Fantastic course for novice. Anyone who has a camera and just wants to get the best out of it and learn the basic but very important techniques which really can make all the difference to your photos. Ivor was great, everything was explained at my pace with hands tutorials around the Northumberland coast line. I really enjoyed each session and was excited by the end of each lesson to practice the techniques shown. Always on hand to answer any questions between sessions and offering great handouts I would highly recommend Ivor to anyone looking for a bespoke one to one learning experience

Ivor was a patient and enthusiastic teacher. I feel I know a great deal more now about how to use my camera to take good photos. I had never considered photography as art but Ivor helped me to see how I could achieve a far more artistic effect.

Ivor gave me two hours of one to one teaching on one day, and a second session taking photos of the sun rising over Coquet Island.
He is a great teacher, with an easy manner. He managed to explain some important technical concepts in a simple way, without bamboozling me. He is hugely experienced, but clearly enjoys sharing his knowledge so as to encourage his students to learn more.
It was just what I needed to get me out there taking more photos with a real camera, and to put down my camera phone!

My friend and I took a Basic Photography Course with Ivor which consisted of three two hour sessions. We are both beginners struggling to get beyond Automatic Settings. Ivor has given us the know how and skills to get beyond the basics and be a bit more adventurous and creative. Ivor is a lovely person, very patient. We also enjoyed exploring the harbour area in Amble and checking out the cafes and fresh fish for sale.

Ivor has the knack of bringing out and seeing the best in his pupils, how ever advanced or amateur they may be. He is extremely patient and generous with his skills and insights. I would have no hesitation in recommending his courses to anyone at whatever level they are in their photographic skills

Another successful trip down Learning Lane. Ivor is so patient and The Farne Islands make a good studio so I had a really fulfilling day (good photos too as it happens). Highly recommend Ivor's training for anyone.

Very useful sessions which have helped me get to know the capabilities of my new camera. Interesting to be challenged and guided to look at subjects from different angles, consider composition of the picture you are taking. Now I need to go out and use the techniques I have been shown!

Ivor provided an excellent session with my family capturing several interesting family groups, both inform and formal, just as we had asked. The quality of the photographs is super. His relaxed manner put everyone at their ease from the youngest to oldest family member. His selection of photographs and skill in editoring resulted in an assortment of photographs that pleased everyone and will be treasured for many years.

Ivor recently did some photos for us with our puppy who may I add does not sit still for longer than a couple of seconds!! He met us at our favourite beach early in the morning so he could get the best natural lighting for our photos. We are thrilled with the photos and can’t wait to get some put up in the house. He did a fantastic job at getting so many brilliant photos of the puppy baring in mind she was so bouncy and all over the place. Ivor is so friendly, professional and fantastic at what he does. I would recommend him 100%.

Ivor produced the website for us (Karrma). The communication was exceptional, exploring clearly what we needed on the site and also making helpful suggestions. We even had a zoom session with Ivor to explain processes more clearly. We simply wouldn't have been able to get to this stage without Ivor’s expertise and knowledge. We were taken through each stage of the development of the site in a very helpful and patient way. Excellent!

I sent Ivor a scan of a 30 year old photo of my father which was still in its cracked frame and stuck to the glass. The emulsion was breaking down, leaving little white dots.

Within a couple of days, Ivor had fixed the glass crack showing from the scan, removed the telephone wire running across my father's head, filled in the areas damaged where the photo was stuck to the glass, sorted out the little white dots caused by the emulsion breaking down, adjusted the image so it was square in the frame and improved the contrast.

The result - a picture of my father as though it was taken yesterday!

A brilliant and amazing outcome, way beyond my expectations for a scan of a 30 year old photo in a cracked frame, stuck to the glass.

We have used Ivor a couple of times since our wedding which he shot for us years ago. He's the perfect photographer!! Delivers exactly what we ask for and when required disappears into the crowd so you don't know he's there.

His photography is great and I can vouch for his party and wedding photographs as well as his portraits.

Ivor produced exactly what I asked for and so much more. His approach was both professional and aesthetically pleasing. Nothing seemed to be a problem or too much trouble and so I could recommend Ivor to anyone.
