We had an extremely disappointing experience with this plumbing company and would caution others to be very careful before engaging them. Please note they also operate under Dans Plumbing, Aspire Contracting Pty Ltd and a bunch of other names. Our issue began with a blocked toilet, which we were told was an urgent problem requiring immediate action as the kitchen and bathroom would soon also become blocked and the whole house would be uninhabitable. We were told the tree root intrusion caused a grade 4 curve in the pipe so the sewerage could not be pushed up hill. We felt the plumber provided a lot of pressure on the night for us to sign a contract immediately, under stressful conditions, which resulted in us not being given the time to seek alternative quotes or proper advice. Once signed, we were told we were contractually bound and would need to pay the majority of the quote even if we chose to cancel as they had already “purchased materials” —effectively giving us no choice. Despite the urgency (we had no working toilet in a one toilet house), the actual works weren’t completed for almost two weeks, when we had initially been led to believe it would be resolved in a day or two. During that time, we consulted other qualified plumbers who reviewed the scope of works and advised that the same job should have cost between $3,000 and $5,000. We were ultimately charged close to $16,000, which we now believe to be grossly excessive. When the work was finally completed and the pipe was removed, there was no evidence of a collapsed pipe or tree root intrusion (see attached photo with no blockage in the pipe), nor that there was a raise in the pipe. This lead to serious concerns about whether the excavation and replacement were even necessary. Although they were helpful in providing some photos of certain stages of the work, they were unable to supply the CCTV footage of the initial blockage—which was critical for our Body Corporate. This missing footage has only added to our doubts about the legitimacy of the initial diagnosis. Since then we have discovered multiple consumer complaints and news reports—including stories featured on A Current Affair—highlighting a pattern of aggressive sales tactics and overcharging by this company. In what was already a stressful and urgent situation, we feel we were taken advantage of. We expected a fair and professional service and instead walked away feeling misled and financially exploited. We cannot recommend this company and strongly urge others to get multiple quotes and independent advice before agreeing to any work, especially under pressure.

In June 2024, I engaged Ferguson’s Plumbing for major sewer works at my property. I paid over $24,000 for what was supposed to be a lasting solution, supported by a compliance certificate.

Less than a year later, the system failed again. When I contacted them, I was told a nearby pipe section (mere centimetres from their previous repair) had dislodged. Rather than acknowledge any responsibility under warranty, they quoted me $32,000 verbally for additional repairs — and refused to provide that quote in writing, despite multiple requests.

A second plumber found not only the dislodged section Ferguson missed, but additional issues and offered a detailed written quote for $20,821, covering a full system replacement — for less than Ferguson quoted for a partial fix.

Worse, I later discovered through the VBA that Ferguson’s failed to submit the legally required Consent to Connect for sewer works.

Photos taken during the original job show Ferguson’s team working in the exact location where the second pipe is now visibly dislodged. It’s clear they either missed or ignored this.

This experience has caused ongoing stress and cost. I’ve since lodged a formal complaint with the VBA and Consumer Affairs Victoria.

I strongly recommend getting a second opinion if you're considering using Ferguson’s Plumbing — and ensuring everything is documented in writing.

$15000 for some work. We feel it was a rip off. Pricing is over the top then they don’t care once they have your money. We need an adjustment on the report to claim for insurance and have called 4 times and emailed twice and they keep saying they will get back to us and no one does. It’s been over a month. The only reason it’s not 1 star is because the actual young plumber who did the work was so pleasant and did a great job.

do not trust this company they charged me 1500 for a call out and 1 hrs labour to change a tap set. i had no choice as a had guests arriving the next hr. Management then calls me the next business day and tells me to suck it up and be accountable for your choices. The tap set wasn't worth more than $150 $1,350 for a call out and 1 hrs labour. And they feel justified

Fergusons Plumbing — Absolute Scammers, Stay Away!

Fergusons Plumbing is a complete disgrace and nothing but a bunch of thieves. They are running a scam operation — they take your money upfront and then vanish without doing the job. They lie, make false promises, and once they have your cash, they want more and more.

Do NOT trust this company with a cent. They are only interested in robbing customers blind and have no intention of providing any real plumbing service. This is one of the worst and most dishonest businesses I’ve ever dealt with. Stay far away if you don’t want to get ripped off.

Be aware this business is a SCAM! My mother called Wilson’s Plumbing and these guys Ferguson’s rocked up to do a moisture and leak detection. No thermal gear was used to detect the leak. Only a man with a ladder and photos on an iphone. She was charged $2300 and asked to sign upon work to start. Then quoted $8,200 to clear roof gutters out and camera down the storm water pipes. Please be aware of these people if they come to your house. If you don’t believe me please google “Ferguson Plumbing A Current Affair”.
