Don't purchase these covers they are made out of inadequate materials that don't last.

Had a change in situation after I ordered a replacement cover for a classic truck, so looked into a return. I expected the 20% restocking fee, but they also had a high return shipping fee. When I suggested I can reject the shipment, they said "...the 20% restocking fee and return shipping cost still apply regardless of how the item makes its way back to us." While I see it as unusual to have to do many returns, except the occasional for cause, the practice of saying you will pay the shipping fee no matter what is telling. You basically end up losing near half the price on a return on a product. They offered me 12% back as an alternative, which I ended up taking and giving the cover away as compared to them getting back near 50% and still being able to resell a new, unopened cover. I lost $142. I would suggest their return policy is poor.

I expected a 20% restocking fee, as documented on your website, not a "return shipping cost still apply regardless of how the item makes its way back to us" as you said in one email. So apparently something closer to a 50% restocking fee would be a more appropriate reference to cover your noted costs?
It is not abnormal (unless an individual is abusive of it) to refuse a shipment but then have to pay a restocking fee. From Google Gemini: [Is it abnormal to refuse a delivery to save on return shipping cost? Response: Not abnormal at all—it's actually a pretty common "life hack" people use to avoid return shipping fees.] It goes on to say the restocking fees may apply.
I chose the $19.39 back alternative on a $161.55 cover and gave away the cover, as at least that would leave a good impression with the buyer of my truck as compared to losing ~50% for unopened cover you can resell. There was no satisfactory resolution in my mind, as there appears to have been in yours.

I reviewed the low star reviews of this company after writing my original review and found similar situations regarding returns from others for a variety of reasons. A restocking fee and return shipping is appropriate, assuming the latter has no undisclosed fees outside of shipping. In my case, they said I’d have to pay what was designated as a shipping fee, which was notably higher than the restocking fee in addition to restocking, no matter how the unopened item made its way back to them (if I chose the return option). That is, as I understood it, whether I rejected the FedEx or paid a carrier directly, their shipping fee still applied. As mentioned above, I took the only other option offered and hopefully the new truck owner was left with a better impression of their transaction than mine with this company.
