I did a lot of research into laser eye surgery before getting it done last year, and Laser Vision Scotland seemed by far the best choice for it. I found it reassuring to have it carried out in a hospital environment and in particular by Mr Ross who has a great - and well deserved - reputation as a highly skilled eye surgeon.

From the first initial consultation all the way through to after care, the entire team is just amazing. Particular thanks to Ashe who managed to put me at ease for every appointment and is one of the most friendly and approachable people you could ever meet - a skill that is incredibly useful when dealing with nervous patients!

I would recommend Laser Vision Scotland to anyone who is contemplating laser eye surgery. LASEK has been one of the best things I've ever done so a big thank you to all the team - I really appreciate all your care, skill and professionalism.

I am now very happy with the outcome of the refractive lens exchange surgery I had in November last year. The first few weeks do require some patience. In particular, close vision, vision in dim light, and driving, especially at night, took a while to improve, but I would recommend this surgery to anyone struggling with poor long and short vision and sick of glasses and contact lenses. Mr Ross and all his colleagues were professional, friendly, and helpful, and I think made the whole process as painless as possible.

With no previous experience of hospitals or surgery, I was careful in my selection of where to have cataracts removed and artificial lenses implanted. I was very impressed with the care and consideration given by everyone with whom I came in contact at the eye clinic in Spire Hospital in Shawfair. Everyone from the hospital and eye clinic receptionists to the surgical and nursing staff, and the ladies bringing post-surgery refereshments were kind and supportive. Mr Ross was factual and straightforward in his advice and explanation of the options, my eye examinations were thorough and detailed as were the instructions for post-operative care from the nurse who looked after me on both occasions, and the surgery itself was weird as an experience but brief and not unpleasant. With all anaesthesia provided without any needles whatever and no need for sedation, the surgery was truly nothing to be frightened of and I was further buoyed up by the procession of fellow patients returning to the comfortable waiting room appearing relaxed and confident. Although tired afterwards, I did not need to take any form of pain killer and the effect on my vision was immediate and, for me, remarkable. The week between the operations was awkward in that I had "new" vision in one eye and "old" vision in the other, but after the second the vision in both eyes is very similar. I would heartily commend Mr Ross' team and the Spire Hospital to anyone considering this form of eye surgery.

Eye surgery in both eyes for a multifocal lens implant was for me a scary prospect. Fears and uncertainties face most people approaching this, especially me.

I was utterly fed up with having glasses and lenses just for golf. A very inconvenient and expensive way to maintain sight as I hit 60. So decided to take action and see what the world of modern medical science could do for me.

It was much simpler than I imagined. The team at Laservision were fantastic throughout and after a month I finished with the drops and have been signed off by Jonathan Ross. I now have 20:20 vision! Highly recommended.

I have absolutely no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Mr Ross and his team at Laser Vision Scotland. I had cataract surgery (both eyes) in December but, as Mr Ross identified an underlying condition during my initial consultation, it was not straightforward surgery and did have its risks. However, Mr Ross took everything into account, made the appropriate adjustments and thanks to him (his skill,knowledge, experience, understanding, professionalism) and his team, the outcome has been unbelievably successful.

Because of the underlying condition I had a couple of wobbles - before the first op and between the two ops - but each time he listened patiently, outlined my options and gave his honest opinion but at no time did he pressurise me into doing something I wasn't sure about or comfortable with. I had and have absolute faith in him and knew to trust his judgement - my faith and trust were most definitely not misplaced.

Pauline was also fabulous; post-op I was so desperate to do everything right for my recovery that it was a case of "20 questions" which Pauline answered patiently and with great understanding.

Everyone on the team at Spire from Fiona, the staff nurse who did my pre-op prep and discharge, to John who walked me into surgery, to the members of Mr Ross' team in the operating theatre, to Julie in reception, to the ladies who prepared my post-op sandwich and tea was fab ! And everyone was always so very friendly, so kind and helpful.

My only mistake was not to have the first cataract removed when it was identified. I waited and then discovered I'd two :(

Would highly recommend Laser Vision Scotland. Wonderful team who were very supportive throughout the whole process. They were very patient, and answered questions and reassured me throughout. I had LASEK 6 weeks ago and although the recovery period is longer than with LASIK, the procedure is safer, and I now have perfect vision! My only regret is that I didn't do it years ago. Many thanks to Mr Ross and his whole team.

I have nothing but praise for Mr Ross and his team at Laser Vision Scotland, Shire Shawfair Park Hospital, Edinburgh. After attending a presentation by Mr Ross and his colleagues in Surgeon's Hall, Edinburgh at the beginning of November,I decided to enquire about having a much needed cataract removal operation at the Spire Shawfair. I was very anxious but everyone who dealt with me put me at my ease, explained what would happen and looked after me beautifully. Now, just before Christmas, my left eye is cataract free and my vision is greatly improved. Thank you to everyone at the Spire Shawfair.

Its not often that I'm compelled to write and give feed back over experiences but could not fail to do so for the excellent treatment I have had at Laser Vision Scotland.

I had considered laser eye surgery a few times over many years and not gone through with it but finally decided now was the time. I responded to a high street advert, made an appointment, had the tests but was appalled by the heavy sales tactics which at the first sign of doubt, resulted in instant massive lowering of prices just to get a sale.

Upon some more internet research I discovered Laser Vision Scotland and liking the idea of a hospital based treatment made and appointment. From the moment I walked through the door I was put at complete ease by the friendly, informative & highly professional approach. Tests conducted efficiently and thoroughly along with a visit to the Laser suite but most importantly my concerns listened to, questions answered and a real interest taken in my welfare. I had an immediate sense of this was all about me, what would be right for me and not just a sales opportunity. Over the next few weeks all my queries were efficiently answered by phone or email and after an appointment with the consultant Mr Ross, where everything was again fully explained and options discussed, decided upon my laser treatment and dates planned. The procedure was carried out with great skill and care, efficiently and again ensuring that I was put at ease throughout the whole process.

I would like to thank Mr Ross, Ashe, Sarah & Pauline for the tremendous service I have received. Nothing has been to much effort for them to ensure my experience has been the most professional and caring treatment that could possibly be delivered. Especially when one eye did not heal as expected and I needed further treatment some months later. In this case all options available were fully discussed with me, plenty of time given to me to see how I wanted to proceed and I was made to feel that the most important part here was to get the right outcome for me. The top up laser surgery was carried out in the same efficient and caring manner as before.

It was very important for me to receive my treatment in a medical/hospital environment giving me the feeing of being in very safe hands but also in the knowledge that my surgeon Mr Ross was very skilful. Another important aspect has to be patient/customer care and service. From the outset what I received from the team was second to none. From the first visit Ashe demonstrated truly magnificent customer care, building up trusting relationships through listening, care, sound advice and efficient and thorough tests. I truly appreciate the time she took each visit and to answer the many emails and calls I made. The obvious interest that she takes in you and time and care she took had a great impact on the positive experience I had throughout.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Laser Vision Scotland to anyone considering eye treatment.

My experience with Laser Vision Scotland was so good that I have already booked to get my second cataract removed. Everything was explained to me in layman’s language and all the staff were superb , from the receptionist to the lady who brought me a very welcome cup of tea and sandwiches at the end of my procedure. Follow up visits were just as good and no problems with parking. Don’t hesitate to have cataracts removed as it is easy, pain free, and gives you back your independence.

When I initially phoned up regarding cataract surgery I was immediately put at ease. I made an appointment for an assessment and received email confirmation within a few minutes. The assessment was very thorough and I was made to feel that they were truly interested in my wellbeing.
The surgeon went through everything in great deal and therefore I was able to make a measured decision. The surgery was carried out very efficiently and I was put at ease by all the staff. The follow ups were very helpful and I was made to feel that Ash was really interested in ensuring that everything was recovering well.

I had surgery at the beginning of the year and wish I'd had it done years ago. The whole team were amazing, the service was professional and the aftercare exemplary. Everything was explained clearly, and I was reassured at every stage, so my nerves were kept to a minimum. My recovery was well managed and I've had absolutely no issues at all. I believe that you have to be aware of the difficulties between the week between each eye operation. I found it difficult with one eye recovering & one eye a completely different prescription.
I wasn’t happy with my surgeon- let’s just say his attitude & manner lacked any sympathy or understanding of how one feels having an eye operation & how scared & worried one feels.
I cannot say that he did not complete his job with expertise but it was all a bit scary- it did not need to be!!!

I don't know where to begin in expressing how delighted I am with the whole experience and treatment I received at Laser Vision Scotland.

Firstly, the whole team is superb and make every effort to talk you through everything and see the different treatment rooms on your first visit, so you can begin making an informed decision from the outset.

What I particularly appreciated was the complete lack of any 'hard sale' - the polar opposite of my experience at one particular high street chain which shall remain nameless. After being given all the information I was told that any future contact would only be at my behest, if I had any further questions or wished to proceed.

It did not take much thinking about - I was quickly back in touch to book my consultation appointment with Dr Mantry and, that then being successful, the date of the Lasek procedure itself.

The entire procedure itself was completely painless and over so quickly that even now, five months on, I can't still quite believe something so life changing can be done so seamlessly. For the first couple of days afterwards you can expect some minor discomfort whilst the eyes heal, and a range of drops need to be taken for a few weeks but you quickly get into the habit of applying them and it was just second nature after the first couple of days.

I also appreciated the range of follow up appointments in the months afterwards to continually check my vision, where Ashe (the optometrist) was so supportive.

Without any hesitation I would recommend Laser Vision Scotland as THE place to go to in Scotland for your laser eye surgery. And all for the same price, if not less, than charged by high street chain providers. No competition.

Laser vision is made up of a wonderful team of people.
They showed caring attention to detail from putting one at one's ease,explaining the procedures and removing any anxieties. Everyone was kind and unhurried, whilst being extremely efficient.
