I’ve been buying from J. Peterman for years. Shoes, dresses, vests, coats, accessories. The quality has varied from excellent to Meh, but the items are always unique.

Back in March 2026, I ordered online a shaving balm which had been OOS for many months, but they sent shaving cream instead. It also looked like the container had been previously opened. A prior return?

I wrote asking for a refund. They said they would reship the correct item, but after I returned the wrong item. Well, that is extra trouble and expense for me, so I decided not to follow up.

Now, the website store is closed. There is a “jpetermanapperal” site, but it is a scam site. Too bad. Peterman seems to have collapsed.

Ditto my recent experience. I tracked the merchandise I returned by UPS and confirmed it was received by J. Peterman. This was 5/26/26. I should've received my refund already. When I reach out to customer service, I'm met with silence. Your phone numbers have been disconnected. I'm tired of John the AI assistant. I was a loyal J. Peterman customer for many years. Don't know what's going on with your company, but I won't be shopping with J. Peterman again.

Return my money, I returned your merchandise. it's been two months; I have postal recipe. We are writing cooperate and contacting, Ohio Better business Bureau.

I have purchased merchandise from this company for years with no problem with the quality of the clothing. Since January 2026, I ordered and received clothing that was sized mistakenly. A size 4 was huge. I was approved for a return/refund. NOTHING. I cannot reach them via phone because the number is not working. No response to emails. Chat might as well be talking to the wall. Disappointing.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I ordered two pairs of leggings several weeks ago - got an order confirmation and then...nothing. I tried emailing to ask when/if these will ship, and got an "AI assistant" response saying they would forward my question to a real person. That was a week ago. I emailed again and didn't even get an AI response. I thought maybe I ordered from a fake site, but no, my order is listed right there on the J Peterman site. I used to order from them years ago and didn't have an issue, but wish I'd checked recent reviews because something has clearly gone horribly wrong with this company. I've had better customer service from randos on Ebay. Outrageous.

Two items were approved for return. Three weeks after they received the return I had to follow up with numerous phone calls and emails regarding the credit. After notifying them that I was planning to turn the charge over to my credit card for dispute in 3 days time, I received an inadequate explanation for the delay with no promised resolution date. I turned it over and was eventually reimbursed.

Wow. I too have been waiting for refund...and see that I have lots of company.
All manner of communicative efforts have done nothing.
Sorry for all of your troubles, I'm in the boat with you.
This is too bad. Something has happened.

I was happy with this company until I got shoddy merchandise , the size of the blazer was listed as a 2x , when I received and put it on , it looked like a clown suit , with the sleeves so long it looked ridiculous and it fit like A 3x.
I bought it for 50% off and did not realize they stated no returns on this item .

I now realize that what they did was , received a batch of faulty merchandise and instead of not selling it , they decided to make a quick buck off fits customers .
I loved this company but will now never deal with them again .

I wish I had read some of the reviews here prior to making two purchases. I returned both orders, and have been waiting for the refunds for several weeks past the company's stated policy of two weeks. Clearly, the once venerable mail-order house is having cash-flow problems, often the first big lurch towards Chapter 11 and reorganization. I, too, was told that the company's refund mechanism was being fixed. Such hogwash! The probable reason its operating capital has tanked because of the crap being churned out by the slave-labor factories it contracts with in China . . . customers don't the "merch," and return it. Peterman screwed itself. I'd rather purchase a more expensive and better-made American product than the supposedly deeply-discounted stuff produced overseas from a country that hates us. Peterman can save itself, but it must come clean with its loyal customer base.

I’ve bought from J Peterman for years. Ther quality is very good. Just be careful with sizing. The only problem is making a return. You’ll never hear from them again they owed me money for close to a year. They promise it’s coming but never arrives.

Stay away- worst company. Returned a dress in May within refund policies and still waiting for my refund. As noted in other reviews AI canned responses and nothing else. Stay away- they are thieves!

I placed several orders that never shipped. No response from customer service except canned questions or replies. It’s like there’s no one actually working there anymore. Really sad to see such a deep and apparently permanent declined in a once great company. They’ve lost more customers and not just myself.

Have used jpeterman for maybe two decades...anyway a long time. It appears that it is finally a truly failing company...the last straw for me was ordering two moleskin shirts...they used to sell real English ones, but no longer. One shirt never arrived and their new Al said it wasn't backordered either and gave no explanation why it wasn't sent!
The second shirt was sent and turned out to be made in China with harsh thin material, not moleskin by any stroke of the imagination, not even worth $40, much less the Peterman price.....grotesquely overpriced!...save yourself the trouble with this once useful company: just go to Walmart and buy a nice cotton shirt for $30-odd dollars if you want a Chinese shirt. So I'm trying for a refund...we'll see how long it takes.

I have been a long time customer, and they used to be great in customer service. Not the case any more, I am surprised that a company such as J Peterman has sunken so low. Their return policy and subsequent refund is unbelievably bad. After reviewing other customer reviews, I can see I am in for a very long wait for my credit. I will never again purchase from them and will caution family and friends to avoid purchasing anything again.

I’ve been waiting two years for an invoice to be paid, and the company has blocked all email correspondence. We delivered the goods, but they continue to refuse payment.

I am a long-time customer of J Peterman clothing. I like their items. But I have been trying to get a problem resolved for nine months, since before last Christmas. Items are mislabeled in their warehouse, so they send the wrong thing. They always assure me that they will research it and resolve it. But that is where is ends. The customer service people are nice, but the problem is higher up with whomever makes decisions about the remedy. Nothing is fixed.

I have been waiting for a refund since January 2025. They responded once that they would refund but they never did, they have NOT RESPONDED to further inquiries I made contacting them.

Along with other reviewers, I have been waiting for a refund since February and it is now August. I have received letters (April 10) from the CEO, Tim Peterman regarding the breakdown of their return system integration, but still no refund. Calls to Customer Service are literally a waste of time. The service center is in the Philippines and they say all they can do is email the main office that is responsible. It is time for legal action. I would strongly recommend not making a purchase if there is the slightest possibility you may need to return an item.

I returned a pair of light weight wide leg trousers on Jan. 25, 2025. (Return Request RMA#OKQB2531) They admit receiving them on February 6. I have called EVERY MONTH since -to inquire about my refund. I have yet to receive it - BUT I have been assured that "Rest assured, we will send you an email confirmation the moment your refund is processed. If there’s anything else we can do to assist you, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to provide you with the exceptional service you deserve." "Exceptional service," indeed! I am also asked for "patience." I have none!!!! I used to purchase a lot of clothing from J. Peterman - but now I WILL BUY NOTHING FROM THEM. I'm sure they are going out of business.
