I have to say that Ross at GG was amazing. He totally understood the problems we had with another company. He picked our car up and helped with dealing with the Warranty First which was a total nightmare. He explained every detail of what was needed all the way through our extremely stressful time we were having and helped us right up to bringing the car back to us . He was upfront and honest which is is something that doesn’t seem to happen much these days . I would definitely recommended him and GG to anyone. Thank you Ross and GG. Valerie

My MG broke down. Couldn't move it. AA engineer misdiagnosed as a gearbox issue. Towed it to the nearest garage (Mega Motors in West Mosley). Avoid those guys at all costs! Sat on it for over a week before telling me I needed a new gear box after they burnt out the starter motor......But Gearbox Gurus stepped in to save the day absolute legends.

Spoke to Ross.....he travelled up to Mega Motors garage believing it was a battery issue (based on the diagnostics). Got a new battery, installed it, got it towed to Gearbox Guru garage nearest to where we lived, replaced the starter plug and problem solved. He could have continued telling me I needed a new gearbox or any other range of problems needing to be replaced (like the previous 2 people had told me) and charged me for the privilege and id have been none the wiser. Ross didn't. He was transparent and honest throughout. Fixed the car in a matter of days and for a fraction of the price I was expecting considering all the possibilities.

You pay for what you get. If you want honesty, great communicators, quick and top quality service - use these guys.

I contacted Gearbox Gurus (Ross) to help with a gearbox the manufacturer was indicating might need costly repairs. Ross was very helpful with laying out the different options, their timings, the services he could provide & costs etc. While it ended up with me not needing to go to them after all the willingness to take the time to discuss and provide advice was appreciated.

Just wanted to take the time to say a massive thank you the guys at Gearbox Gurus. I took my AMG GTs to them after I had been to several Garages (including Mercedes who had diagnosed the car and said it had a mechanical wobble but since nothing was showing on diagnostics suggested a new gearbox and or engine) and as you can imagine the cost of these parts are huge. I first got in contact with Ross at Gearbox Gurus and he was extremely knowledgeable about what is a very uncommon car and he told me to get it down to them and they can take a look at it. The guys stayed in contact with me every step of the way explaing what they had done and how the car was progressing which was very reassuring when you are looking at what could potentially be a very large bill. I was told what would be the best and worst case scenario and with all the information I was receiving throughout the entire duration of my cars stay with them I knew I was in the right place. The amount of effort that the guys here went to was staggering and when the car came in well under original estimates and not requiring the new engine or gearbox that Mercedes suggested it would need I was ecstatic. The guys even gave it a full Mercedes service (which is recorded on the service history) and replaced the disks and pads that had been heavily worn. I cant recommend Gearbox Gurus enough and my car will never see the inside of a Mercedes garage again (for a problem or even just a service) I would rather drive 240 miles to get to Gearbox Gurus. The car drives like it did when it was new and thats all thanks to Gearbox Gurus. Thanks again guys.

Josh was great to communicate with. Car took a little longer due to things outside of their control and all got sorted seamlessly without the price changing, which was appreciated. Would certainly recommend.

Great service. Gearbox was a mess. Car was picked up promptly, great communication of the problems and solutions and the whole thing was sorted in 3 days. Car delivered back and drives better than new.

Genuine heroes. I live in Kent, but was driving to a party in West London on a Saturday afternoon when my Audi A3 broke down. I couldn't get into gear at all and I had a puddle of oil. It was closing time for most garages, the car was suggesting a gearbox issue and stranded on double yellow lines I knew I needed to find somewhere that could fix this type of issue.

Via Google I found Gearbox Gurus and came through to Ross who instantly put me at ease. Every other garage in London was clocking off for the weekend and didn't want to know, but Ross was amazing. He gave me his mobile number and made clear he was on hand throughout the evening. When the RAC let me down on pick up, Ross arranged one of their trucks to come and collect my car for a very reasonable fee.

I returned to Kent by train the next day (Sunday), my car was in some strange garage 90 miles away in a garage I'd never dealt with before – not my favourite position to be in. Here's why Ross and Gearbox Gurus were so amazing:
- He kept me updated along the way, even sending me pictures
- It was clear they were trying to find the cheapest route possible to get my car back on the road. My car was un-drivable, I couldn't easily take it anywhere else, but they took no advantage of this
- They located the issue, advised me, fixed and then test drove the car
- They swiftly arranged for it to be delivered back to me in Kent

My weekend was saved and a costly nightmare of a situation was avoided thanks to Ross and Gearbox Gurus – thanks so much for literally going the extra mile(s)!

Absolutely brilliant service. From the very beginning I was given full information of the works that may or may not be needed as well as potential costs. I was also given regular updates on what was being done and what need to be done with pictures. The communication with these guys was fantastic. Car was collected and delivered when they said it would. Car feels brand new.

I've been really impressed with this company, knowledgeable, really helpful and a very reasonable price compared to other companies. They really helped me get back on the road in double quick time. I'm a self employed taxi owner and they had my Mercedes E220 repaired in just a week. I highly recommend you and thank you once again. 5 stars isn't enough. Well done.

I recently had the bad luck to have broken down in my Ford Galaxy automatic. The display showed transmission failure and the car wouldn't go in gear to move.
I actually had a reconditioned clutch for the same circumstances just 2 and a bit years ago and for several reasons didn't want to return the car to the people who had done the work, not least as they had a wait time to even look at the car of over three weeks!
I found Gearbox Gurus online and as you see their reviews are all fantastic, so I gave them a call Friday lunch time.
The car was collected and diagnosed by Monday afternoon. Unfortunately it needed a fully reconditioned Gearbox which isn't cheap but isn't even comparable to dealership prices. Ross was easy to get hold of, kept me updated and had the whole job done in 3 days.
Josh dropped the car off to me himself at a location I agreed with them and they were very patient with me, keep calling and worrying whether the car was going to drive OK as obviously automatic gearboxes are so much and I was literally thinking, these reviews are too good to be true😄! Well, they're not! Driven the car for the day and not only is it working but it's not bunny-hopping to a stop and it's a smoother drive.
I'll be the first to get back on this review if anything changes but something tells me I won't be needing to.

Josh was brilliant in handling my 21 questions and made me feel like I was listened to.

It wasn’t cheap but then again you get what you pay for.

Gearbox Gurus is the best out there quite simply.

I am a trader and have sold cars for coming on 7 years now. I have worked with transmissions specialists from all over London.

One thing that stands out is that the standard of service is of a different calibre to any other transmission specialist I have ever used. I feel like I have a much more genuine relationship with the people who work there.

Now I always deal with Ross directly but even when I first started using them not a single member of staff could be faulted.

They also have an incredible knowledge of motor vehicles in general and can actually fix anything on cars apart from body work.

Another thing that seperates them from the crowd is that they do literally all automatic transmissions including Ford Powershift which is why I came in the first place.

Overall I cannot stress enough the craftsmanship these guys possess, I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else.

I had a brilliant experience with gearbox gurus when my Audi A6 grinded to a halt after making a horrible noise.

I was lucky enough to actually see a technician (Ross), who was on his way home and immediately jumped out of his car and asked if I needed help.

After helping me push my car to a me to a safe location he plugged my car into a machine and was able to tell me that it was a transmission issue and he emailed me a copy of the report for my records free of charge.

He then told me to call the office first thing, although he had already started making arrangements to organise collection the following day.

When I then called the office in the morning, I was greeted by Josh who went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable in an undeniably uncomfortable situation.

They picked up my vehicle from where it was broken down within 24 hours.

After bringing it to their workshop Ross promptly called me and said they must strip the gearbox in order to find exactly was has happened as it was an internal problem.

After giving the green light they stripped the gearbox down and sent me pictures of inside and the damage was horrendous.

It turns out I had a leak that I was driving on which damaged the gearbox considerably.

They then fully reconditioned the gearbox and I had my car delivered back to me on my drive within 3 days!

These guys are engineers, not mechanics and they just simply do not get enough credit!

After having the car for three days, the gearbox decided to pack up. I had the vehicle taken to a local BMW main dealer at Tring for diagnosis, who informed me the gearbox needed replacing and would cost £10,000 plus labour. I then made enquiries at a number of repairers. Some replied by email requesting further information. Ross at Gearbox Gurus telephoned me almost immediately after sending the enquiry. He told me they would collect the car from the main dealer and sort out the problem. He was very informative and warned me that due to availability of parts he could not give me a definitive time it would take to repair. They had the car a week, kept me informed of what was going on. Delivered the car back to my home on a tow truck spotless. The car is now running perfectly. The repairs cost less than half of that quoted by the main dealer. I cannot praise the service I received enough. They took full control of collecting the car, keeping me informed and carried out a first class job of repair. Informing me of the general condition of my gearbox and exactly what had caused the problem. I would recommend anyone suffering with a gearbox problem to use this company. There service and workmanship are first class and an example of why you should never take a vehicle with a serious problem to a main dealership. The difference between the main dealership and Gearbox Gurus, is the main dealership employ spare part fitters, whereas Gearbox Gurus are a company of skilled mechanical engineers.

The gearbox on my VW had issues and the car gave me the amber lights with the reverse gear not working. Gearbox gurus picked up my car from home using a recovery service (big differentiator), fixed the issue (they diagnosed that it wasn’t just the mechatronic unit which was fried and needed replacement but also the clutch), and delivered the car back. They also did an inside and outside valet of the car.

Josh (the customer service guy) and Ross (the technical guy) were both very courteous and helpful. They were also always accessible on phone and what’s app. Because our car had broken down we also had a PCN. We disputed it and the council contacted gearbox gurus. Ross kindly let them know that the car could not be driven resulting the PCN being reversed.

The bill was quite hefty as the mechatronic unit and clutch both needed replacement. However, it’s been over a month since I got the car back and it drives well.

I have a Honda Civic Mk8 with the iShift transmission which few repairers will tackle. The problem was that although the car was driveable, the 1st & reverse clutch snatched badly when taking up the drive. This caused the car to lurch in an alarming fashion. I contacted Gearbox Gurus & spoke to Ross MacMillan who replied to my inquiry promptly & gave a "ball park" cost of repair. They arranged to collect my car from my home using a very helpful recovery firm whose driver was at pains to avoid inconvenience to other road users. Gearbox Gurus completed the work within three days & quickly returned it. The car now drives as good as when I bought it new in 2007. Although the work was not cheap, it was worth it as the car has only 32000 miles on the clock. I am happy to use my name as a recommendation for Gearbox Gurus. Peter Gain.
