My new home for tone!
James is an absolute gent! I wanted a pickup swap and service on my Fender Lead III. James managed to fit me in despite very tight time restraints. My guitar now absolutely sings and is night and day when compared to the stock pickups. James advised me on what pickups would work nicely for my requirements and upgraded the pots and he was spot on! Home of Tone have earned themselves one local customer and I will be recommending him my friends.

Amazing Service Home of Tone
I recently ordered a wiring harness from James’s Home of Tone for a guitar build, and the entire experience was excellent.
Before placing the order, I reached out with questions about the components used in the harness. James took the time to respond personally and gave thoughtful, thorough answers that helped me make the right decision. That level of customer care is rare and immediately gave me confidence in placing my order.
Despite Home of Tone being in the UK and me being in California, the harness arrived incredibly fast. When the package arrived, I was genuinely impressed by the presentation. The packaging was carefully designed by someone who takes pride in their work and their business.
It genuinely makes me happy to receive packages from small businesses that still care about the details, including thoughtful design, great packaging, and most importantly, outstanding customer service.

Quality product.
I purchased a pre-wired Stratocaster wiring harness and pack of Swannell Guitars Ground Bugs. The wiring harness arrived promptly and was beautifully presented and the quality of the parts and wiring was excellent. Everything fitted perfectly and the Ground Bugs provide a quick and easy way to connect ground wires, negating the need to solder to pot casings. Highly recommended.

Excellent work
The harness was as much a piece of art, as it was a stratocaster wiring harness - such a shame to hide it behind a pickguard, and makes me really want to up my soldering game!

Wiring Harness
I’ve just installed a prewired harness for a partscaster Tele from James. This is the forth harness I’ve bought from him having previously purchased ones for a Tele, Strat and LesPaul. James products and service and advice have been first class and I would highly recommend him.

Brilliant personal service as always…
Brilliant personal service as always from an expert in his field.
I like the way he appreciates us older chaps do like our traditional strat (in my case) arrangements and tone but was able to offer modern innovations that I didn’t know about to deliver them, apparently my Strat now has a daddy long legs in it ! as well as an upgraded harness, switch, cap etc !!
… and his solder work is the best I’ve ever seen … any USA custom shop could learn a lot here !

Brilliant solderless looms for three of my guitars (so far)
Awesome wiring for three of my guitars. Super dependable, the guitars sound better and proper tapering on the left handed pots. Highly recommended and superb fast service and communication. In fact I’ve got another slightly more complicated task for him coming up. Cheers Paul Cuddeford The Boomtown Rats, Holy Holy with Tony Visconti & Woody Woodmansey and a few other name droppings.
