Use extreme caution when booking your event at The Grange Venue. We booked and paid for our event months in advance, directly with the owner, Nathan. We provided all requested details, and received confirmation of the booking and payment. Just four days before our son’s 18th birthday party, after contacting the venue we were told our booking “didn’t exist” and that the date had been given to someone else. The explanations kept changing, the owner ignored all contact, and the event planner’s only “solution” was to move our date - completely unacceptable. Unprofessional, disorganised, and unreliable. Thankfully, another better venue saved the day. Do not trust them with your event.
Great company to work with
I was able to book easily. Nathan was very responsive and he made the transaction very easy and seamless. He kept to his words, he delivered on time and pick up on time. I will recommend the company to other people.

I just want to warn you all DO NOT use the grange (Netherton) for hall hire.. we’ve had the worst experience with them :( as much as we had the best wedding day, they have been the only ones to cause us stress!
On returning from our holiday we realised we had so much stuff missing/chucked. On the night of the wedding we grabbed as much stuff as we could whilst being told repeatedly we need to leave and collect the rest of the stuff the next day.. we went on holiday so had a friend collect our stuff so obviously she didn’t know everything we had.. anyways we was missing…
*2 floral baskets (handmade by mum)
* one large floral piece with 3 candles
* 20/30 white food platers
* 10 tiered cake stands
* 4 snack platters
* 1 (take a photo) sign
* 20 personalised pens
* Half a wedding cake and lots of cupcakes (some still in boxes)
As much as some of this is not important who has the right to take/chuck someone’s stuff?!!
We have since got the flowers back by the hired company we used (not ready to name) but they were told by the the staff at the grange they could take them and witnessed the platters etc get chucked in the bin..
When asking the grange(Nathan) for extra evidence on who took the rest he said he had already spent hours going through the cameras and it was quite clear the hired company took the lot. This also took 9 days to view camera footage of who took them.
I have since asked for an email address so I can explain everything I was not happy with, he has read the message and not bothered to reply.. we original booked with Abbie who was great! She left and then the run up to the wedding we was dealing with Sanjay even though our first meeting was meant to be with Nathan,who we waited half hour for before he txt and said Sanjay could just do it even though he didn’t know a lot to our questions..said someone would contact us never did..
A month before the wedding we was told we wasn’t allowed a champagne wall (hired) that they originally ok’d if we paid corgage fee..
The day before the wedding we was told we could have the hall from 1-5 to decorate. we get to the hall and its already being used.. Sanjay told us they’d be finished by 1:30 but no, we then asked the people ourselves and they told us they’d had it booked till 2. That meant the hired company sat for an hour not being able to do anything which then meant we felt we should help them play catch up. We was also promised tables and chairs to be set out but nope we also done that. It gets to 3:15 and Sanjay is closing shutters standing by the front door ready to go.. we are not happy with how it was left but the hired company went over everything the following morning (luckily)..
Day of wedding..
2 bar staff for 130 people, one didn’t know what he was doing.. not his fault obviously hadn’t had training or done the bar part before..
They ran out of glass’s so guests being given cans of beer.. then a few days later to be told we weren’t getting our £100 damage deposit back because they have been fined £5100 for having alcohol bought in (which was a total lie they didn’t get fined!!). Sanjay messaged us saying if you pay the £5100 we will give you the £100 back.. since we have been told by a number of people they don’t like to give deposit back!
Dirty toilets, no lock on door ran out of toilet roll.. luckily I took some as was told by my sister the day before there was none in there! Was spoken multiple times rudely/lied to by Sanjay and Nathan as we didn’t meet him we had to go through texts. He often never responded or was very blunt and never cared how we felt about using the grange.. I could really go on but it’s getting to the point where it’s more like a book. Just please do not use them and use a different venue to save yourself a lot of agro!!
Poor lunch options
There were only unhealthy lunch options from the van outside. When I chose a hot sausage roll from the menu they told me to go inside to the coffee place. I did but the staff could not find the one I wanted instead they gave me an unlabeled one by the process of elimination. It was cold and was informed that they could not heat it up but the van outside could. I went to the van who initially said that they could not heat it up but when I pointed out the menu said "hot" they agreed to put the item in an oven. Unfortunately, they put silver foil around the roll ensuring that only the surface was heated, the inside was stone cold. On top of this the roll was not the paprika one I ordered and the meat was very fatty and unhealthy tasting.
Run down
The venue looked very run down, walls had marks all over, holes in the ceiling tiles, floor looked and felt dirty. There was a cleaning trolley left between vending machines which looked unprofessional, and also not ideal when you have children around. Toilets were dirty and hardly any toilet roll.
Drinks were very expensive and very warm, it was a warm day and the drinks were left in the sun and were very warm.
Staff charged different prices everytime for spirits.
When we got to the venue, we had to set up tables and chairs, which were stacked extremely high, to the point it felt dangerous getting chairs off, and when even had to ask staff to help remove excess chairs and tables from the hall and take outside.

Great service but no care for personal items
Went there for a recent wedding. The service from the 2 girls working the bar was great.
The only issues we had was there was a leak in the disabled toilets where the belongings and items for the wedding was stored and a few items were damaged. When we went to collect the items with a friend there was also items missing.

So let me start with my ONLY negative. When I first booked it, communication was difficult and the person booking (I won't mention names) lost the contract and I had to give extra details to help them find it so that was stressful. However, as we got closer to the day I dealt with the manager Nathan and he was INCREDIBLE! Super friendly, very helpful, very responsive and very welcoming! I would definitely recommend this venue and book again if I was having another big event.

I loved that the venue was open before we arrived. The staff were friendly. We didn’t have to worry about cleaning after the party too. The cost was great too.

Provided the entertaiment for Aaron's 21st birthday Friday 27th. Great acces for vehicles with plenty of parking. Really easy to get the gear in and out with really helpful staff. This is a nice venue, our first visit and although it was chilly at first, the staff put the heating on when asked and it soon warmed up. The room has good acoustics and ample power supply, just where needed. Thanks to Nathan and his team for a great experience and for letting us leave the van overnight. Hope to see you all again soon.
