Hands down the best bib shorts I’ve worn. I’m usually a large in other brands and went with large and the fit is perfect. First test ride was a hilly 250km - 13 hours in the saddle and my butt barely noticed. It’s like sitting in an arm chair.

The shorts arrived quickly. Good quality. The shorts are billed as the most comfortable bib shorts, I didn't believe it, but it turns out to be true! The shorts are supremely comfortable on long rides. Expensive but worth it, in my view

Kostume is an up and coming micro-brand from the UK. I became interested in their products after their bibs received a perfect 10/10 from several popular cycling publications. Kostume releases all their products directly to consumers and only take pre-orders for limited run batches.

For instance, I ordered the "Spring 2024" bibs, which had a limited run of 350 pieces. I registered for the pre-order list in March 2024. I was invited to submit an order in April 2024. The product was then delivered to me in the United States in late June 2024. The total time between registering interest and getting bibs delivered was about 12 weeks.

The Good:
-The finished product is truly exceptional. Hand finished in Italy, brilliant chamois, otherworldly comfort in the saddle. This absolutely blows the doors off of every other pair of bibs I own.
-The value is very good. Compared to similar products in this segment, Kostume bibs are hand finished in Italy and sell for a similar/cheaper price vs competitors that use mass production in countries with poor labor regulations.
-The communication from the company is exceptional. The owner personally responded to my questions and was forthcoming about shipping issues.

The Areas for Improvement:
-The company could review and revise some of their automated communications to offer more clarity on the order process, expected turnaround times, shipping times, and so on.
-The shipping process was not ideal, definitely an area for improvement.
-These bibs are somewhat utilitarian - no pockets of any kind, even on the back. Could consider adding this feature to improve functionality.
-If possible in the future, I would also consider adding a simple black bib option that could be released in regular increments (e.g. every 3 months) in small batches. Although my bib design is fun and unique, I do occasionally wish I just had a standard black bib.

Overall an easy 5 stars. These have become my go-to bibs for all types of rides. I enthusiastically recommend these for any serious riders. Just know that getting them is a process (i.e. don't plan on getting them for your big Gran Fondo next week). One last helpful tip for buyers: these bibs have identical measurements to Rapha bibs if you are trying to pick your size and they run exactly true to size.

I try to leave it a while from receiving the item to writing a review. This is very much the case for items like cycling shorts.
I have now used them for a number of rides (only up to 3 hours at the moment) in various weather (summer hasn't really visited Wales yet) on road and gravel. In between time they have, of course, been washed.
The shorts are very comfortable and fit really well. They seem to be well made and robust and they wash well.
They aren't quite your standard design, and I still have work out which way to put them on - the answer is always in the pad shape. Not an issue, but it highlights how Kostume have looked at things differently. One slight niggle is the bib straps, which, positively are quite wide, but due to be thin material they can pucker/gather and need a bit of attention to lay flat (I just prefer that).
The ethical approach of the company is brilliant and should be commended; this flows through nearly everything they do and they explain where they have to use non-recyclable materials. Personally, I didn't have a problem with ordering well in advance in order for Kostume to keep costs down and waste reduced by creating the initial bulk order.
The designs and colours are great too.
I have also, over time, bought a short-sleeve top, a buff and a couple of caps. All are equally brilliant.

Bibs are great - comfortable and look good on. Chamois is firm yet with good level of cushioning in all the right places. Minor issue the quality of the brand writing on the legs isn't great, feels like it is going to come off after a couple of washes.

Shipped really quickly because what I wanted was in stock.

Based on road.cc's rating and my just started journey into the world of gravel/road biking, I was keen on trying these bib-shorts myself.
After having tried several other brands recently, I can definitely say that the build quality & materials used are beyond excellent and actually exceeded my expectations! These shorts really scream quality and shine in terms of fit.
Of course, only time will tell how long-lasting these are but as of now I am truly impressed.

Unfortunately the bib straps were sewn wrong so the color side (blue) is facing in instead of out

My second pair of bibs from Kostume. I just needed another pair in the rotation. My first pair is my kit of choice for anything big. But sometimes I'm slow with doing laundry. They recently provided the interface between my butt and more than 1000 km of gravel in the Balkans. No problems.

No need to hesitate--just buy a pair and ride them to death.

Item: Men’s Comfort Break Bib Short - Spring 2024 Large

More comfortable than Le Col Hors Categorie Bib Shorts II or my previous go to Gorewear DISTANCE BIB SHORTS+ 2.0 on any length ride.

To get into it, xrays show that my ischium bones protrude more than on normal folks and I suffer right away with any bike seat.

Kostume's pad isn't as firm as GW product but def provides more relief. The pad is a little wider. Comparable density to the Le Col shorts but a good bit more support in ischium's. Comparable quality of fabrics for all 3 with the size L being slightly more snug in thigh than other 2 but not restricting and provides less shifting/bunching on sides of perinium which is also prob for me. The sitching sim quality also on all 3, but the kostume clear winner on short and long rides for me. It was worth all the the wait and cost reasonable for fantastic product! For me comfort is critical and these my go to shorts alleviating the worst of the suffering and making 50+ miles possible for me.

Out of the package, my first impression of the chamois left me scratching my chin while my brain told my gut to shut up and trust what I’ve read about these bibs. There aren’t any flashy ridges and channels or “comfort zones” highlighted with graphics and perforated with lasers or any of that mess. I guess I’m used to being oversold products designed by engineers who don’t use them, because what my eyes told me didn’t in anyway match my experience wearing these bibs. The deceptively simple looking chamois is by far the most comfortable thing I’ve ever used and the selection of materials and construction of these bibs is exquisite throughout.
I’ve only logged a few hot hours on my gravel bike and a couple more hard hours on my mountain bike wearing these, but I feel confident that they will be my favorite shorts for many years to come!

I seem to be accumulating Kostume kit. The bib shorts are the standout. They're astonishingly comfortable over long distances (up to 600km so far) even without chamois cream. I also have arm warmers and knee warmers. There's a limit to how excited I can get about arm warmers and knee warmers, but the Kostume ones work well

I bought a short sleeve cargo jersey Edit 001 and the Spring 24 Men’s Comfort Break Bib Shorts. Firstly, i went too small on the jersey (which is cut quite short, not a problem though) and Kostume exchanged really quickly - very clear and quick comms from Ed. Secondly, I have now worn both on a couple of long rides and the shorts in particularly lived up to expectations and were very comfortable over long distance. And certainly more comfortable than my Le Col Sport Bib Shorts. The top is super soft and the extra pockets work well. The top is also very distinctive. So I am really happy. Thanks Kostume.

Really personal service. The bib shorts I got are the most comfortable I have ever worn. They are of superb quality. I took these on a two week tour covering 1,600km and they were fantastic. I would definitely recommend them.
