Ive been with Hartville for years now for my Corgi. They have consistently processed claims in a timely manner and paid out on items that they should. I have never had to escalate to customer service or a supervisor. I recommend Hartville to all of my friends and family that have pets.

I liked the quote for pet insurance, and based on my Trust Pilot research, they had good reviews, so I purchased a policy. Now 9 months later I had my first claim. The process went smooth, was easy, kept me informed and paid the claim timely. The amount paid was accurate to the penny. I got my quote for year two and am happy to pay the reasonable increase.

This insurance carrier has been the best one we ever had for our pets. We’ve had several health scares and issues with our dog this year; they have never canceled us or rejected our many ER and vets bills. We will never be without Hartville for our pets. We’ve been with them for over 5 years.

All three of our pets are with Hartville and until this year we have had the good fortune to not need to claim.

In January, one of our pets was taken ill suddenly and passed away. It was a shock and I had to call hartville a few times to check what we were entitled to and the procedure. One of the times I called I was so upset, I cried. The person on the phone didn't tell me to call back she explained everything calmly and they even made arrangements for our pets insurance to be cancelled so that we didn't need to go through another call like that after he passed.

More recently, I put in a claim and found it so easy to do and we got a green light at the end plus more help.

All I can say is I wish my personal health insurance was like this. I find Hartville to be really easy to work with, kind and caring towards our pets.As a bonus, I find there online system super functional. Thanks for everything Hartville.

Terrible, feel like I’ve been scammed, they deny everything, constantly ask for records they already have. I truly feel like I’ve been robbed of the money I’ve paid on premiums past two years.
Stay away, look elsewhere.

Avoid! The do not approve claims. They use estimate documentation to deny actual claim documentation even after vet office corrects. They claim preexisting yet there never was. Ripoff company. They supply companies like ASPCA insurance. Filed appeal 2 months ago and today after following up I get, we show no active appeal.

We moved from Hong Kong and got insurance and new local vet and all tests before we put the dog in a hotel. Then he got hurt in the hotel. Hartville made me request all the old med records from my Hong Kong vet, only to tell me illness developed within 14 days are not eligible. Wasted all my time and effort.

They hassle me and avoid properly processing and paying the claim.

I submitted a claim and accidentally included the invoice and not the receipt that I paid the vet. They processed the claim and sent an email notifying the claim was completed.

Months later, I accidentally learned that they denied the claim because the service was not eligible.

I called and was told It is eligible, but they just needed the receipt. It’s beyond me why they didn’t notify they needed additional documents, they just sent this email that is clearly meant to mislead me.

I called twice and they finally understood the problem and asked me to email the receipt directly and they will fix the claim. I did and was told the format is wrong.

I called them again. Resent the receipt. They said they have everything they need and the claim will be processed.

Silence.

I email back for an update. Silence. I call back and learn they still never reopened the claim. I was told it was reopened (for the third time they say they will now process).

Guess what. Nothing.

I emailed multiple times and they never respond. They never bothered processing or making the payment for a legitimate claim that they owe me for.

I called them 5 times and emailed them at least 5 times and they always give me a run around.

So bad.

Their rates were reasonable at the beginning then they raised them 2.5 times with no notice or explanation. I have been paying their exuberant rates for years and now they do everything they can to not pay the claim. I don’t even know what to do. The next step, filing complaints against them.

I would stay away. It’s a nightmare and they will make you jump through ridiculous hoops to not even bother paying you.

I cancelled my insurance for my dog with these crooks today after almost a year of making payments. My dog developed cherry eye and they did not cover it. He also got shots and other preventative checkups that they list under what is covered and it also was denied. Then I get a letter today stating that my monthly premium is going up. I cannot give this scam of a company any more of my money to do nothing. Save your money. This company is not worth it.

I have had this company for a couple of years and the first time I filed a claim I was completely satisfied. My dog had an emergency surgery and they followed through on their end. Last year I changed my policy to illness and injury and the first time I used the policy was a couple weeks ago. I took my dog in for a hot spot and found out she had an ear infection as well. The total amount did not even add up to the deductible but they would not apply anything because they said that hotspots and ear infections are related to allergies and since my dog has allergies it is a preexisting condition and would not cover anything. I called and spoke to someone and they supported this so I canceled all three pet policies I had with them. Of course when they sell it to you it covers practically everything until you try to use it. This company, like a lot of insurance companies like this, looks for loopholes to not cover what they say they will in the beginning. Do not waste your time with this company. They are another one of those companies that do not follow up on their promises. I tried to file a complaint on the better business bureau and they do not even have a profile. That should tell you a lot. Reached out to customer service last week and have not received a reply yet.
