Great service

After what I thought to be a suspicious contact, I reported this to Chip. They contacted me via the app so I knew it was them. They were very helpful and their actions reassured me.

Just tried to make a one off payment…

Just tried to make a one off payment into an online account. But only option seemed to be to authorise chip to acess bank account, did this, but then tried to close & return to chip. Then caught in a continous loop & not able to return to chip. Annoyed, frustrated & appalled as a new customer. Will not be making any more deposits & will be closing my account.

For one off deposits, Chip does need a connection to your bank so the payment can be authorised securely. It sounds like something went wrong during that hand off back to the app, which is not the experience we want anyone to have.

Shel was first class

The Chip assistant (Shel) was first class but I have to say that there should be an easier way to reset a PIN in order to unlock a frozen App. Especially as, in this age of biometric security, people are prone to forget the old ways.

We hear your feedback on PIN resets. You are absolutely right that with biometrics doing most of the work these days, it is easy to forget a PIN, and the process to recover access should feel as smooth as possible. We have put a lot of focus on security, but we know that has to be balanced with usability, especially when an app becomes locked.

Possibly the worst savings banking experience possible EVER and I’ve over 10 savings accounts so know a thing or 2 about them

They already have all your details from when you opened your account passport, driving license utility bill proof of address, had access to another bank through open access for 90 days and when you want to leave or transfer in or out you have to jump through hoops and give them access to my bank for 90 days
Why, ? I should be able to nominate the bank I want the money to transfer over to and then they should be able to do that request!

I have a real security problem here and they are not fitting into the box of a secure banking system and open to fraud

The crowdfunding they are doing is really off putting, they are using this instead of venture capitalist approach and calling it more of a Brand Advocate’s approach, so guys you are paying them to say it’s the way ahead in savings, looking at the books on companies house I’d say it’s more about the mismanagement of money! I would not trust this company with any of my savings and nor should you if you value your money and your security or time

Why would a company need to crowdfund for a second time for millions of pounds to keep the bank afloat and move it forward, how are they even trading, no savings platform should be doing this… I’m reporting my concerns to the FOS

The additional steps you mention, including temporary Open Banking access, are there to protect customers and prevent fraud. They are part of our regulatory obligations rather than barriers designed to make withdrawals difficult, and funds are always yours to move once the required checks are complete.

We also want to reassure you that Chip remains fully regulated and financially secure. Our crowdfunding is optional and separate from customer savings. It is about allowing customers to become shareholders, not about keeping the business afloat, and customer funds are protected in line with UK regulations.

Great services

Had an issue with my interest payments i used the online chat and spoke to Kate.

Chip ownership statement continues to be missing

What on earth is going on with the issuance of the Chip share ownership statements and why haven't there been any updates as to the progress of this?
I've aready contacted Chip about this and they disappointingly, without any empathy, said that this is not their responsibility, which is an indicator to me of how they will behave in the future, so I strongly recommend AVOIDing this company.

I have been investing with CHIP for the last 10 months. I find them responsive, helpful and I feel they look after my investments well. I had a query about whether a pop up was from them & they came back to me very quickly to reassure me that it was legitimate

Locked out from accessing my savings

I have significant savings with Chip, originally attracted by the simplicity of the platform and the competitive rates on offer. Their rates are no longer competitive so I looked to switch them to another bank which is when my problems started. I ended up in a loop I couldn’t escape from, so had to delete and reload the app. I’ve since been unable to log in as the system tells me it has connectivity issues. All this has been reported to Chip to no avail and I am effectively locked out from accessing my savings.
As a good old fintech, Chip is keen to avoid human interaction and offers you only online support through a dedicated help email address.
I’ve tried this route about 8 times now and have yet to receive the help I need to access my account. I did manage to track down a contact number, but it takes voicemail messages only and no one has contacted me since I left messages and my number on there.
I regard all this as totally unacceptable and my next stop will be the FCA early next week if the situation hasn’t been resolved by then

Prize draw nonsense

I’ve had a Chip savings account for a couple of years now. Also a small investment account. Started moving money into the prize draw account as I foolishly responded to their heavy marketing. I’m a big fan of Premium Bonds so thought I would give it a go. To be clear to everyone considering doing similar – this prize account is absolutely nothing like Premium Bonds. It’s not particularly well run and I find the whole thing a bit opaque. It’s just a way for them to boost their cash balance sheet for free. You never quite know when the winders are announced. It is supposed to be end of the month but the Dec 25 draw results were ‘coming soon’ until randomly and quietly done on a Friday afternoon. All of the ‘projected entries’ stuff is very difficult to understand. Anyway. Log and short of it- I have had £20K fully qualified for two months and absolutely nothing. Not even a fiver. Best month I have had was £25. It simply isn’t worth forgoing the interest on this sum of money for the vanishingly-thin chance of a ‘prize’. If you properly analyse the FAQ you can see it isn’t written by serious people. This is a GCSE Business Studies come Young Enterprise project that has got horribly out-of-hand. Avoid.

Just to clarify a key point, the December Prize Draw has not been run yet. When it is completed, any winners will always be contacted by email. There was also a visual issue in the app that incorrectly suggested prizes had not been won for the December draw. This has now been fixed and the app will update correctly once the draw has been run.

Although the Prize Savings Account is not a premium bonds product, it is modelled in a similar way.

Our partners at ClearBank give Chip funds based on the total balance held in the account across our whole userbase, so this is Chip's way of giving that back, this is why the amount of prize money and the volume of winners might fluctuate from month to month, and the more people using the account, the more we'll have to give away.

Your feedback on transparency and value is heard and we’re continuing to improve how this is communicated.

Chip is definitely recommended

We opened Chip accounts earlier this year & have not been disappointed. The app is so easy to navigate. Transferring money in & out couldn't be easier, & seeing the daily interest adding up is great. I recently had an issue with transferring ISAs across from another bank but the online team were both responsive & effective in a timely manner too.
