My experience at Spire Healthcare was 5 star. From the very first appointment to my last after care check up i felt looked after and in safe hands. All the staff and doctors were so friendly yet professional. I am so thankful to them all for giving me perfect eyesight, they have changed my life!

I had surgery with Mr Jonathan Ross. His professionalism throughout was superb. He compiled a great health team to resolve all issues quickly, which included further surgery, and highly effectively. I could not want for more.

Having been referred to Mr Jonathan Ross due to an annual eye test result, I had some trepidation when I realised that I needed a cataract operation. I was not aware, prior to visiting Laser Vision Scotland what it entailed. When I realised what was due to happen I have to admit to some real trepidation. I need not have been. The operation went very well and remarkably quickly. Three weeks later the other eye was operated on and went even better than the first; probably as the trepidation had evaporated.

Now 7 weeks on from the second operation I am told that I now have the sight of a 20 year old. Perhaps if the other medical teams at Spire could guarantee the same result I would seek other treatments!

I would like to thank Mr Ross for his excellent and painless operations, Ash for her great care before and after the operations whilst also delivering real confidence in what Laser Vision were going to do for me and the rest of the team.

I was wearing glasses from the age of 8 and at age 33 started using contact lenses. I'm now 58 and six months ago had multi-focal lens replacement surgery carried out by Mr Sanjay Mantry at Laser Vision Scotland, Shawfair Edinburgh.

This has been one of the best decisions I ever made!

My old prescription was around -6 and for the last few years I was jumping between distance glasses, reading glasses and contact lenses and getting totally fed up!

Shorty after two procedures a week apart my vision was fantastic. The procedures and the recovery all went totally to plan and the support from all the team at Shawfair could not have been better.

In all main aspects - reading, PC work, driving and distance are really amazing now.

The only issue i have is i don't have great really close up vision if i'm doing any fine detailing work and in a poorly lit room i can struggle with fine print but this was all pointed out to me beforehand so i don't have any issues with that. If i need to i use a pair of low power magnifying glasses for this but have only had to do this a couple of times in six months.

I would highly recommend this procedure if you're thinking about getting it done, based on my experience.

Having undergone intra ocular lens surgery performed by Jonathan Ross with spectacular success some four years ago, I had no hesitation in going back to the Spire Hospital in Edinburgh to seek help with my opacity problem again seeking out the highly professional and supremely competent Jonathan Ross. Once again I have no hesitation in ringing the praises of the treatment in general, the expertise of Jonathan Ross in particular. My vision is now as clear as a bell thanks to the treatment.
It is not an easy visit fro me as I live in the Isle of Harris, Outer Hebrides, but I am bound to say that the overall treatment was again excellent and I would have no hesitation in recommending this to any one else.

After going through a highly successful cataract operation, replacing the lenses in both eyes, I now find myself with clear vision for the first time in years and didn't realise how bright and colourful and world was. My experience of Laser Vision Scotland was excellent. Details of the procedure and expected results were provided clearly and concisely. I would like to thank all at Laser Vision and especially Sanjay Mantry who took time to explain the procedure and expected outcomes and whose exceptional skills made it possible. Presented with extreme dry eye issues (MGD) preventing contact lens wear. Specs were no longer adequately correcting my extreme myopia. Jonathan suggested refractive lens replacement surgery & my quality of life has been transformed. Not only am I free from lenses, I only need specs for reading (age 60, so expected!) and, through a suggested management routine & regular expression of the meibomian glands, my comfort is such I use eye drops more sporadically. Lovely staff at every stage of reception, assessment, treatment & post op care: unreservedly recommended.

I first went to see Mr Ross for cataract surgery having waited too long for NHS treatment. I had some idea of the possibility of lens replacement and was delighted to find out that I could be a candidate. Extensive tests proved that I was suitable for visual correction. Within two weeks my surgery was complete. The procedure itself was painless with my left eye being done a week before my right. I have worn spectacles since I was 7 years old. I am now 65. I cannot begin to express my delight at the results. I am glasses free apart from a pair of chain store readers which I use occasionally. I can see bright colours and I can drive again with confidence especially at night. I had no afterpain or postop symptoms at all. I could see clearly within 2 to 3 days. A life changing experience with no regrets just elation. Thanks to Mr Ross, Ashe, Sarah and Pauline. A great team. My husband was so impressed he is having his eyes sorted next month.i cannot recommend Mr Ross highly enough.

I was so impressed by the cataract surgery treatment my wife had received at Laser Vision Scotland, that I decided to have the surgery for myself. What a difference this has made to both of us! Two elderly people always searching for our glasses - now we don’t need them at all.

I really can’t speak highly enough of my experience with Laser Vision Scotland at Spire.

I’ve worn contact lenses for over 20 years and was always too afraid of having laser treatment, but a couple of years ago my eyes stopped tolerating the lenses, forcing me to reconsider.

My optician recommended approaching a couple of corrective surgery providers, and I’m glad I did as it made me realise the difference between Laser Vision Scotland and other ‘high street’ companies – for example Optical Express heavily pressured me into paying a deposit for a further consultation, and seemed interested only in getting a sale.

All staff I met at Laser Vision Scotland were extremely knowledgeable and professional – and this all helped put me at ease. After one of my first consultations –and before I had decided to go ahead with any treatment - Ashe showed me the room where the procedures are carried out, and this helped demystify the whole process. It was also extremely helpful to discuss the procedure beforehand with my surgeon, Jonathan Ross.

What stands out for me is that LVS genuinely seemed to be interested in the health of my eyes and on the best long-term outcome – and at no time did I feel pressured. I went ahead with LASEK treatment, which I personally think is a much better procedure than LASIK, and with slight monovision to help offset the need for reading glasses.

Like so many other people who have had laser vision, the procedure really has changed my life. I am so happy with the outcome, and firmly believe that Laser Vision Scotland was the safest and most trustworthy company I approached when considering treatment.

The staff at Laser Vision are very professional and the advice they provide is based on what you need rather than what they wish to sell you. My consultation resulted in me receiving the cheapest treatment option purely because that is what was appropriate ( I could have opted for more expensive treatments but at no point did I feel that I was being pushed in that direction).

They are up front in stating that they will not provide you with perfect vision, they cannot alter the shape of you eye which is what ultimately determines your sight. In adjusting you focal length to provide clear vision at either distance or close up, there is inevitably a compromise in ability to focus at other ranges. However they clearly explain how your vision will be affected so you understand before committing to any treatment. They are not in the business of selling you a pair of glasses (in fact they can't even prescribe them for you, even though they are opticians, because that is not their role) and only use the safest method of laser treatment or lens replacement. Both the outer and inner surfaces of the cornea are assessed for suitability before they recommend treatment, something which is not readily available with other providers.

Aftercare is also important to them, they book a series of return visits to check on your progress but at no additional cost. None of this prevents you visiting a regular optician ( who generally are not allowed to recommend laser treatment because there are no long term studies to demonstrate if there are any side effects over a long period of time) if you need a new pair of glasses ( like I said, you don't get 20/20 vision, the treatment gives you an adjusted focal length the same as glasses do so you may still need glasses to allow you to focus elsewhere, e.g. reading glasses if your vision is set to distance focus)
I am fortunate to have 'monovision, so one eye is good for reading close up when the other sees clearly at distance. Think of driving, you need to focus on the distance but also be able to read the dashboard. Neither eye does both but the combination works fine.

I have no reservations about the treatment I received and would definitely recommend Laser Vision at Spire to anyone who is considering laser treatment or lens replacement.

Firstly, may i say a big Thank You to all at Laser Vision for totally transforming my lifestyle basically back to how i was before wearing glasses.For many years i contemplating about seeking help and advice on finding if there was indeed a solution where i could be spectacles free. Ridding myself of the burden of glasses regularly balanced on the end of my nose so i could read close yet look over the top to see naturally into the distance.Glasses continually being lost, broken, forgotten . Working offshore meaning i had to wear vari-focal safety glasses and for close up intricate maintenance was not always ideal.
Having found my condition was called Presbyopia i did the usual internet searching to find what was out there on the market. Please be very careful when you research all these high street shops who offer discount and limited offers promising this that and the next thing it is never what it seems.
I then found Laser Vision. So i guess this is where my review really begins for them. From day one, i was made extremely welcome and Ashe took the time to carry out different examinations and tests to see if i was compatible for any type of surgery and also thoroughly explain possible treatments available should i wish to progress further. I then made my appointment with the surgeon Mr Jonathan Ross.
Mr Ross suggested my best option would be Refractive Lens exchange surgery. Mr Ross then explained the procedure involved and indeed costs per eye. Now here is where i would suggest if you genuinely want any eye surgery that can only aid, help your vision ,do not ponder over it like i did. .I waited over 1 year before i returned to see Mr Ross purely to ask some questions i had concerns about . Mr Ross put my mind at ease and i made my decision to have the Refractive Lens surgery. Because i work away from home it was scheduled to be done to suit my times which was a great help to me. Mr Ross carried out my operations and throughout i was made welcome, comfortable and in safe hands. Now here is the best part..and why i would say dont delay...wow it is amazing to have my vision back to normal without the need for wearing glasses. 20 /20 vision again and i am well chuffed with the results.
Would i recommend Laser Vision, most certainly and i already have suggested to a few of my friends.

I have had an amazing experience with laser vision Scotland. Having been born with poor vision and worn glasses my whole life this has been life changing for me. I was very nervous about the experience and was very reassured by the team Ashe Sarah &Dr Ross, I can now honesty say it has to be up there with one of the best things I have ever done. Highly recommend.

After very quickly developing a cataract in my 'good' eye left me struggling to see I met with Mr Ross to find out what could be done. He immediately put me at ease as I was extremely nervous about having the cataract removed as I was almost blind in my other eye, however I left after my first consultation having great trust in him. Not only was the cataract successfully removed but the lens suggested by Mr Ross also corrected my high level of astigmatism. A few months later cataract removal was carried out in my other eye - this turned out to be a very tricky operation. Mr Ross and his team were fantastic throughout and I can now see better than I have for decades. Mr Ross is clearly very dedicated and passionate about what he does and is a genuinely nice chap. I would like to thank everyone at Laser Vison Scotland for being so lovely and easy to deal with and would highly recommend the team.

After having very high myopia for most of my life, relying on glasses and contact lenses for over 55 years, and then developing cataracts and some double vision, I had bilateral cataract surgery in September 2017. This has changed my life. It’s amazing to wake up each day and immediately be able to see unaided (and to see things I never knew existed!). I cannot thank Jonathan Ross and his team enough for their expertise and high level of attention and care. Unfortunately I’ve had some complications with oedema in one eye. This is apparently very rare and I am still receiving treatment. Mr Ross has provided many consultations, often at short notice and out of hours and has always been available to answer my questions and provide reassurance. This has made such a difference because I am a worried and cautious patient. I’m confident that he and his team are providing the best ongoing care for me and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Laser Vision Scotland to anyone.

Being elderly and living in a somewhat isolated area I 'wanted' the best treatment, but more importantly I 'needed' the best treatment and that is what I received from Mr Jonathan Ross and his staff at Shawfair. I am still in recovery from my second cataract operation, having had my cataracts done a week apart. I know it is early days, but I have every confidence that all will be well. I trust him implicitly. He has restored not only my badly failing eyesight, but also my very precious independence. Mr Ross represents the epitome of a surgeon. I am truly grateful.

I had multifocal lens replacement surgery & no longer need contact lenses which I wore for nearly 40 years or reading glasses which I wore for 8 years. The treatment I received from Mr Ross & the team at Shawfair was excellent from day one & I'm absolutely delighted with the result.
