Irregular Surcharges, Operational Red Flags, and Security Concerns
I attempted to check in on 8 April 2026 and was immediately met with a series of highly irregular demands. Despite a digital confirmation stating all fees were paid, the receptionist insisted on a "City Tax" surcharge, claiming Agoda does not include it. This was a direct contradiction of my booking terms and felt like a deliberate financial "set-up."
The staff’s behaviour was deeply suspicious—the receptionist appeared unable to make basic decisions without "consulting" someone and bizarrely offered to let me speak with the "owner" of the company to resolve a simple booking discrepancy. Furthermore, despite a 14:00 check-in time, the room was still "being cleaned" well past 15:00.
The room finally assigned was on the ground floor, directly adjacent to a car park with a window positioned inches from a vehicle—a major red flag for anyone concerned with noise harassment or privacy. Also, the floor had a latch that could be opened. When I requested a change, they attempted to demand even more money. I returned the keys and left. This establishment prioritises financial attrition over professional hospitality and safety. Not recommended.
Ps. No refund was issued in accordance with their policy to pay upfront and not offer refunds.
