Extremely Disappointing Experience with Homesite Insurance
I am thoroughly disappointed with the service I received from Homesite Insurance. When I purchased my home insurance through GEICO, I was unaware that my home was insured through Homesite. I recently had to file a claim for roof damage, and the experience has been frustrating and upsetting.
The adjuster, Carl Price, was incredibly rude and unprofessional. During our conversation, I expressed that I did not want to continue working with him and requested to speak to a different adjuster. Instead of accommodating my request, he became even more aggressive and even threatened to close my claim.
To make matters worse, after their inspector visited my home to assess the damage, Carl Price called me again, making slanderous claims that I caused the roof damage myself and that it was not caused by wind, as I had originally stated. Despite having photo evidence from my roofing contractor, Carl refused to listen and continued to be dismissive and rude.
I would strongly advise against using Homesite Insurance, especially if you value professionalism and fair treatment. The lack of respect and accountability has left me feeling extremely dissatisfied and frustrated.

Been dealing with extensive hail damage…

Been dealing with extensive hail damage for over 6 months and getting nothing done. They appoint adjusters from enterprise claims service who are totally useless and lowball every needed line item. I have had one agent replaced with another just as bad at doing nothing. Go elsewhere and thank me later. Just found out that the field agents are employed by homesite, conflict of interest to not payout on claims...

Discovered problems already


I've heard good things about Progressive auto, and adding homeowners made my switch from StateFarm much more affordable for auto/home: a good low deductible and good coverage for the price. I thought...then I printed out and read the fine print and details. Looks like saving $1k on insurance might cost me $8k if I have hail damage on my roof with this new policy. Totally unacceptable and disappointing. Furthermore, Progressive isn't even the insurer...Homesite is, and it has terrible reviews and only 2.6% customer satisfaction. After days of intense comparison, quotes, conversations and choices my head was swimming but I chose Progressive. Now my headache is back again.

TERRIBLE claim service

The saga has yet to end. Please read my earlier reviews to understand what is occurring and the reason for my one star review. Mr. McLoyd, Progressive/Homesite’s representative finally contacted me on 11/25 and acknowledge responsibility though claim he has to recontact the adjuster and have him provide an estimate. Today is the 10 of November, which is over 8 weeks since I filed the claim, and over 2 weeks since they last contacted me.

Avoid Homesite

Avoid Homesite! I purchased home insurance in late August through Progressive. Less than a month later I received a letter stating they were cancelling my insurance in 30 days if I didn't replace my roof and put a handrail on my exterior basement steps. I didn't balk on the roof; it was almost 30 years old so their concern was legitimate. However, Helene had just torn through my area so roofers were far and few between so I asked for an extension. The response was "Sorry, we don't make exceptions for anyone". Luckily, I was able to get a new roof and handrail installed. Sent in all the required documentation and photos a week before the cancellation date. Two days after sending in documentation I received a partial refund of my premium, check dated same day as cancellation letter. I called every day and was told it's still under review, the underwriters are backed up. Cancellation date came and went so I had no insurance. Called every day and kept being told my review would be escalated. 10 days after my policy was cancelled, I received a late night voicemail that the roof was accepted but balusters were required under the handrail - the exterior metal handrail that was attached to an exterior, solid, concrete wall. Any underwriter that says balusters are required under a metal, exterior handrail attached to a solid wall doesn't have any business being an underwriter. I called and asked for clarification because that's just beyond absurd. Told it would be another 3-5 days to review. Called 5 days later and am told the underwriters came back and said balusters were not required so handrail is accepted. Ok so policy is reinstated, correct? NO! Why? No clue. But they are going to ask the underwriters and I should hear back in 3-5 days.
This company is a complete joke and waste of time. I already have insurance with someone else (less expensive with higher home value) while I wait on yet another review.
My advice is don't even THINK about getting insurance with this fraud of a company.

Homesite - not on your side

We had a non-trivial pipe leak in our crawl space that went on for perhaps a month before we heard the water splatter on the heating duct. Had it fixed immediately. A recommended remediation company came in after the plumber, set up equipment to dry the space. Accompanying the crawl space problem we had a whole house water cutoff in a pantry fail. This was easily contained by us but left a stain on the tile within the pantry closet.
Homesite sent someone to investigate the damage. This was, I suppose another company, Wardlaw that handles claims. He did go under the crawl space, said the job done by the remediation company was well done.
They responded with a settlement for the pantry area (I did not press to have all the tile replaced, which the adjuster measured for and removed that from the claim)
Their adjuster recognized only the small amount of work required in the pantry. I had a large deductible of $2500 so there was no settlement for that. They sent me a "DENIAL" letter. Really? That would imply a false claim which it was not.
They ignored or claimed they did not have the claim sent in by my remediation company. However when I called, the rep suddenly found it, it was "misfiled" he said.
Meanwhile we got a new adjuster, you can't speak to her ever, have to leave a message and of course there is usually no call back to answer your concerns.
I get the impression she is merely shuffling paper work because the only replies I have gotten is that "they" are negotiating with the remediation company.
They did make a payment finally the other day on the remediation claim but no itemized report of how they settled this so that I can discuss with the remediation company.
To add to all of this, the remediation company has made no contact with me on progress with insurance other than to send me a copy of the claim filed.
Where we are now: I was told in passing that mold remediation is covered by endorsement. No guidance on procedure.
"Talk to your claims adjuster" is the refrain on any question you ask, even if it has something to do with policy!!!!

I got my policy through Progressive

I got my policy through Progressive. I did the online appraisal, it went very smoothly, and the cost was substantially less than anything I was quoted by the broker I used previously. A couple months later I started getting a bill for $300 with no explanation. I called customer service and they said they had to adjust my square footage 400 sq ft. I asked where they got this info from and they said, "Sites like Zillow will give you square footage."

I sent a screenshot of the county tax assessor site, with a link, and they said it was insufficient. On my second call with them I asked how they got the info and they mentioned using a third party that gets that info. They couldn't give me any documentation showing me their numbers are correct, but are refusing my government documents proving my numbers are correct.

Now they want me to wait 24-48 for a call back from the person I escalated it to. Emails auto respond with saying to wait 7-10 days which is about right for the response I got. All of the call center people I have spoken with have been emotional, uninformed, and don't appear to have been given any authority to solve any sort of problem.

ZERO stars should be possible

ZERO stars should be possible. Progressive should not be partnering with these incompetent criminals.

They closed my claim for water and mold damage before the mold was dealt with and now won't return calls or emails. Absolutely garbage people. I'm stuck living in a hotel with black mold still in my house and lazy bums who won't respond to the company that wants to do the mold mitigation.

Homesite has outright lied to us

Homesite has outright lied to us. We requested a replacement policy and four years later when we make a claim, we see an ACV policy. Ok, well at least we'll get "some" insurance help, right? NOPE. They have delayed for nine months, forcing my contractor to jump through hoops to get any movement - and at the seven month mark, simply closed the claim. It wasn't until I filed a complaint with the state regulatory agency that they suddenly ALLEGED they were going to fix it, and that a check was in the mail. Two months later, no check and now it is with a "new" adjuster who is back to asking my contractor to resubmit the exact same paperwork for the tenth time - because, of course, the state agency closed out the complaint based on the representation Homesite had cured the issue. Nine months and counting of water infiltration and my kids are getting sick with respiratory illness, because of course mold is going to start to grow. Every other home in my community suffered the same damage and every other home had their roof replaced months ago without issue. Homesite is the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with, to the point of making State Farm seem great! Geico should be embarrassed to offer bundled coverage with them.

Homesite Insurance Co BAD FAITH INSURANCE

Homesite Insurance Co. is a bad faith insurance company. On Superbowl Sunday my home was robbed. I filed a police report, and promptly advised my insurer Homesite of robbery, and filed an online claim form, as there claims adjuster requested.. I was advised if I filed claim online, my claim would be processed quicker. After several months of talking to there claims adjuster Dale Anson, and there so called investigator, who did nothing but threatened and tried to intimidate me, my claim was denied. This company collects our premiums for coverage, and then does little to nothing if we need them for a claim. Homesite Ins. TREATS both "seniors" and "homeowners" alike, to better their profits, and ultimately deny their claim.. Policyholders who have been treated unfairly by Homesite need to come together to file a class action lawsuit against them in Federal Court. American Family Insurance who owns them sits back and collects there premiums, and helps them intimidate policyholders, as there adjusters, and investigators did to me, and many others, as I have seen on social media. Homesite employee's are actually employed by American Family. Steps need to be taken against Homesite Ins., and how they deny claims, and continue collecting premiums from policy holders. IN REALITY HOMESITE INSURANCE, A DIVISION OF AMERICAN FAMILY INSURANCE IS A DENIAL FACTORY. MY AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANY, GEICO, PLACED ME WITH HOMESITE TO HELP ME SAVE PREMIUM ON MY AUTO INSURANCE. Now I am unable to recoup and replace my property that was stolen, as Homesite Ins. has decided to not honor my claim. It is not bad enough that my home was robbed and burglarized, now it turns out that my property insurer is just as bad as the people that robbed me. WHEN FINALLY ONE OF THERE REGIONAL REPRESENTIVES FROM ARIZONA CALLED ME, HE TOLD ME THAT THE DENIAL WOULD NOT BE OVERTURNED. THIS INSURANCE COMPANY IS A TOTAL SCAM, EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK ON SOCIAL MEDIA, THE MAJORITY OF THERE FEEDBACK IS HIGHLY NEGATIVE. ALL HOMESITE INS. APPEARS TO DO IS DENY CLAIMS. I WAS ADVISED TO HIRE AN ATTORNEY, AND THEY WOULD TALK TO THEM, IF I EXPECTED ANY KIND OF RESULTS. AMERICAN FAMILY AND ALL THESE SECOND TEAR COMPANIES THAT THEY OWN AND CONTROL SHOULD CEASE OPERATE THE WAY THEY DO. AS WHEN THEY ARE NEEDED THE MOST, POLICYHOLDERS CLAIMS ARE DENIED. COMPANIES OPERATING ONLY TO MAKE EXCESSIVE PROFITS, AND DESTROY PROPERTY HOLDERS LIVES. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO HEAVILY FINE THESE INSURANCE COMPANIES, SO HOPEFULLY THEY WILL LEARN TO TREAT THERE POLICYHOLDERS FAIRLY. I HONESTLY BELIEVE THERE ADJUSTERS GET PLEASURE RUNNING THERE POLICYHOLDERS IN CIRCLES, UNTIL THEY FINALLY GIVE UP.

FRAUD ALERT

FRAUD ALERT - I never opened a policy and am in collections with them. I asked for signature authorization for WHO authorized this and they said they do NOT require signature. However, when I was asked to email them with a statement saying I did not open this policy, they wanted me to sign it. Make it make sense.

100% FRAUDULENT COMPANY….I now have a…

100% FRAUDULENT COMPANY….I now have a homeowners policy that I never signed for have no clue of this policy and now I am getting collection letters after hours and hours on the phone and countless emails. You have been warned. I have my attorney going to bat for me now. Shame on Progressive for working with this company.

Stole my money and canceled me

Committed a billing error on 4/30/2024. Won't fully correct. Have made 20+ phone calls to them since 5/07. Unable to resolve. Have stolen my $412 payment of my premium. Won't apply the $412 to my policy nor won't return the funds to me. Canceled my policy for non-payment despite me making a payment, and told me to take it up with my bank. Now I have no insurance, and I am out $412 because it was stolen from me.

The company denied me homeowner's insurance the reason given is my credit report. How can this be my credit score is exceptional. I have an average 833 credit score with all three credit reporting agencies and I have maintained this exceptional credit score for many many years. The worst company, bogus....

Company SUCKS!! We went thru a severe hail and wind…

We went thru a severe hail and wind storm back on the 15th of March.
I and had a contractor come and give me estimates and then Homesite sent out an investigator only to tell me via phone that they wouldn't cover any of the damages due to some clause about it only being cosmetic, and I had my roof replaced not even 7 months ago and now I'm stuck looking at dings all over it as well as damages to the rest of the home and my garage/ shop from the hail. They tell me that because of this clause the other damages are less then my deductible.

I could not leave a review without selecting a star. Homesite/Geico hired contractors to repair my home. Needless to say with several different companies in place and working 2 months into repairs with defective equipment in my home causing more damage on top of that homesite refusing to pay the contractors that they hired and all the ones I called to hire after I was told I had to find contractors my self.(After they ran the ones that was already doing the jobssss,repairsssss etc. they called, hired, and had in my home.) Leaving my home unrepaired with more damages that the contractors equipment did. And repairs that was started and never finished due to homesite/Geico not paying them but paid the contractors that was responsible for equipment leaking unknown large amounts of water for it. Insulation removed and without being replaced. Personal property damages never paid. And never a management over head to handle fraudulent, mishandled and deception during a claim process.

Please don't use this company

I had a water loss last September. I have filed numerous complaints with the department of insurance. I still have not been reimbursed for the high water bill or alarm company service call because the water shorted out the panel. I have not received any payments on my damaged contents. I have not received reimbursements for the cost to move back into my home. They have still not provided me with a copy of my policy after numerous requests from me. I just received reimbursements a week ago for my last month and 10 days of temporary housing from January. I would not recommend Honesite to anyone. The claims handl8should be the meat of the company. Because consumers want the assurance that if every they had to file a claim, they can be confident that their insurance company will make them whole again. That's not the case with them. They must be paying for their ratings because every site I check has the majority negative reviews against them.

DO NOT USE HOMESITE INSURANCE

I am pleased to add to the list of customers who are dissatisfied with this insurance company. My recent experience with them has been dreadful. I encountered a situation in which a tree fell on my house during a storm. Because they are opting to categorize it as wind damage, I am required to pay a significantly higher deductible (over $2,000). The tree expert that they sent to my home states that it was not due to wind, but they refuse to heed his opinion. The claims adjuster, Jordan Thomas, and his manager, Jared Matthiesen, were of no assistance. The claims adjuster never replied to emails or voicemails. The manager merely upheld the company's stance to prevent the insurance company from having to pay a larger share of the costs. I spent the majority of my time pursuing the claims adjuster for answers regarding my claim. They then closed my claim without as much as an email or a letter. They claimed that they paid two vendors for work done on my house and for tree removal services, but neither vendor has received payment. I will definitely be switching to another insurance company.

I would give this company zero stars if…

I would give this company zero stars if I could. They are denying full repairs of my house saying that the damage to the garage door and gutters is cosmetic and they do not repair cosmetic damage. Meanwhile the policy states in the hail and windstorm rider that, "damage will be repaired to the condition it was before the damage occurred." My gutters and garage door weren't hail damaged before the storm. They've now taken over 8 months to get to this point. If someone offers you Homesite, run the other direction. This is the worst home owner's insurance I have ever had. Gutters and a garage door may seem minor in the grand scheme of things, however it isn't minor when this company saddles you with a $7500 deductible for wind and hail.
