Customer care I think not
After some time watching my ACACIA baileyana 'Purpurea' not doing very well in the garden I decided to dig it up and see what was going on, basically I think that it looks like not a lot.
There do not appear to be any new roots or foliage.
Pictures attached.
Can you replace this for me?
Sorry to hear of the problem with your acacia. It does look the roots have rooted, this or perhaps a frost has caused the rest to suffer.
Acacias do require a good sunny position with a well drained soil, also need a sheltered position away from all but light frosts.
Sorry to say that we are unable to replace anything from November 2023.
Well, I have never been so gobsmacked in my life.
Please point out to me where there is a new root for one. As far as I am concerned this plant is in EXACTLY the same condition as I got it in and has never grown one iota, no new roots, and no new leaves. How this is not what is covered in your guarantee I fail to understand.
The plant was in a sunny south facing position in well-drained soil and sheltered by a garage and a house a short distance away in order to stop the wind having an effect on a young plant, we are on the south coast and in a warm area. Do not forget that you dispatched this to me in November 2023, I would not have planted it at that time but waited for more clement weather. It appeared to survive the journey and the planting.
As a young plant it was protected over the winter with a polystyrene disc on the ground round the stem in order to keep the frost away from the roots, fleece wrapped round it and in a windproof fleece bag. Just what else would you have me do?
So, because I took the time to plant it in better weather conditions than that it was sent out in and I gave it some time to recover and then make some growth you consider this to be an unreasonable time to allow for a replacement.
Guarantee
We guarantee to replace or refund the cost of plants which fail to survive for a reasonable period of time after delivery providing they have been cared for correctly after delivery and the blame can fairly and reasonably be attributed to the Nursery rather than to extremes of weather or other hazards beyond our control.
So, for the sake of £20 you have p...... off a returning customer.

Poor response on enquiry
I contacted their customer service email address enquiring as to the potential availability of a particular plant listed on their website. It was listed on the website as being available from May 25. I sent them email on 30th April 25.
I sent the email specifically to understand whether a more specific range of dates were available - so I could amend my own plans as necessary for planting out an area.
I was told that there were not sure of the exact date, depends on growing conditions & it would be best if I added my email against the plant to be notified.
One day after my enquiry on the 1st May 25 I received an automated email confirmation that the plant was available to purchase.
I think given the plant was clearly ready, or one day away from being ready to purchase - they could have been more proactive and unfortunately, they lost some sales due to their customer service on this occasion.

Tiny camellia and poor customer service
The 3 yr old camellia Donation I ordered was very much smaller (only about 6 inches high) than I anticipated from Burngoose's images, even allowing for their illustrative nature. At £24 plus delivery charges this is remarkably poor value for money. When I said how disappointed I was I was asked to send an image of the camellia and someone would get back. Having had no response after almost a week I contacted Burngoose again. Their response was "that's the size of a 3 yr old camellia" and as for the delay in responding "we're busy and that's the way it is'. Poor.
Dissapointed
Went today and although it was raining still thought would give it a shot. The cafe is really just a tent cover with a few chairs and tables and open to the weather so didn't stop for that. Did however choose three plants only little ones and when got to the til found they were £11.50 each nearly left them but thought we had co.e all this way should go home with something. However, when we got to the til both the members of staff who I might add had seen us there kept continuing with their conversation and not acknowledging us at all. Eventually the member of staff took one of the plants scanned it and plonked it back on the counter not making contact and still continuing her conversation with the other person. Eventually the other person did apologise for as she put it butting in but continued to do so. This was our first visit her we found it very expensive and felt your members of staff were very rude indeed. Probably will not go there again. And certainly will discourage others to go there. I feel that although you have had gold at chelsea flower show a few times you really do need to get better than bronze for your customer care

Eating humble pie
I wrote a review a couple of weeks ago very disappointed about Rhododendron Fragrantissimum not producing scent. A week after opening its flowers, the replacement one is now producing a lovely scent, and the old one is even producing a mild scent!
My experience was that these flowers smell as soon as they open.Manifestly, this was not the case with these plants. Might I suggest that a lot of upset, and a bad review, might have been avoided if it had been explained to me that this particular cultivar might take a few days to begin to produce scent? Customer relations are very important.

Very disappointed old Burncoose customer
I am an old Burncoose customer. Two years ago, I bought two Rhododendron Fragrantissimum. Neither produced any scent when they bloomed. Finally, after much debate, Burncoose replaced 1 Rhododendron.
They said the problem was the way I was cultivating the plant. Just today, the replacement is flowering: again scent-free. And as a life long gardener, and someone who has grown this Rhododendron before, I know the problem is the plant not the cultivation.
Then I ordered two Hamamelis Mollis two years ago.
One plant was manifestly a wild succour. After much debate, they finally agreed to replace that.
No apologies for all the time wasted, or for being sent the wrong plants.
I will never use Burncoose again.
Ordered a camellia for an anniversary…
Ordered a camellia for an anniversary gift, when received it was unhealthy looking and bug infested. Nobody responded to emails, so called directly, could not of cared less! I asked for a healthy plant to be sent out or a refund, they arranged for collection & informed me when collected I would be refunded. 10 days later yet again no correspondence & no refund!
