Lupine really knows how to put together a great tour for logistically difficult countries. I always have a fun time on their tours and see some amazing things.

The Mali tour was exceptional. Our tour leader was well informed both about local customs and the geopolitical landscape of the country and region. Attention to detail was excellent and our experience his constant focus - nothing was too much trouble.
Our local guide was great and lots of fun. An anthropologist, artist, musician, who shared with us the rich culture that Mali has to offer.
Lupine always bring together a brilliant group of like minded, curious people. You’ll make friends for life. Don’t hesitate to book with them.

They are a very reliable company, been with them in Nigeria, Lybia, and a few more unusual destinations. Always a pleasant experience has a fair price, and great value for money.

I had a great time visiting Lebanon with Lupine. We had a lovely local guide plus the food was amazing. The ruins in Baalbek were a real highlight too. Looking forward my next trip!

My tours with Lupine were two of the most memorable trips I have ever taken. I normally travel independently but during a lengthy trip throughout various African countries I decided to use Lupine for some of the more difficult regions, and I’m really glad I did!

I bookended my own private safari to the Masai Mara with Lupine’s Somaliland and DRC tours. My highlight from the first tour was undoubtedly feeding the wild hyenas in Harar – something I never imagined I’d be able to do!

In Burundi we saw scores of hippos in the lake outside Bujumbura and even saw one crossing the road right in front of us while leaving a restaurant one evening! But the real highlight of this trip has to be seeing the gorillas in DRC – what a truly incredible experience, and worth every minute of the 4 hour round trek!

Despite my hesitance in booking a group tour due to my preference for independent travelling, I am so glad I did for these trips. Lupine took all the stress out of it for me and provided two trips that ran really smoothly, with a great bunch of well-travelled fellow group members and friendly, knowledgeable guides.

Lupine is a solid tour company for anyone interested in very affordable tours to unusual places. You have to do your own background research, however, because they didn't offer any historical, political, social, or cultural background information, which could make the tours seem a bit like either like disaster tourism or like going places so that you can tell your friends about your exceptionally weird experiences. for instance, i understand that lupine's most popular tour is to north korea, with long waiting lists. offering no background information insures that tour members can return home with tales with which to regale their friends. but north korea got that way for many historical and contemporary reasons, and i think it would be better to learn about these and understand the context than to conclude that the country and its people are just weird.
as for my trip to ethiopia and somaliland, although no background information was provided, i thought the itinerary for my trip, which was to ethiopia and somaliland, was good and that our guide was extremely conscientious and responsible (except that i got COVID sitting next to her on the bus for several hours near the end of the tour after she insisted many times that she was coughing because of an allergy). otherwise, she was very helpful and handled whatever inevitable problems arose very calmly and deftly.
undoubtedly it could not be helped that some of the hotels where we stayed had no water or no hot water and no toilet seats. my room in hargeisa smelled like it had been recently fumigated. likewise we had some comical tour guides, also not lupine's fault (you know, 'this is a necklace' and 'this is a bracelet'). once again, it's important to do your own background reading and research beforehand.
p.s. i've seen lupine's )rather defensive) response to my review and just want to clarify that i most certainly acknowledge that it's difficult to find accommodations in places not frequented by tourists. also, i am sorry that i attributed the Covid problem to our guide; looking at the whatsapp messages, i realize that it was someone else who notified the group that she had tested positive. please accept my apologies for this. as for north korea, i have already visited north korea, though not with a tour group of any kind. i was basing my comments on the fact that we received no background information about somaliland but also about ethiopia, which was a little hard to understand, and from the comments of other people on our tour about THEIR lupine visits to north korea, which indicated to me that either no information was provided or that they didn't recall any information.

I have just come back from a tour of Sudan with Lupine. The itinerary included Nubian history, local culture and all that Khartoum has to offer. The local and Lupine guide were helpful, knowledgeable and adapted to what they encountered. I will be booking with them again.

My recent trip to Mauritania was my 6th tour with Lupine - they are definitely my favourite, go-to travel company. The local guides are interesting and knowledgeable, the tour leaders trustworthy, considerate and helpful - and combined with unique and fascinating destinations and a very competitive price, Lupine is properly a first class travel company and I can't recommend them highly enough.

I travelled with Lupine for some tours. Always groups with people from different nationalities. They have tours for many destinations in Africa (e.g. Niger) that we can't find on others tours operators. Prices are affordable. Good experiences with them.

Such an outstanding experience with Sascha, Lupine guide of the century. With all the practical difficulties of travelling in west Africa, everything went through without a hitch. All members of the group were individually catered for and given the most memorable time in Niger and Burkina Faso which aren’t the easiest places in the world to navigate. I will undoubtedly use Lupine again.

Why didn't we discover this company sooner???

The Lebanon trip was faultless, and goes down as one of our favourites. It was great to do the trip with other people who are really in to travel, Robert (Lupine Guide) was great and definitely has the best job in world.

We will definitely use Lupine again.

I just returned from my first trip with Lupine. It was to Mauritania. I could not have been happier with this company. Mauritania does not have much of a tourist infrastructure, but they managed to find great local partners to ensure that this was an exceptional trip. One thing that really stood out to me was their communication. I booked this trip during the Covid-shutdowns so there was a lot of re-shuffling of dates. They ALWAYS got back to me within 24 hours of any email I sent. I will definitely be using Lupine for future trips.

Being in Medina was the most memorable and exciting part of the tour. So glad it was available. But, the most of all we had great Guide Nick. We had amazing sights, from Riyad,drove to Village of Ushaiger, Sleeping in AlUla , Medina, Jeddah. It was a fascinating trip.

well done Lupine travel (again!) for a brilliantly well- organised trip. Crackin' itinerary with courteous and knowledgeable team ( cheers to Bob and Sardar !!) who were always available for advice and sorting issues.. and managed to "herd cats" with endless patience.And we even had an official photographer on this trip.. which was really novel and workedvery well !

I recently travelled to Iraqi Kurdistan with Lupine. This was my third trip with the company and many of their upcoming trips are on my list as well.

The journey was well organized and accomodating, with a good balance of organized programme and some free time in the evenings. A special thanks to our local guide who took us to a Monastery of my request which was not in the original itinerary.

I really enjoy travelling with the group as the other travellers tend to be well-travelled and have common interests with me. Sometimes as a solo female traveller I have felt uncomfortable with local guides or drivers when using a private tour (so never with Lupine).

That’s why it is great to have an opportunity to travel in a group to places where a private tour would be very costly, and with Lupine I will have no worries of local guide/driver because there are fellow travellers with me and the Lupine guide as well to insure that the trip goes on smoothly. So I highly recommend these tours to women who are usually travelling solo!

Another amazing and well organised Lupine tour. So glad to have had the opportunity to visit this country and see Leptis Magna, just one of the three spectacular UNESCO World Heritage sites that we visited within a packed itinerary. Excellent guides, comfortable hotels and transport, and the chance to meet local people also helped to make this a really memorable experience. Lupine and Libya, both highly recommended!

Lupine provides excellent, well organised trips to places off the beaten track at reasonable prices.
I went to the four Stans and had an amazing experience.
The itineraries were well chosen, the guides knew their job and the hotels were good.

Lupine always puts on a great trip and i understand itinerary changes, would have been great to have seen a little more of Tehran

I have just come back from an excellent 7day tour of Iran. It was a very well organised with a most enjoyable and comprehensive itinerary. I would highly recommend this tour to anybody who would like to visit this often-misunderstood country. Well done Lupine Travel and its staff in the UK and on tour!
