Libby's customer service is abysmal!
The website app doesn't work. The toll free number is useless as well. Con Agra foods sucks when it comes to customer complaints. I'm overdue for my refund for 2 bad can's of libby's pineapple slices in which I mailed the labels to the company!
Worst reading app available
Getting help is impossible. When you do get a book it's on the last page and you have to scroll all the way back to the first page. If you try to type or touch the second chapte in the table of contents , or the sixth chapter when you return to the book it won't respond. You have to scroll all the way through the boot to get to where you left off. It does not synchronize with any other of your devices even if you've asked it to. it's a terrible app!
I love listening to the books but hate the wait.
I love listening to the books, but I don't like how long you have to wait for a book. Recently it said a book would be ready soon and I was 1st in line. The next time I checked it said I was 2nd as nd it would be up to 2 weeks wait! This was very frustrating!
Overall I'm very happy with the App
Overall I'm very happy with the App. I love to listen to audible books. I like that it tells you when you borrowed the book. I like that when you download the book it's all there. My gripe with Libby is that when you search you need to scroll to the very end to find a good book. Whenever I start to search I'm offered Freda McFaFadden. I think her books are dreadful. I don't get why she is so aggressively marketed. Once you get past Freda you're offered no 2 or 3 in a series. There are lots of books with series. I now go straight to the end where I find gems like Rivers in the Sky.
Good app, enjoying it so far.
Great app would be good though if there was more selection and access to full series of books.
Libby is a horrible app
Libby is a horrible app. I have a great range of e-books available through my library. Accessing them through Overdrive is has been impossible for weeks; the library advise they have a longstanding software glitch. So I am forced to use Libby. Why does Libby, an app that is meant to help us reach thousands of wonderful examples of the written word, insist on being a largely word-free platform, with cryptic icons at the bottom of the page instead of the top, minimal explanations and counterintuitive pathways? Why is downloading an EPub copy through Libby and not direct through the library website? And why, when you want to download an EPub version through Libby does it feel like you need to remember the software equivalent of a “secret society handshake” to make it happen? And why does Libby then tell you the e-book has downloaded…before the actual download even begins?! This is terrible software. Please, libraries of Australia, tell the owners of Libby to make this ridiculous app more user friendly.
Libby is an excellent app that works on…
Libby is an excellent app that works on tablets, phones, and PC's to connect me with digital books from the library. The glitches are in the PC app, where you have to remember to update, or your place in the book won't be saved like it is on the tablet, automatically. But an endless supply of free books at your fingertips? How can you rate this poorly? And it is free!!
Really awful interface
Really awful interface, on iPad, phone or PC, the icons are cryptic what they mean, the whole thing is counter-intuitive.
The idea is great, just really badly executed.
The best audiobook app
The best audiobook app. Most of the negative reviews here are about the range of books and that's about the library you use, not the app. This is the best app for audiobooks añd having multiple libraries.
This is difficult to use
This is difficult to use. Its difficult to find books that are actually available, it's not clear how to download the item if you do find it. It's bloody terrible.
It is a hideos app
It is a hideos app! Nearly impossible to search for audiobooks by title or author. When you find one, if you try and listen to a preview, but then borrow the book the ONLY thing this idiot app will open IS THE PREVIEW! you can see the book you borrowed but it won't open.
Horriblev thing, makes you feel like a moron. Makes reading a chore.
Pointless app
Pointless app. Member of several libraries and they don't have the books I need. Had to pay for Kindle Unlimited.
Search engine is abysmal and gives lists of books that aren't even available.
Filtering is useless.
A TOTAL FARCE
I had a book on hold for two (2) months and it let other patrons jump the line and I wound up getting kicked to the back of the line. PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT. WHY?
Should be able to limit results to own location
Libby is the only app available (for me) to access and read ebooks, so at least there's 'something' to use.
But the the limitations so greatly outweigh the benefits...
Slooow to load and access on my brand new reader device.
Extremely frustrating that you can't do the most basic filtering of restricting to my library only! WHY would they think that many / most readers want to be teased by finding the title they want, only to realise that their library doesn't have access to the item. Having worked with libraries / IT systems for decades, it's absolutely possible to limit searches to 'your location'
The app had a few glitches
The app had a few glitches. Currently have to let my card lapse because I can’t go into my branch to verify my card! I use the online service for a REASON!
I never use the libby app to read
I never use the libby app to read. I don't like it for several reasons why they did away with Overdrive I will never understand. But the main reason is when you have books on your loan shelf it tells you how many people are waiting to read that book. Why do I care, does that mean if there are 33 people waiting I should read faster or I should return that book without reading it so that the next 33 people can read that book before me. Who is the idiot that did away with Overdrive and gives us this stupid app.
It's great that it's free
It's great that it's free, but some attention to user experience would help tremendously. I work in user experience & would be happy to volunteer ideas to improve this app. For starters, if you could request books in a series in the correct order that'd be fab. I don't want book 4 in a series before I can access books 2 and 3. There is literally nowhere to offer feedback & there is no correlation between ordering audiobooks at your local library and online so it's guesswork at best. I lost access to all the audiobooks I paid for on Audible due to a boycott on Amazon. Surely there could be a social enterprise option to pay for books you don't want to wait 6 months for that could top up the library funding??
It used to sync across devices but has…
It used to sync across devices but has not for many months. I've been in contact with support and even ran through several exercises with them and they never could figure out the problem. "So sorry!" Now, each time I go to libby.com, it doesn't even know who I am and I have to re-enter my library card and even then it won't sync. It's rapidly approaching a useless state. And....they don't care.
Compared to the Overdrive app
Compared to the Overdrive app, libbyapp appears to have been written by people who have no clue about user-friendly GUI's.
