My partner had used them previously and had a good experience, so we decided to use them too. To say they have been pretty amazing is a total understatement. We were not only purchasing but also selling at the same time, so it was stressful to say the least.
We had so many ups and downs during the process, with sales falling through multiple times. Purchases were also withdrawn due to issues raised after surveys. It went on for so long that we even had to reapply for the mortgage. But throughout it all, there was continuous communication, genuine kindness and professionalism, along with quick responses and a real determination to get the job done.
I would certainly use them again, and I want to make a special mention of our solicitor. I have dealt with so many over the years, and to say I have found many of them elusive, difficult to speak to, and slow is an understatement. But honestly, Kate Bell was just brilliant and the complete opposite. We won’t be using anyone else from now on.

Recently we completed on a sale and Kate was acting for the vendors, I found her to be pro active and efficient throughout the process.

Everybody else in the chain , INCLUDING your client. had agreed upon a date to work towards 14th of the month. Nobody at Gordon Brown replied to client/agent/anybody else involved . No effort from their side to reach out, upon chasing nobody at the company answers the phone. Now having to pay additional money due to expiring surveys due to lack of communication.
While writing this review "someone" has gave an update that is entirely false showing nobody knows what is going on.
AVOID

Two separate people dealing with the sale and purchase and there was no joined-up thinking.

The solicitor dealing with our sale eventually got on board and was good at communicating with us by email and phone.

The solicitor dealing with our purchase was inept and extremely poor at communicating. Never once did they answer a call or return any phone calls when we needed clarification.

For Generation X people who don’t always understand “Lawyer speak” we found this unacceptable but combine this with slow and unhelpful responses left us very frustrated

From start to finish Kate has been brilliant.
Solicitors usually get a bad right up when moving house etc but not in this case.
Communication was brilliant and I always got an email on the same to any questions I may have had.

I’ve had a really positive experience with Kate and the Gordon Brown team throughout my house purchase. They’ve been professional, helpful and responsive, and I’ve always felt everything was being handled properly.

The app was great at the start of the process, and could be utilised further to provide updates during quieter periods, showing the current stage and any outstanding actions, as this would reassure clients that progress is continuing behind the scenes.

Overall, I’ve been very happy with the service and would happily recommend Kate and the team. We’ve now exchanged and are looking forward to completing!

This is an accurate account of our experience with Gordon Brown Law (GBL), who acted for our buyer.

GBL were instructed in June and were made aware from the outset that the developer wanted completion by the end of July. Despite this, we understand the buyer was told the process could take 12–19 weeks. The transaction was chain-free, yet it then appeared to sit waiting for reports for around seven weeks, with our solicitor and estate agents repeatedly struggling to get responses from GBL.

Our solicitor was ready to complete on 17 July, but the lack of progress continued. Eventually, the developer gave a final deadline of 2 October, stating that otherwise they would relist the property we were buying.

The transaction ultimately took approximately 15 weeks to complete, causing considerable stress and putting our purchase at genuine risk.

We appreciate that solicitors cannot control every part of a transaction, but in our experience there was a clear lack of urgency, communication and proactive progression, particularly given that the transaction was chain-free and the developer’s deadlines were known from the outset.

If GBL ask us to remove this review because they were acting for our buyer rather than us, we will decline. This review is about our experience of dealing with the firm and the impact their handling of the transaction had on our purchase.

Echoing other 1-star reviews: this wasn’t my solicitor, but the seller’s. Thanks to a shared client portal, I could see my own conveyancer replying to everything straight away while the conveyancing assistant at Gordon Brown Law sat on correspondence for weeks at a time.

An exercise in frustration from beginning to end. Successfully turned a simple, chain-free first time buy into a 3 month ordeal that could very easily have been completed in half the time. Avoid.

Had the pleasure of Aaliyah complete the sale of my mother’s house. I couldn’t ask for more and would highly recommend. Aaliyah was professional at all times nothing was ever a problem. Everything I asked for was completed with speed, with sale fully completed within 11 weeks. Aaliyah was outstanding and a credit to the company and wish her all the best for her future

My estate agent pointed me in the direction of Gordon Brown to help assist with the sale of my first home. I was very lucky and had Kate Bell handling my case. We had a very short timeline to work with but Kate helped to push things along as quickly as she could. Firstly this is the first time I have sold a property via auction and honestly I am very impressed by the whole procedure and even more impressed with the efficiency and courtesy shown by the team at Gordon Brown Law. We used Gordon Brown Law to sell our property, which I think we received a pretty standard service. However, during the sale of our property a pretty major boundary issue was uncovered, which resulted in us having to use their services to help rectify this with land registry. This is where the 5 star review comes from. Claire Keers was tasked with rectifying this major boundary issue, and what can I say! Easy to contact, friendly and approachable. Kept us well informed and if a query was raised it was dealt with that very same day. We honestly cannot thank her enough, as without her help, support and speedy service. The sale of our property would have undoubtedly fell through.
