Useless.. can't ask anymore really...

Waited 30 minutes + to get through to Carol Beer computer says no! Just useless!

I have been trying for years to solve a problem caused by some spelling error in my surname. I try once a year, I call them, they ask me to send the information by mail, and then they do not reply to my letters. So I call again, they ask my again to send a letter, and so on...

Received a letter stating I owe £3800 ( this one week after I received a £200k refund from them for the same tax year! ). Rang - 47 minute wait for an operator. Awful line, sounded like she was in a wind tunnel. Broken English, very poor. She the said she would put me on hold for a moment.... another 30 minutes later I abandoned the call. Almost an hour and a half, at mobile rates, to be bounced out! Dreadful service. They not only fail to make simple tax calculations, they fail to support customers querying their huge errors. It's one big con job

Received two letters this morning in 2 separate envelopes. One told me my tax code for next year: fair enough, I need to know this. The second told me I had not paid enough tax last year - no wonder public finances are in such a state, because I had paid £0.20 too little in tax. The cost of the stamp on the letter was nearly 5x [2nd class] or 9x [1st class] as much as the amount I had underpaid. As I said above, no wonder public finances are in such a state if pointless, wasteful letter like this are frivolously sent out!!

Labour UK need to understand, their own policies and departments are stopping growth.
Paid VAT of £24,997.71 by the 8 Oct 26.
HMRC send me a Letter with the Royal Mail 14 Oct.- 5 days transit, while I earn 3% Penalty Interest along with a £749.71 Fine.

We have now closed all open job positions.

If it was possible to give -5 it would be awarded. Attempted to settle accounts. None of the links you follow lead to a payment page, you end up in a rabbit hole of irrelevant pages having specifically clicked on the correct link for your issue. The phone line's robot hangs up on you after lecturing you on irrelevant matters for 5 minutes.....what is the point in having a phone line if it doesn't go anywehre?!!! The app is equally useless and provides no clear end page and there is no assisstant other than the digital assisstant.....which is about as useful as a chocolate kettle. Absolutely disgraceful!

I'm not able to tell HMRC that I have a new telephone number as a second factor of authentication, and I'm completely blocked from accessing my account.

With all the taxes I have paid, that's a great service, HMRC. Thank you.

My wife has tried to speak to someone about tax return after they did not alter her e mail as told. Tried twice to speak to someone but after 10 minutes of gobbeldy gook by some ridiculous non plus robot was cut off, after ignoring her request. Absolutely inefficient system and whoever creates all this nonsense, no wonder about the reviews they get. All there with the fine threats though!! Andy get a grip of this lot.

I have for a total of over 40 minutes trying to speak to HMRC this morning and both times I called they hung up without giving me a chance to say hello?
Obviously a terrible service as others have shared here and a reflection of how our government services fail in everything they do for the British public.

The HMRC website is a travesty. It should be ruled unlawful to operate a site that is not fit for purpose. It is beyond confusion that the HMRC collects money from everyone and yet does not have the resources to pay for a proper website.

It is like a digital labyrinth. It is intended to confuse and to obfuscate.

You have not passes security. What's your last payslip from your pension. My response...... how can I not have passed security? You have my details, age , NI number, address , ....... I don't get pay slips for a pension. Her response? Yes you do !!@@!

I work with my mother many years in factory in GreenCore Northampton,my mother after more than 9 years of hard work with all overtime she didnt have money back for pension .Now my mother have cancer!!!I asked my money back for pension because i dont have work permit no seatelment status the same no money back.

Absolute joke of a service. 4 phone calls over 2 hours and no nearer a resolution. Why can they not empower one person with appropriate training to resolve each issue? Why so many jobsworths who can do little to nothing? This country is finished!

Scammers, run by a lowlife called john-paul Marks and behind him the corrupt Episteinian politicians.
They act like gangsters, intimidating and bullying decent people.
There different departments don't communicate with each other and do 't have access to each others records , which is a joke.
They use AI, while one cannot email, but has to write to them, which is rediculous and a scam

Customer service is rude and not fit for purpose, cannot speak to any other staff member when they don’t know what you’re talking about & no other way to contact them.

The UX for Self-Assessment is horrific.
I owe HMRC an extra £40.
It's cost me more than £40 in time to tell them.
The form should pre-fill with all the information they have on me, then I can amend the one field that is incorrect.
Instead I have to source the tax information they already hold on me directly from my employer and each of the banks I am with.
It's an unnecessary duplication of effort.
I can't even all to ask them if my figures match their figures.

P55 nightmare. Submitted at start of June 26 and still no payment- fractured and bureaucratic piece of government with no point of responsibility to resolve simple claims or someone who can confirm when rebate will be sent. No complaints process - nuff said

I rung up to close my Self Assessment ,as i was only self employed from 2023/2024, I filled in a paper format, So they asked me what i had written on my return form, as my employent, i said live in carer, then got asked the date i sent the forms to them, then the last amount i paid, How i remember all that ,They are looking at my papers which i sent in July, How can i remember that i work with people with dementia ,i have to repeat myself 200 times a day just reassuring them that they are in their own home, and its either morning or night, Now they cant close my self assessment ,as i could not answer those questions, how ridiculous is that.Workimg as a carer underpaid, looked down upon ,am even wondering why are they penalising us who work everyday, i have worked since 2004 , never claimed benefits ever, and then those on benefits are way better off, they dont get any stress from penalties,Am glad am retiring next year, will definately never encourage anyone to work, its not worth it.
