merseyflow website successfully with an accepted password. The website was probably the slowest website I have used for several years. It was painfully slow. I downloaded the App and could not log into it because it said my password did not meet their criteria (despite it being set up on the Merseyflow website). I went online to change the password and the page that showed my account details would not load and I could not access the page to change my password. They had a webform where I typed up a complaint and a request for help. When I clicked the send button nothing happened. There was no error message so I tried reducing the characters in case there was a (secret) character limit. Still no joy. Finally I typed in the shortest message I could but the send button did nothing. I then emailed the email address shown with my experiences. The next day I got a boilerplate email reply "I am sorry that there has been issues with the website being slow when trying to access your account". The rest of the email were useless FAQs. No response to the points raised. It is always frustrating when these terribly run, incompetent organisations have a monopoly and basically you can just "do one" if you have problems.
UPDATE: I eventually managed to access the option to update my password a couple of days later. The page took close to a minute to load. Once it did load it would not accept any password update because it told me that my password must begin with a letter. I tried all 26 letters of the alphabet in upper case and lower case and guess what none of them worked. Merseyflow takes my award for the most incompetent organisation I have ever interacted with. They're a bunch of absolute clowns. Somebody sort them out please!
Poor signage
Poor signage, went on line to pay it couldn't find my car. After reading the reviews decided I enter them manually. Got a email receipt. What happens if you not tech savvy?
Scam Bridge
Scam Bridge. 24 hours to pay before a fine given. If you have any sort of journey ahead of you, the idea of paying will quite easily slip your mind > PCN in the mail.
Not fit for purpose.
Shocking app
Shocking app, just taken over an hour to change my card details as it said my car/ email and account didnt exist.
Sort it out Merseyflow, this is far from convenient and you are far too fast with the fines when people cannot use the means of payment channels you yourselves provide.
I would suggest anyone who has made genuine attempts to pay for crossings to take any tickets to court as their software is usually at fault.
Don't use bridge
This system should not be able to operate.
1. The signs are not visible
2. There should be an option to pay on the day before you cross
3. You should be given longer than 12 hours to pay.
We are in a cost of living crisis and you are charging every day citizens substantial pentalities when they are not at fault.
I will be taking a different route to Liverpool in future even if it takes longer.
Appalling Payment system, designed to fail
I have used the Gateway toll 3 times and on each occasion have tried to pay without success. Each time the payment has failed. After the first occasion when I rang to pay the person I spoke to said I was probably trying too soon after crossing!!! The second time after 3 different cards failed I rang and paid via the automated system. The 3rd time again 3 cards all failed, despite my visa card taking a £1 deposit. So I rang again and then downloaded the app and managed to pay with one of the cards that had failed before. Is this total incompetence???
Total crap payment service
Total crap payment service, try to pay 5 times in a row and guess what - dosnt work... have to waste 15 minutes waiting then to answert the phone, waste of time. best solution AVOID bridge...
SCAM / AVOID!!!
Read all below reviews and above! Such a scam this bridge - avoid at all costs or get a fine! So surprised its legal - absolute legalised fraud!!

Not been fined so no sour grapes with this review.I'm a service enginner covering the North West England and North Wales.I first used the Mersey crossing shortly after opening. The payment system was so time consuming with an archaic web site I haven't used it for a couple of years.I gave it a second chance today. An app that will not let you set up an account.A web page that doesn't confirm payment or provide receipts. With this company being notorious in the North west and North Wales I had to ring up and confirm that my payment had processed. Fearing the usual exorbitant fines. So my advice is drive to the Warrington turn off.Yes it maybe a few more minutes and miles. But the hassle of paying for the crossing isn't worth it.The engineer I was working with regularly works on either side of the river. He told me he would rather add 20 minutes to his day than deal with the company.

Zero signage to notify anyone that its toll. Corrupt scum… and you know the councillors are being bribed to ignore this…
Don’t worry hell has a special place for the corrupt.
Corrupt company
Corrupt company! Crossed Mersyflow in 29 july 2022 and must have forgotten to pay online that day.
The firts contact i got was from a debt collector on 29 march 2023 asking for £146!
Reading the Mersy flow reviews it seems that this is a common way they make lots of cash.
Criminals!
I will never use that bridge again!
Badly designed for maximum fines
Due to road works I was forced to use this new bridge, no signage or how to pay, and after 11 months I now have bailiffs at my house for £381
Total lack of signage
We never saw any signage about a toll charge on the Silver Jubilee Bridge Northbound road so received a nasty surprise of a £20 penalty charge (or £40 if not paid within 14 days). It was clear on the southbound route so we paid the £2 charge once home. Feel this is a money maker and not sure who to complain too so starting here!
