Link/Signal shares platform needs to be more accommodating.
In 2021 my shareholdings were converted from a nominee account in to certificated form some of which are handled by Link Group/Signal Shares. Unlike other platforms Link Group are not providing a portfolio facility where you can register and furnish security details and password *once*, to cover *all* shareholdings. With all the information technologies available, what is the actual problem in doing so? To trade in existing shares, have to register and furnish security details and passwords for each holding. Not at all helpful!
Update: 19/05/22. Have just noticed an article 21/12/21 where Canadian firm Dye & Durham acquiring Link Group. Is it possible the new owners may just make things a whole lot better for their customers?
23/05/22. Notice that it is only a repetitive stock answer given on reviews when they actually give one. Impression is that there is no intention to improve their quality of service!!
24/05/22 subsequent to the company reply. The company needs to vastly improve the quality of service offered to customers/investors. From reviews seen it seems the company are not actually interested in giving a quality service. Not that impossible is it?

Tips that worked for me when dealing with Link
If your looking to buy shares in a company that uses Link Asset Management to manage their share transactions & share holder relationship, DON'T buy find another company to invest in!
If, like me, you were left shares and have to deal with Link below are a few tips.
Always use a signed for service when sending anything to Link.
That way you can prove the envelope arrived when they claim it hasn't.
If you are only putting a few items in the envelope take pictures on your phone of the items and of them going into the envelope and the envelope sealed up.
If you are sending a batch of share certificates make a list of the shares noting the unique certificate reference number, the number of shares each certificate covers and the date the certificate was issued. Make sure you include this list, preferably ticked of as you put each certificate into the envelope.
When they state that you have not included all the share certificates and that they can fix this for a fee (this is one of their regular tactics) get them to admit they have the list you sent and then refer them to it stating how would I know the certificate reference number if I had not had all the certificates and that they can see from the ticks that I included them all in the package.
You normally have to chase Link and when they say that someone will be in touch by phone or email to provide an update, they won't. Finally there are two levels of customer service. The lower tier is the one dealing with an individual company and a higher one whose phone number and email address is available via the Link website. It is the higher one you will need to go to if the individual company one continues to maintain that you have not sent all the shares.

I have more than £1000 in shares stuck in this company due to an IT glitch. This has been going on since January. Every time i call it is impossible to speak to anyone. you can only leave messages for them to get back to you in 5 days - they never do. I raised a complaint in 18th January they said they would look into it and every 2 weeks they send me a letter NOT EVEN THE COURTESY OF a CALL to tell me they are still looking into it the last letter i had from JANE WESTERBY whos works in quality assurance was dates 23rd of march saying i would get my answer in 2 weeks still no call not letter nothing. I need this money i cant pay off a credit card and its racking up £30 a month in interest. is they write below this message telling me to contact them about this issues this is LIES they have my number all my details i have a pending complaint they know everything about this and are choosing to IGNORE Me DO NOT NOT NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY

Woeful, inept, unhelpful, inefficient, shambles, incompetent - the list goes on.
I work for a firm of solicitors and we are trying to deal with Link to process shares held in an estate with SEE plc (why do these companies continue to use these Registrars??). They took more than six months to revert to us, meaning we had to lodge paperwork with HMRC based on the information we held on file, and they refuse to acknowledge that their delays resulted in the number of shares detailed on the paperwork being incorrect, and are now insisting on an Eik to Confirmation which is an additional cost of £200 in court expenses to the estate, but they refuse to acknowledge that their delays resulted in the error and won't settle the sum payable. If this was an English estate, Link would accept the paperwork we have lodged without question (confirmed by two of their customer advisors by telephone) but as it is a Scottish estate they are insisting on the Eik being produced, despite the fact that all other information we have provided to them is correct. They have no customer "service"; they have lied to the Executor and produced a letter which they say they emailed to us in December, but which we only received in March. This letter was only produced when the Executor contacted them direct, despite us emailing them (as no telephone line to their complaints team!!) regularly between November and March. They are unscrupulous to say the least. I am not in the least bit surprised to see that they have a 97% negative rating, the only thing which does surprise me is that it is not 100% negative. Their whole "service" is woefully inept. A truly, truly, dreadful company.

After updating my records, which took 2 attempts over 4 weeks,I was finally in a position to ask for my investor code. After requesting (to this date) 6 times still nothing. Because of their laziness, the shares I wanted to deal in have gone down now so they have lost me money. Todays post been and gone and even though they say they would send out 1st Class Recorded Post still nothing. People thinking of using these people DON'T keep well away.

All a bit of a shame really, I sell some shares, I count up the certificates, I check and check, I post them off recorded delivery the day I trade…I hear nothing, I chase up and now 1 certificate is lost…. So everything on hold…while Link investigates the post room…

Just the most woeful, chaotic, old fashioned, disorganised, unhelpful organisation ever. On a par with Equiniti in being useless. How these organisations get away with it is a mystery to me. Appalling. Avoid at all costs. I am losing the will to live dealing with them try to sort out my late Mum's estate.

Sadly I had no choice but to use them!
Sadly I had no choice but to deal with this company who are registrars for shares I needed to dispose of in my role as executor for a deceased friend.
I started dealing with them over a year ago. I have promptly supplied documents and share certificates. But shares remain unsold or transferred. Its almost impossible to contact by phone and when you can the helpline is not empowered to, err, help!
I've now filed a formal complaint to the Financial Reporting Council. If possible avoid this firm or if you use it, have more patience than me!

It is also annoying that my efforts to resolve have resulted in a phone bill that is higher than the value of the cheque . i am in my seventies and this is making me ill with stress

Poor service
Link received my share certificates on the 10/Jan . As of today 18/Jan not received the monies. They send a cheque supposedly by 2nd class post rather than the modern way of BACS unless you pay an additional£25. It merely takes seconds to do it. RIP off!

One star is one star too many
One star is one star too many. I have been dealing with this company since the death of my sister in December 2020. I needed to transfer her shareholdings to myself and sell one set of shares. These are small shareholdings, nevertheless I am still waiting for one to be transferred. I will not go into all the details but I have had to call them on numerous occasions. Many times the calls have taken over an hour as there were so many errors to sort out. My last call was today. An item that was meant to be sorted following my call on 30 November 2021 is still "being looked at". They have absolutely no system in place to track the progress of anything. You speak to whoever answers the phone, they put a comment on the file and then it vanishes into cyberspace. It is not good enough, especially in bereavement cases. Every time I have to call I feel extremely stressed and it brings back painful memories.
I see there rating is 97% negative - quelle surprise! And they obviously do not care. I'm surprised the companies they handle still use them. I will be writing to Travis Perkins, Wickes and BP to ask if they are aware of the horrors this company puts us through and putting in an official complaint.

I sold shares on 03/12/2021, I still haven’t received any money and today’s date is 17/12/2021!
If the cheque comes in the second post today the earliest I could possibly get MY MONEY would be 23-24/12/2021.
Yes folks they will have had MY MONEY for 20 DAYS WITHOUT MY PERMISSION !!!!!!

I received an unsolicited offer to sell shares.
I received an unsolicited letter inviting me to sell a share holding, looking for dealing charges, the small print said up to 136 shares £5.00.
137 shares or more 12p /share would have cost me £416.00 plus 0.5% tax, they then had the cheek to say this offer only lasts until Feb 2022.
Compare that with H & L or H.S.B.C. about £10..00
Steer clear and put them out of business.
No honesty or integrity for a financial institution.
Very similar to everyone elses experience here. Had to use them via the company I work for, tried to cash my monies early. Been told various conflicting things over the last few weeks but still no monies. Promised call backs and updates that don't happen. Different teams seem to do different things but they don't talk to each other. The people you talk to on the phone don't know what is is happening. Going through the compliants process which takes 4+ weeks and will then be on to the ombudsman. I have strongly advised my company to review the use of this company and pointed them to the trust pilot reviews.
Link Asset Services - inept & inefficient!
Have had to deal with their " specialist" Bereavement Centre in Leeds for shares held by my late mother. They are completely inept & inefficient taking over a month to register & return the Grant of Probate despite several phone calls and chasers. They eventually send the wrong form of indemnity back and paperwork you send them seems to get stuck in a massive queue for processing/scanning. I cannot believe that reputable companies such as BP Plc & SSE Plc entrust their share registry to such a poorly performing organisation. Next stop the Financial Ombudsman & FCA.
Appalling company
Appalling company. My employer uses them to run their share schemes, so unfortunately trapped into using them. VERY unhelpful people on the phone and taking 8 weeks to process basic paperwork, whilst withholding my property. Emails are never actioned to force you to use their expensive dealing service (£50 a go rather than £8 elsewhere).
DO NOT USE THIS APPALING COMPANY.

Appalling service....has so far taken 8 months not to sell one shareholding belonging to my late mother in law. Have sent numerous documents paid them money etc etc and now they want more money because they claim the Share Certificates are not valid ! Never ever deal with Link if you have any choice at all they are utterly useless.
A bunch of liars and court awaits
My mother in-law passed away over two years ago. We’ve tried to transfer her shares to my father in-law only to have to pay £180 for an indemnity insurance replacement certificate which took over 12 months to sort. They now allege it was posted in September but we’ve not received it. They said it was posted signed for, now they say it wasn’t. They lie and lie and lie so we’ve lodged a complaint with the Financial Services Authority who to date are slow from acting and it’s causing a great deal of stress to my father in-law, and us having to sort it. Sadly the company the shares are held with chose these people but if you’ve got a choice, avoid at all costs, they just lie. Looks like court action soon.
