FlySafair needs to address this
FlySafair needs to address this! 🚨
This is extremely concerning. A passenger has once again shared evidence of her luggage being tampered with after travelling with FlySafair. In the picture, the suitcase appears to have been opened despite being secured with a lock.
What makes this even more disturbing is that this is not the first time she has experienced a problem with her luggage. How many passengers have to go through the same thing before proper action is taken?
Passengers put their belongings in the airline's care expecting them to arrive safely and securely. When luggage is opened or tampered with, it raises serious questions about baggage handling and security.
FlySafair, passengers deserve answers. Investigate these incidents, take responsibility, and put stronger measures in place to protect people's belongings. We should not have to travel wondering whether our luggage will arrive untouched. 😢💔

FlySafair rude Priority check-in agent
**Shocking check\-in service at Priority booking**
Rude Ms Mmashao from Fly Safair at booking in this morning @ 6h50.
Extremely disappointing experience \. After standing in a long priority check\-in queue for around 20 minutes, my daughter was met by an exceptionally rude and abrupt check\-in agent\. There was no card machine available to pay for baggage, so we were sent to yet another queue to make payment\. Another passenger proceeded to assist my daughter by saying she could pay online. This upset the agent who told us to step aside so she could help another passenger while Simone did the quick online payment.
The agent was unnecessarily confrontational, accused my daughter of “throwing” her suitcase onto the conveyor when she did no such thing, and then called a supervisor rather than simply dealing with the situation professionally\. When supervisor arrived Ms Mmashao proceeded to accuse my daughter in Zulu of throwing her case around. Fortunately I understood and corrected the agent as to what had really ensued. The supervisor ‘allowed’ us to book in my daughters case!!
Long queues, inadequate payment facilities and, worst of all, shockingly rude customer service\. Passengers deserve to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. Clearly Fly Safair needs more local competition. Their arrogance is astounding.
Hidden Fees
Very disappointed in the fact that Fly SA Fair sneakily adds extra services one didn't ask for changing your fare to become significantly higher than you chose. They don't ask if you want to add additional services, they add them for you then expect you to remove them if you are not interested, if you miss the prompt to remove it's on you. It is very unethical and shows lack of good faith. We choose Fly SA Fair because we want to pay less not because we want to pay more disguised as extra services. ☹️
Wasted money paying for business class
Travelled "business class" on flight FA-691, in April 2026 from JNB -CPT.
My brand new suitcase, which had never been used before, arrived in CPT in unacceptable condition.
The damage to the case is far beyond what might be considered reasonable - it looks as if it has been dragged along gravel.
There are signs not only that the case was dragged, but also thrown/dropped. When I opened the case I found that my portable monitor screen was cracked. Ive travelled with this screen in check-in luggage, both domestic and international, over a 2 year period and its never been an issue.
I have submitted a complaint, explaining all these details along with proofs of purchase and photos and all Ive recieved in response is a generic email referring me to lost property.
I would like an explanation as to how this occurred and why Safair feels that it is acceptable to treat any customers belongings in this manner.
This is completely unacceptable, especially after having paid for business class which apparently includes priority luggage handling.

Booked in my golf equipment with SAFAIR
Booked in my golf equipment with Fragile stickers on it meaning that it should be handled with care. On collection of my golf equipment the bag had been torn apart. SAFAIR refused to pay for the damage because I signed the waiver from not understanding that my luggage can now be handled badly because of that. What part of fragile do baggage handlers not understand. If this is what a company stands for its customers , then this a company that I don’t want to use in the future. No excuses and absolutely disgusting that such a large corporation can refuse to pay for the damages when they are at fault irrespective if they employ a 3rd company to handle their cargo for their customers
Highly disappointing
I am highly disappointed in how SafAir’s customer service. They over charged me and have informed me that I must contact them to make the necessary arrangements. When I call, the prompts do not provide the questions that are related to my issue. When I email the responses are all generic and a number is provided for me to call with the safe response. This is very frustrating as this is a mistake made by the airline and not me. This is also a sneaky way for fly safAir to steal customer’s money as there is no other way to solve this issue.
This is disgraceful!
Booking for assistance for my 87 year…
Booking for assistance for my 87 year old mom. The assistant complaining to help. She tells us she is not allowed to help carry her bag, but is carrying a small bag pack for a 12 year old. She walked so far ahead and my mom couldn't keep up, she nearly fell. Very unhelpful.
Strong armed out of R1000
What makes this situation particularly difficult to accept is that I did everything that was reasonably expected of me as a passenger. I arrived at the airport with sufficient time, checked in online before arriving, and travelled with carry on luggage only specifically to avoid unnecessary delays. The only reason I did not reach the boarding gate sooner was because of the excessive delays at O.R. Tambo’s security checkpoint, a process that is entirely outside of a passenger’s control.
When I finally reached the gate, I arrived just as the display changed from “Final Call” to “Closed.” I was there. I had not abandoned my flight, nor had I arrived at the airport late. I had spent that time standing in an airport security queue.
What disappointed me most was not merely being denied boarding, but the complete absence of any willingness to consider the circumstances. There was no discussion, no attempt to understand what had happened, and no effort to assist. I was simply turned away.
I was then required to pay an additional R1,000 to continue my journey. To add to my confusion, the FlySafair sales consultant who assisted me afterwards, Koketso, questioned why I had not been allowed to board and remarked that the delay was not my fault. Hearing that from one of your own employees reinforced my belief that this situation deserved more than a blanket application of policy without any consideration of the facts.
I fully understand that airlines operate according to boarding deadlines and that operational procedures exist for good reasons. However, policies should not prevent staff from exercising reasonable judgement or showing compassion where a passenger has clearly acted responsibly and the delay has been caused by circumstances beyond their control.
As things stand, I have been left R1,000 out of pocket despite complying with every requirement expected of me. That is not a fair outcome.
While your email advises me to contact the call centre, I believe it is equally important that this complaint remains on record with your Customer Support team. I therefore ask that this correspondence, together with my request for reimbursement of the additional R1,000, be formally escalated to the department or decision makers responsible for customer relations and compensation.
I am seeking a fair resolution, not simply an explanation. I respectfully request that FlySafair reimburse the additional R1,000 I was required to pay as a direct consequence of circumstances outside my control.
I look forward to receiving confirmation that this matter has been escalated and that my request for reimbursement is being properly considered.
No Communication re Seating Policy
The main issue is their total lack of communication in regard to seating. When we checked in 24 hours prior to departure as required there were 4 seats left. Not together and nothing on the aisle. It seems seats are either pre-assigned by travel agents or one can purchase seats. But this is not communicated. My wife and I were not able to sit together. Their Service centre (a Bot) was unhelpful and at the airport they were also unhelpful.

Very disappointed with FlySafair's customer service.
I contacted FlySafair after a passenger on my booking was medically unfit to travel. I was advised that a 50% refund would be processed once I submitted a doctor's letter confirming this.
I submitted the required medical certificate on 24 June and have since sent numerous follow-up emails requesting an update. Despite this, I have received no acknowledgement or response.
I understand that refunds take time to process, but completely ignoring a customer after requesting specific documentation is unacceptable.
I have now had to escalate the matter to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud after exhausting all reasonable attempts to resolve this directly.
FlySafair, could someone please respond to my case and provide an update on my refund request (PNR: V8R1QS)?
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE 😡
My husband got a lift from Limpopo to Pretoria to take a Uber to OR Tambo for 20:30 flight . They got some traffic delays on the road and then the uber driver also took his time to pick him up. He got to the airport 4 min late and they denied him getting on the flight for being 4 mins late . I am so disappointed in Flysafair and the rude staff the dealt with my husband . The inhumane attitude of your response of late is late even 1 min is late and making him sleep on the airport in the middle of winter . What kind of attitude is the towards your customers . I know you have rules but life happens and you also need treat your customers with some kind of respect and humanity. I am totally disgusted , disappointed and lost my confidence in this airline , letting their customer sleep on the airport in discomfort in the cold for 4 mins 😡
On the 29th of May
On the 29th of May, we were assisted by Lungile Mkhulise on departures. It was our first time boarding a flight,, we were panicking since we missed the booked flight. The staff at departures allayed our anxiety and were escorted to the next flight. Thank you so much for your patience.
Damage suitcase
When checking in at security I was told my suitecase was too big for hand lagguage, I always travel with this size. I paid R350 to book it in. At the carousel when picking up my luggage the small lock was cut off and damaging my suitcase. I only had clothes in my suitecase so I can not see the reason for this. Very disappointed, as I traveled numerous times without any problems. I know nothing will come from this and leaving me with a damaged suitcase.
SAFair MONEY MAKING scheme!
SAFair MONEY MAKING scheme!
New money making scheme with SAFair airline... as soon as check-in open, they allocate you a seat you DONT want to sit then charge you fees to select the seat you WANT to sit - WHY am I NOT allowed to do my own check-ins anymore???
I have raised this with them before and stated if you want to select a seat on my behalf go check my seating on all your previous flights to ensure good customer services BUT NO they want MORE money!!!!!!
Will NEVER fly this airline again!!!!!
Great service
Great service, flying from OR to Durban on flight FA414 had a slight issue with my booking and Imogene Ndlovu handled it by advising me with the best option. Really appreciated her human touch in a busy environment where people are just compacted into one box.

Squeezed between a rock and hard place
On 25 April 2026 I traveled from PE to JHB on the 13h55 flight, seated in 33B.
This was the most uncomfortable flight I have ever experienced. I was physically squeezed between the passengers in 33A and 33C for the entire duration. Window seat passenger was significantly oversized for the seat, resulting in me being compressed throughout the flight. Each time he inhaled, the pressure on me increased.
I notified the flight attendant of the situation. I was told there was nothing they could do because the flight was fully booked. No alternative solution was offered
