I purchased gift cards and they did not…
I purchased gift cards and they did not work. Received the activation code but when trying to use them was told no money on them. Now Giant Eagle is giving me every excuse not to refund my money. They continue to tell me different dates when I will hear back from them. I have been trying to get this resolved since May 3rd. Do not purchase gift cards from them. Supervisor Beth was no help at all. Nor were any of the customer service people.
Horrible produce.
Giant Eagle can be a great place to shop, if you don't mind paying higher prices. However, not all are equal. The one in Garfield Hts, Ohio is absolutely horrible when it comes to produce. I have tried to overlook my experiences many times, but after buying a bag of apples, in which half were spoiled, I'm done. Quality control seems to be nonexistent and while I understand staffing issues, maybe it's time to close if you can't maintain a standard.
Issue is with digital wallet
Issue is with digital wallet. I have several hundreds of dollars in my E-card wallet and cannot access any of my E-cards. Have not been able to access any of my E-cards for over a week. Called customer service which was unable to address my concerns and had no idea when problem would be resolved. Sent email voicing my concerns with no response. Very dissatisfied with Giant Eagle main office customer service.
You have to bring 2x’s satisfaction policies to Giant Eagles attention.

According to Giant Eagle, they offer a 2x your money back on Giant Eagle brand products for satisfaction.
The problem is that they don’t offer the guarantee.
If you don’t bring the policy to their attention….they will never give you 2x’s your money back.
They are only getting 3 stars because they have never denied the policy to me but I do have to ask them for it.
Pleasant Hills Giant Eagle…deli is the worst
I go to the Pleasant Hills Giant Eagle sometimes if I am in the area doing other errands. It’s not bad, except for the deli. Just about every time I go there anymore I have issues.
Every single week I but lunch meat for my kids lunches. They like it chipped very fine, or they won’t eat it. Time and time again, if I wasn’t paying attention, I got home to find it, at Best, thinly sliced. I had to throw it away and go buy more ( at another store).
This weekend, I went again, made my request, and saw as they were slicing it way too thick. I stopped him and said I need it chipped and very fine. I was first told that the slicers do not cut it any thinner- a blatant lie ( the precut meat in the case was thinner!). I called him out and said I buy it every week and the same slicers cut it just fine ( there’s only one person there that ever got it right, but they did it, no problem). When I said this, the young man then told me that “they were told that they were told that they were not allowed to cut it any thinner.” ?????? Why in the world would management care, if that is what the customer wants? It costs the same. I was furious- told them they could keep it, and am not going back. Either they were given that instruction, or they lied. At this point- not dealing with this place or this type of BS ever again. Grocery shopping should not be this stressful.

Bad customer service
I was shopping at Giant Eagle in Akron on Waterloo Rd and went to pay for my items at a self checkout lane. Immediately a woman who works there came over and started bagging my items while I was scanning them. An item had part of the label ripped off of it which had the bar code on it. The woman took the product and did not apologize for the inconvenience scanned a similar item and told me the item that had damaged packaging.was going home with me. She acted as though I was trying to do something bad. I have been shopping there for 20 years and I was treated very rudely to a point that I may go somewhere else to do my shopping. I was very upset. I realize shop lifting is rampant but I am an honest person and have been shopping there a long time. I also work for a pharmacy in the area for 5 years. I will write and call to everyone I can to let them know how horribly I was treated.

SICK employee handling food
I like the milk and meat being fresh but I gave two stars because 1. they sell off brands, you cannot find (for instance) brand name saltines. but 2. (being the thing that will keep me out of the store....a cashier was as sick as a dog. She hardly had a voice and could hardly hold her head up. She had already rung up half of my groceries before I noticed...I went home and wiped down each food item with sanitizing cloths then soap and water. I through away the bananas and food that shouldn't be wiped off. WHY would you allow such a sick person to work and spread germs to your customers???? I'll go to Kroger's from now on. Too bad. I know it's hard to find workers but I'd rather stand in a long line with a WELL worker than get SICK! That's just plain irresponsible and rude. This Giant Eagle is in Blacklick Ohio on E. Broad.
How do they get away with it?
The last time I purchased Giant Eagle Pasteurized Half and Half, it was $3.79 for a half gallon. Two weeks later (today) the same product cost me $6.39. That is a 70% increase. Outrageous.

How dare you feed the opioid epidemic....and settling out of court,paying an undisclosed amount of money, all because you know you were GUILTY of abusing your right to fill prescriptions for opioids. Shame on your company....I will never shop there again, your stores always were less than desirable.

Since then Giant Eagle was always there for our midnight grocery & diaper runs , cakes , breakfast muffins and everything in between … 💗

Untruthful ads
In Giant Eagle (I prefer to call it Giant Vulture), you get these ads saying, for example 'Buy 4 for $5 - before was $1.79 each'. What they do NOT tell you is that now, if you buy one, it's down to $1.25! So they make you think you must buy 4, but no, only one is enough. So they trick you into thinking you must buy a lot to get a discount, but that's not true
Save Money & Get What You Want!
I am a conservative person & I really like Giant Eagle! They are not the only game in town. For that, I’m lucky! Of the others, I choose G.E. Because more often than not, they have what is needed and at a fair price! The people are wonderful & very helpful!

I love that the fruit and vegetable selection is top notch. Giant Eagle's meat is also a better variety than other stores. I like that i get discounts on gas when i shop.
Disgusting behavior of harassment/discrimination
I was aggressively harassed and discriminated against on 12/24/20 around 12:40pm at the 2801 E. Waterloo Rd. Giant Eagle, (store #4029). Had two employees and their manager jumping down my throat over a mask after I explained to them that I have a medical condition, and it isn't proactive for me to wear a mask, they proceeded to harass me and refused service. So I went to the self-checkout, and there I was harassed by two other employees. I explained to them my same situation, and they continued to harass me and discriminate.
They tried to tell me that wearing a mask is the law now, they are sorely mistaken. Mandates are NOT law! I don't give into tyranny and unconstitutional acts of the government and these fear mongering dictators. The only ones breaking the law were your employees, so you should probably inform your employees on the ADA law, because they all broke it when I informed them of my medical condition and how they are breaking the ADA law by harassment, discrimination and refusal of service of someone with a medical condition. It doesn't matter what your policy is on masks, you still have to abide by the ADA law and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. And because of this despicable harassment and discrimination, I will be filing a discrimination/harassment complaint to the Ohio attorney general, Better Business Bureau, and Ohio Civil Rights Commission!
UPDATE:
Was contacted by customer service, and was basically told that they condone harassment, abuse, hate, discrimination, and refusal of public service to anyone with a medical condition who are unable to wear a mask. That they deliberately don’t care to abide by the ADA law, or the Civil Rights Act of 1967. It’s unbelievably immoral and despicable! As a public service if you are unable to serve your customers to the best of your ability and abide by the law, then you deserve to be shutdown and to go bankrupt. It’s absolutely disgusting how you’re employees treat their customers, an absolute disgrace and unethical!
