Disappointing car prep & collection
Matt was really patient throughout the process of finding me the right car. I had set my heart on a particular Tucson, and he went above and beyond to find it for me. He made the whole process really easy, and I genuinely appreciate the effort he put in.
However, unfortunately, I’m disappointed with the condition and preparation of the car upon collection.
I initially thought the washer fluid was empty after leaving the showroom, but after getting home following a long drive I found the reservoir was actually full. The problem is that the washer jets only spray a small amount of fluid before stopping, despite the motor continuing to run. This means I’m unable to properly clean the windscreen, which obviously isn’t ideal and is something I feel should have been picked up and checked before the car was handed over.
The car also came without a parcel shelf and without the car mats. For a car costing many thousands of pounds, I feel these are basic items that should have been included. Having to source these myself after collection is disappointing and, in my opinion, unfair.
I also pointed out before collection that the rear wheel-arch trim was visibly loose and could be moved by hand. Unfortunately, nothing was done to rectify this before I collected the car. It appears there is a small adhesive pad behind the trim which has lost its stick, and this should have been properly secured before handover.
Overall, I’m happy with Matt personally and the effort he made to find me the car I wanted, but I feel the preparation and handover of the vehicle fell short of what I would reasonably expect when spending this amount of money. I hope these issues can be addressed, as I would much rather leave a genuinely positive review once everything has been put right.

Enquired about a business lease. Initial car and information supplied was great,
Chose the car I was wanting, agreed the terms and made the application. Pretty quickly came back as an accept and onto next part of paying fees. I paid them and then heard nothing for a few days.
Sienna then calls me to actually the application should never have been approved and it was an admin error and they could try a different lender, offered me a different car but I declined as wanted the car I chose originally, now seemingly the 2nd try has been declined aswell….
I advised I would just go directly to manufacture and get my car from them. Sienna states this is who application went to and they declined, even though I was advised different lender and filled in an application online for a different lender. Didn’t trust this information and I went to main dealer as I advised and collected my new car within days as stock was available.
Bit annoyed I have been messed about by Hippo but just shows that I should have done what I have in past and stick to going directly to the dealers rather than someone like Hippo.

Car delivered within 2 miles of driving warning light comes on your company just got a warranty company to call me and they were no help whatsoever then 2 days later engine management light comes on so now I have to get the turbo fixed on it and yet again your company does not return calls when they said they would you have taken all the enjoyment out of the car your customer aftercare is shocking

Smooth process
I had a lovely experience buying from Hippo. I had Rebecca Newsham who helped and she was brilliant. The whole buying process was quick and smooth. Delivery guy Mohammed was lovely and showed me all the controls. Only slight gripe is no user manual/book pack was with the car so I can’t see service history etc but not the end of the world!

I wouldn’t recommend HIPPO due to the financial company they use
I wouldn’t recommend HIPPO due to the Financial Services they use and based on my experience.
We asked to move our payment date to the last day of the month, which we believed had been agreed during a phone call. We have consistently made our payments on that agreed date, yet we continue to receive arrears letters every month.
Following a formal complaint, their final response was simply that they cannot change the contractual payment date by more than 15 days and that the arrears letters are a regulatory requirement because the payment is received after the contractual due date. They have refused to uphold the complaint or offer any practical solution.
It’s incredibly frustrating to receive repeated arrears notices when payments are being made consistently and, as they themselves confirmed, they are not being reported as late to the credit reference agencies because they are received within the relevant timeframe.
The whole experience has been disappointing. Rather than trying to resolve the issue, they have relied on policy and left us receiving unnecessary correspondence month after month. We are very unhappy with the outcome and expected much better customer service.
