We were impressed with the excellent service we have received for the sale of our property. Julie worked relentlessly throughout the process from Day 1 to ensure that our sale and purchase was successful. She always goes the extra mile and maintains a cheerful and positive attitude at all times. Compliments to Julie's team too as they were always very helpful, friendly, efficient and informative. We were kept up-to-date throughout the process. A very professional and trustworthy estate agent.

Matt Eason at Davis Tate worked incredibly hard to help us get all the necessary paperwork in place to enable our Ukrainian guests to move into private accommodation and get their independence. Thanks Matt - all your help was much appreciated.

Davis Tate are the experts you need in turbulent markets. In October I sold my house through the Reading Office and found them professional whilst being highly personable. Charlie Hill a long standing resident in the area, is the Manager and knows the market well, two of my buyers dropped out without good reason, and each time Charlie Hill rapidly found me a replacement buyer at my expected price and as recommended by him. Rebecca Wilkins, the Progress Chaser, kept me informed throughout where the 'legals' stood, not just with my buyer but the whole chain, and eased the discussions about agreeing a completion date. They took a lot of stress out the process and highly recommend them.

Appalling experience with Davies Tate Shinfield.
I have been trying to sell my house with them for almost 10 months. The buyer they found first had no mortgage sorted and they haven't checked his financial situation, I had to chase them all the time to find out that people are playing me up. The second buyer they found and told me have a great financial situation haven't got mortgage and despite they knew about it (I found out accidentally that there is a problem with the mortgage) nobody told me the truth and I wasted time and money! The solicitors they recommend would ignore you for days, their mortgage advisor is clearly not capable to assess the potential buyers - stay away from them at all costs unless you want to waste months and months trying to buy or sell your property!

We've used the Reading branch to both buy and then sell 10 years later. Charlie's team are professional and always made sure to keep us informed as to what was going on. Couldn;t recommend them highly enough. Fees were also very reasonable.

Avoid at all costs, even if they're selling your dream home. It is not worth it and you stand to lose a lot!
Absolutely terrible customer service and organisation. They are single handedly holding up a chain of 2 houses and have ignored almost all emails from the start of this process. They have also lied throughout, right from the first viewing, with claims that turned out to he completely untrue up to us trying to complete the exchange.
Currently have got both buyers in the chain, plus the other estate agent chasing them, to still not even have the courtesy to reply to any one of us.
The person buying our house is going to end up homeless if Davis Tate don't start to action everything that they should have, and they do not appear to care in the slightest.

They are rude and unacceptably bad at their jobs, putting peoples lives in the balance.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Punctual, good communication and sort everything out speedily. Would recommend

Well I have had dealings with bad estate agents but this bunch of cowboys ….. win top prize !
Not only do they think it’s acceptable to treat tenants who have been good tenants like fodder but they think they are law …… not only do they not communicate but they refuse to give you your deposit back as letting managers and senior management ignore your emails.

If you are renting from them ….. Make sure you have photos , everything is done in email and do not let them give you there codswallop on the law as they feed you bull.

And if your a landlord thinking of using them as a management company ….. do not bother your better off putting your money in the bin as they don’t communicate with you or tell you anything about your tenants and problems with your property or advise you on the law requirements.

Luckily enough we know the law and what is and not allowed so they could not take and do just what they like !!!

Be Carful read up on your rights and don’t let these circus performers take you to the cleaners !!

My experience with Davis tate was a really smooth and professional service throughout buying my property, all of there team have shown great support and guidance on every occasion where I needed advice, definitely the company to go to when buying a property!!
They have some really talented consultants in the company that show great determination in helping you find the right house for you!

Our experience with Davis Tate will be our only one with any luck. From start to finish they were unprofessional and communication was terrible. Initially the agent taking photos of the house tried to sell us their parents house, even though we said three times we were not interested and it didn't meet our requirements. In the end he tried so hard to do this that he showed us commute times from his parents house to our places of work!
This was extremely unprofessional, which we flagged with the office but the response was minimal.
Communication was incredibly poor throughout and the amount of chasing we had to do to get basic answers was frustrating. They acted in favour of the buyer throughout and tried to pressurise us into accepting anything that would guarantee them a sale, even though we were paying the fee. They also promised our white goods to the buyer even though this was not agreed (The person that did this has now left).
We rented our property through them also and had an issue on the first day. We raised this however once again they couldn't care less (Funnily enough as they had already collected the fee for selling the house).
Never again, and we will be passing on feedback to all those we know that are looking to buy/sell.

I would like to comment on my personal experience on the effective way Oliver Martin from the Davis Tate Wantage Branch, and Caty Johnston from the Davis Tate Goring-on-Thames branch have been handling the letting, and re letting of our Wantage rental property.
Oliver has done a fine job of finding good tenants for us and organising a smooth changeover from previous tenants for the last 10 years or so.

Caty has been handling the tenants contract matters for the property for us for the same amount of time, she was, and is very kind, helpful, and knowledgeable with her advice on these matters, as this is a ‘legal area’ I hate to delve into.

During the tenancy the agency was ok, they would arrange any fixing I previously reported and they were responsive. However, the issue was at check-out time. I saw a woman and a man leaving the property 3 days before the check out, dressed smart. I had moved out already and I was parking the car so got shocked by that, I couldn't react. Also my ex-neighbour saw a woman leaving the property the following day too. They got in without any appointment and my permission, something that they admitted but of course nothing happened. Also, they wanted to charge me for some missing items that were not missing and broken things that were not broken by me. After some back and forth emails proving them wrong and sending them pictures which were taken at the check-in, they charged me for 3 things. One of them £50 to hang the curtains back because I left them in bags, which I think is excessive because of the amount and even more so as it was unfurnished, I had to sign the document to have the rest of my deposit back though. Lastly, I agreed with the cleaner contractor to have the second set of keys back through the letter box once the cleaning was complete, that was on a Thursday, on that Saturday I went to the property and didn't see the keys. I emailed the agency and the cleaner. I was worried about what they would do. On the next Monday I went to the office to drop my set of keys and they found out that the other set was taken by one of the agents without telling anyone, of course when they went without my permission. I am very disappointed, I looked after the property as if it was mine, it was left in a better condition that I found it because I painted both bedrooms and the living, and it seemed that the check out was not fully compared with the check in. John, Kirsty & Oliver have all been absolutely amazing assisting me with the sale of my property.
They have all been honest and transparent through the whole process.
It is definitely worth using a local agent than one of the online agents.
Your local agent knows the area, they will build relationships with the buyer and help negotiate the right price for your property and if your really lucky they will add a little of amusement along the way!

Davis Tate was advertising a share to buy property where I decided to go with the purchase and paid the reservation fee to a Housing association. As there was no suitable lender, I had to move away from the purchase. Davis Tate did not advise me about the procedure regarding the refund and there was no small grievance with the housing association, where I almost had to take legal actions to get things resolved. Finally the housing association made the refund (with no thanks to Davis Tate). 1 star.

The clientele are not very good calibre. Service is not good at all. Two properties and both not good handling. I would not recommend them . Communication is just a matter of fact for them. Never again .

I can't recommend the firm based on my recent personal experience.

Unfortunately, I had to withdraw from a purchase (this was prior to contract exchange) and received a completely unprofessional phonecall from an employee wanting to know more details as to why.

I highlighted my concerns and reasoning but the employee became more irate over time and was not only berating me for not proceeding, but made several patronising personal remarks indicating I lacked an understanding of some material information. I can assure any readers that I had a very detailed understanding of the matter at hand (surely more than the employee as he misquoted some very important figures throughout) and my decision to proceed was based on some very real concerns.

I should have recognised an earlier red flag when the property survey revealed the highest level of concern in one area and was told it was "no big deal."

I am still flabbergasted that a firm would initiate the call with me and what they felt it would achieve? That I would capitulate and say "oh sure well I'll definitely go ahead then!"

I can completely understand that they had a disappointed vendor, but being rude and unprofessional with the buyer is not the way to resolve anything.

I let my flat via this company. The service was poor before COVID but became terrible after - they made many mistakes (one of which cost me a lot of money) and gave me lots of excuses and downright wrong information. My impression was that they didn't know what they were doing and hoped I wouldn't notice.

They added a lot of stress in a difficult year - it would have been easier not to use them

Really excellent service from Ben and the team at Shinfield. I had an offer in 6 days of it going on the market, and it completed in less than 8 weeks. Ben was candid, honest in every interaction I had with him, He worked really hard to get things moving when the chain started to wobble, and my Buyers also really appreciated his support. If you have a bad opinion about Estate Agents, try Ben and his team at Shinfield! I will certainly be using them again!

We had a bad experience with Davies Tate in Twyford for a chalet bungalow we rented in Hurst. They were misleading and unhelpful from the very beginning.
As an Estate agent has a duty of care towards the tenant, but we found them to be very attached to the two controlling landlords instead.
They conveniently didn’t inform us of them being immediate neighbours until after we were committed. This lead to an uncomfortable tenancy of being spied on and countless intrusions.
The Agents made us pay for both
Check-in and Check- out. It’s only because the landlords disputed the return of our 1.5 month deposit (for redecorating dated interior and blinds) that an independent adjudicator became involved, highlighting this unfairness and thus returning back to us 92% of our deposit whilst overriding their checkout clerk’s findings.
Please be careful with them and ask All the right questions before you sign on the dotted line...

Davis Tate Wantage - John and Oliver have been fantastic during our recent house move! Finding us our first home and making it happen! 🙌 it’s been alittle daunting due to the pandemic happening but they have reassured us and guided us well through our move. Communication was brilliant and always getting back to us so quickly! Highly recommend
