I'll begin this review by stating the obvious - buying a secondhand car can be like walking into a minefield. This is an uncertainty that faces both dealership and customer.

I purchased a Ford Focus Zetec from Ghost Motors in Cleckheaton on 6th April 2026. Before doing so, I checked out the reviews on Google. The majority of their customers were satisfied, but a minority of reviewers were not. However, it wasn't the complaints that grabbed my interest, it was the response from Ghost Motors as they addressed the complaints.

Like I say, there are risks when buying a car with previous owners. Unforseen problems can arise, even after a pre-sale service - Fact! Frustrating for all concerned - Fact! It's what a car dealership does to try and put any problem right that is the important factor to consider when taking into account who we might choose to buy from. After reading their replies to negative reviews, Ghost Motors came out of it looking like a dealership that would be honourable within their aftersales obligations to customers. That's what swayed me.

I fell in love with the car I bought from Ghost Motors. It was a positive experience. No pressure from the staff when looking at cars that morning. They were friendly and patient They also offered me a fair price for my old banger via a part exchange there and then, so that was one less thing for me to worry about. They even assisted me with the transferring of ownership. I drove away very happy...

Four days later the engine started over-heating due to an unexpected coolant leak. I was gutted. Ghost Motors were gutted for me. What did Ghost Motors do? They were very sympathetic and they arranged for my car to be towed from Skipton (where I live) to a Cleckheaton garage THE FOLLOWING MORNING!

I'm a self-employed singer and I need a car to transport myself and equipment to venues. I had a gig in Queensbury in Bradford whilst my car was being repaired. What did Ghost Motors do? They paid for a taxi to take me and my gear from Skipton to Queensbury... and straight after my gig they paid for another taxi to take me from Queensbury to the garage in Cleckheaton to collect my repaired car.

I should also add that Ghost Motors kept me informed of what was happening whilst my car was being repaired. The communication was open and honest. They always phoned back when they said they would.

I personally cannot identify with the negativity that a handful of disgruntled reviewers have outlined. I can only assume that their demands were unrealistic and only a dealership with a magic wand could have resolved their complaints to their lofty levels of satisfaction.

Would I buy from Ghost Motors in the future? YES I WOULD... WITHOUT ANY RESERVATION!

Would I recommend Ghost Motors to my family, friends and strangers alike? YES I WOULD... WITHOUT ANY RESERVATION!

Bought a car from this dealer and had nothing but trouble from the start! The car was sold to me with a faulty wishbone and clutch that cost just under £2000. I only had the car a matter of weeks and when I approached the dealer about this I was ignored and they did not pay for any repairs even though they had a responsibility under the consumer rights act! Like a previous review, they sold the car stating it was serviced only to find that this was another lie. I will never use this dealer again!

Bought a car from here, was lied to from the very start, got them to service the car before I bought it, only for it to not be done, air filters was years old, noise coming from the front on a test drive said they would get this sorted, apparently was a front tyre so they apparently put a new one on, they didn't. Went to get the car serviced at a specialist and they gave me a list as long as my arm wrong with the car, took it back for a refund and they advertised it the same day for an extra £500 plus all the problems! Would never buy another car from this place! all the cars are from auctions and I can guarantee they all have problems, had to give one star but they don't even deserve that!

BEWARE: Ghost Motors sold us an unsafe, defective car and then ghosted me! I usually don’t write long reviews, but people need to hear this. We bought a used Vauxhall Mokka from Ghost Motors in 2024. Within 9 months, the engine BLEW UP with no warning. That’s right – the car severely overheated and the head gasket blew, yet no dashboard warning lights ever came on. It turns out the car had a coolant leak that Ghost Motors either didn’t catch or didn’t tell us about, and the temperature/coolant warning system wasn’t functioning. This is a major red flag – it means the car was essentially sold with a hidden time-bomb under the hood.

When we bought it, Ghost Motors promised it was serviced and in great condition. Based on the lack of service stamp in the service logbook and the independent engineers report done after the event, Ghost Motors didn’t even check the car over. We had early clues: a tire pressure sensor was bad on day one (when I went to have it replaced, we discovered that there wasn’t an adaptor for the locking wheel nut… so the nut had to be cut off… of the care owned by a terminally ill 80 year old!!), fluid levels were low – things they should have fixed pre-sale. But the big one was the engine. After it failed, a month after Mum died, I tried to work with the dealership. They completely ignored me. I reached out multiple times via registered post – they never responded or offered any help. Mum spent thousands and got a pile of metal and I was left with double heartbreak (losing Mum and then discovering she’d been ripped off). My mother (the buyer) was terminally ill at the time – this was the last thing our family needed.

I’m pursuing legal action because under consumer law the car was “not of satisfactory quality” (an understatement). But I also want to warn others. If you value your money and peace of mind, do NOT buy a car from Ghost Motors LTD. In my experience, they do not thoroughly inspect their cars, they do not honour their obligations when something goes wrong, and they do not appear to care about selling an unsafe vehicle. A car with no working temperature warning is downright dangerous. I’ve reported this to Trading Standards to investigate.

There are plenty of used car dealers out there – I urge you to find another. Ghost Motors’ behaviour after the sale is non-existent (hence the name, I suppose – they “ghost” you). It’s not worth the risk. I wish I could give 0 stars. Avoid Ghost Motors LTD.”

These are conmen. I discovered so many issues with the car I have just purchased by the time I got it home. Work which was promised to be completed before collection has not been done. Speaking to the sales man, he is just a complete liar. 2k added to the purchase price for the repairs which will have to be funded by myself

Highly recommend! Honestly can’t fault them! I feel like people always leave a review when they’re disappointed but never about the good service! Got a few cars from them and have always had a positive experience! Always reccommend them to everyone!

Nice helpful guys there. Bought a great little car from them and they couldn't of been more helpful.
The boss even let me tax the car from his desk in his office.

Recently bought a Ford Fiesta car derived van from Adam at Ghost motors. Adam was very professional a man of his word.i live in Norwich Norfolk.Saw van on internet knew I wanted it.I contacted Adam who put me at my ease and made the whole experience very easy.He explained about the van in a very easy and understandable .I had a trade in which he gave me a very fair trade in deal.From start to finish Adam put me at ease and honoured his promises .He delivered van to my home 3.5 hours away from ghost motors .I can only say good things about Adam and Ghost motors In these uncertain times he went over and above what I expected. 100% satisfied with Adam and Ghost Motors

Stay away from them they are the worst place to buy a car don’t let those fake good reviews blind you. They are very dangerous people.
They will even threaten you when they sell you their death trap car. Please don’t be a victim like me it has already taken a toll on my mental health and informed my GP . They enjoy seeing you suffer for their lies

Stay away from them if you want your peace of mind don’t let the little 5 star reviews , lead you into their trap, they are full of lies , and unprofessional after you finish buying the car and there’s a problem, everyone at the office will turn into “ I don’t know” , every car you see on their site has no accuracy whatsoever they have written about it. Before you buy let the AA go with you for a check, if you don’t have the means then stay clear from them. My worst nightmare.

payed £5000 cash for audiTT .... staff was lovley wen handing money over !!! 5 days later car blowing black smoke .. needed a new dpf filter !!! !!! staff were vile dealing with it because i demanded they pay for it to be repaired !!! fast for east to now 6 months iv had the car !!! back in the garage totally fuxxcked !! do not ever buy anything from ghost motors they are a total total scam !

Bought my son’s car from here a few years ago and good experience. Recently visited again for my daughter’s first car. Didn’t find what we were after but they were very helpful.

Purchased car they couldn't be nice enough, following day, fault, returned car as within 30 days, for 3 weeks false promises, different stories, ignored phone, had to ring of mothers phone, made it so difficult to get a refund as per our legal rights, had to do a 200 mile round trip and get police involved then finally got money back, would never recommend this garage to anyone, no understanding of commitment, customer service and no intention to simply do the right thing, cars can get a fault at any time, its how the garage reacts to it that matters and in this case, shockingly disgusting

Prior to purchasing we discovered issues, it was agreed that they would contribute to the costs of rectifying said issue, with that agreement we were happy to purchase. Since then we've been in touch several times and met with "I'll check with the manager" "passing it to the customer service team, we'll be in touch"....now they're outright ignoring us. This has been since September 2024 to now (March 2025).
We've been to the ombudsman but they cannot support as this company is not registered with them.
However we have received legal advice instead, thankfully.

I recently purchased my first car from ghost motors and I have to say, the experience was fantastic! From start to finish, the service provided was top-notch. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain all the features and benefits of the motor. They answered all my questions patiently, which made me feel confident in my purchase.

The delivery was prompt fully serviced and as described . I appreciated how they followed up after the purchase to ensure everything was working perfectly. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my decision to go with ghost motors. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality products and exceptional service!
