I was looking for a proper chair for my wife as she has problems with her legs. I mailed Charter house on a Sunday and they made contact Monday. Ed came out and demonstrated a mobility riser recliner chair. He took measurements of my wife so the chair could be made to fit. The demonstration chair he brought with him actually fitted perfectly and she had instant relief. We were told between 3 & 8weeks for it to be built if we wanted one. We didn’t at any time feel pressured into buying if we had said no that would have been an end. The chair was ready in 4 weeks. The two gentlemen that delivered the chair ( Jack and Tom) were both very friendly and respectful of our property, they removed their shoes immediately after they entered the hallway. They made sure the chair was situated where we wanted it and made sure my wife was comfortable with it before they left. Although other reviews state they are pricey they are built to suit the individual, bespoke things cost more. The quality of the build is very good, being an engineer I obviously looked at it closely. I have noticed an improvement in my wife already. The best outcome I could have hoped for. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Charterhouse Mobility to anyone who needed mobility furniture.

Joe visited today to demonstrate a chair for my mother.
Mum is 90, profoundly deaf, has Alzheimer’s and is going blind so I tend to get a bit anxious when strangers need to enter the property. I need not have been concerned at all. Joe was amazing with her. Every aspect was covered sensitively and checked for understanding. At just 4ft 9in mum has never found a chair small enough for her. This bespoke chair will be made to her measurements and specifications. The price was more competitive than I anticipated and was happy to place the order. Overall this was a very positive experience and Joe should be commended for his level of customer care and service.

Chair delivered today 08/02/2025 and put together and positioned exactly where we wanted by two very friendly guys,I’m happy to say finally I’ve got the perfect chair,after speaking to Adam at head office he talked me through what chair would suit as I’m obese in weight and then said he could send out a guy named Joe another true gentleman who would come with a chair and demonstrate how it works and what it’s made with and told me all products are sourced locally and the motors are German supplied,Joe took my height measurement and weight and made sure the new chair was wider than the demo one and he also carrys numerous samples of colours etc with him, I was under no pressure at any time to purchase the chair,all in all I’m very happy I chose Charterhouse mobility for my new chair,many thanks to Adam and all the staff involved,Geoff (Tamworth)

I met a lovely gentleman sales person, very lovely to talk to listen in which product your of your choice . Explained why it was better made to fit company, very honest . Thank you Henry . You made it more simple . Can't wait for my recliner to arrive

Henry was a perfect gentleman, he explained all about the chair, how it was made, the mechanism, structure and demonstrated it in a way my 90 year old mother understood, he showed patience and answered any questions confidently

Joe answered all my questions, took the time explain everything to me and put no pressure on me to decide. I had a lovely experience and would recommend to anyone.

Henry was very professional and informative in demonstrating the chair, which seemed very comfortable. We are anxiously awaiting delivery.

Joe was very professional and explained everythink about the chairs and what they can do. The choice of fabrics and colours was very good, which pleased the wife. In comparision to the Lazyboy settee with adjustable seats that we had for only a few weeks, the quality was far superior. Yes the price is a bit more expensive, but as they say you only get what you pay for. Would recommend them.

I used this company to buy a bespoke adjustable bed for my 98 year old mother. This company is professional, informative, sensitive and solution focused. My mum and I had many questions. All the staff we had contact with, including Jennifer, who was my contact in the company and (Ray?) who demo the bed at her flat, were warm, friendly and patient! She enjoyed the attention! The end result is that my mum is very happy with her bed and reports that she is having the best sleeps in years! This company is a pleasure to engage with and their communication is exceptional.

Ray, the demonstrator who came to demo the chair has been fantastic, very supportive and always looking out for what will be comfortable for Mum. He is a knowledgeable person and really knows what he is doing. He was very kind, reliable and on time. He represented the company so well, I would recommend this company to anyone. 5*+

Oh my goodness. My first words to Henry were,"I will not be buying anything today as I want to compare first!" He understood. He then built a chair and measured all parts to my requirements and I loved sitting in it, he did the same with a bed, and I loved it. I chose my fabrics. We came to an agreement on price when he matched another quote I'd had. I just bought both chair and bed. I've never gone back on 'my won't buy today' before, but just knew I couldn't do better! I might've fallen a little bit in love with Henry for selling me exactly what I need! Thank you Henry x

The communication since our first enquiry has been very good. Henry came out and demonstrated a recliner chair. He was very patient & explained everything and discussed all options. There was no sales pressure. We decided to proceed with the order that was suitable to us. Would recommend.

Mark came to demonstrate an electric recliner chair to us. He was clearly very experienced, very courteous and knew what he was talking about. we eventually agreed to purchase the chair and were told it could be quite a long delivery wait, but it was only about 3 weeks. It is fairly expensive, but the quality is excellent and I would definitely recommend this company.

My mother has been pressured into spending £4,000 today for a riser recliner, first half payment went out today so I called to query this and they used GDPR to avoid discussing with me despite the fact I told them I have Financial LPA. Clearly out to exploit vulnerable elderly people.

UPDATED: Total cost of chair - £4,800!

In response to Charterhouse's response: I agree my mum was happy with ordering the chair - she cannot get out of the care home and the sales person went in to see her, was very nice to her, took her measurements and went through all the features to ask what she wanted. Only then at end presented the price and told her that was what she would have to pay.

She is not able to shop around being unable to walk and is not really able to research prices (even if she were companies like this make sure not to make prices available online).

The staff member 'present' was just a member of nursing staff who are busy with all residents and not permitted to get involved in residents finances for obvious reasons.

Charterhouse took £2,100 from my mum's account within 3 days of the sales visit.

Charterhouse announced a half price sale less than 2 weeks after the visit and before the chair was delivered.

My family do not want to upset her by telling my mum she was overcharged, but having done my own research and spoken to other care providers similar chairs are available at half the price.

The sales person went in to charge the maximum they thought they could get away with, almost £5,000.

Not illegal - but certainly immoral.

I cannot recommend Charterhouse too highly from the initial visit to assess my needs to the delivery of a very comfortable, well sprung Durham recliner/riser chair. The adjustable head cushion, arm covers and Staingard treatment with 5 yr guarantee all added to the overall quality
