During the pandemic when things were tight Brake Brothers rang me up to see if i was interested in opening an account.I said i would think about it.shortly afterwards i decided to sign up online but my application was not being accepted.
The following morning i rang them up and explained what had happened and they ran me through a number of questions and basically the long and short of this story was the amount i would be spending was not enough.Basically they are only interested in big business clients.Family businesses do not get a look in.I do not know what figure would get you into this exclusive outfit.But from talking to the brakes rep 2000 pounds a month is not enough.What Brakes do not appreciate is that all these small businesses add up to a considerable amount of money that they are just throwing away .I just hope they do not come knocking on my door when the wheels come off their silly policy.

Like other businesses here our account was shutdown with a short notice (4 days) & no alternative given. The least they could do was make collection an option, until we find other suppliers.
Really disappointed how they've treated the small businesses - who should've gotten more support from them especially after such a difficult last year.

Absolutely disgusted in the fact Brakes decided to close down our account with no pre-warning. I went to complete our weekly delivery to be ‘locked out’ of my account - for the customer service team to have no explanation, no solution, other than ‘yeah, our seniors have decided to close your account’.
We are a small business, recovering from a pandemic like everyone else - and for our main supplier to drop us with no warning or date given has well and truly affected us!
This behaviour is abhorrent and I have never heard anything like it in my life. If you had given us a month or two to sort out a new supplier maybe we would have been able to deal with this better. We have been dropped in the busiest weeks of the year for us due to local festivals.
In addition to this when I was a customer with them spending a lot of money, deliveries were late and didn’t turn up, items were constantly missing on orders, and bank charges were significantly higher than the charges on the order confirmation.
I have never written such a bad review or warned other people so much in my life - I don’t think you (Brakes) understand how much you have impacted people’s livelihoods. You should be ashamed.
If you are a smaller business, DO NOT USE BRAKES!! THEY DO NOT CARE FOR YOUR CUSTOM!

Dear Trustpilot, please can we have a "no star" or even better, a "negative star" category for the likes of Brakes??
Like most/many/all of the businesses here, we have been dumped by Brakes. We have done everything to meet their terms of business - including paying higher prices for certain items just to meet minimum order values and to be able to get the items we can only get from them - only to be told they no longer want our business.
They are not the only ones struggling right now. We can't get staff - but we don't close our doors and tell our customers to p*ss o*f!! One day this will all be resolved and Brakes will (hopefully) regret their actions. I have other suppliers who are exactly the opposite. They will do anything to keep our business and a couple are actually trying to source the products we could only get from Brakes for us. I hope they can, but either way we will always support them as they have supported us - unlike the backstabbers that are Brakes.
We only spend £1000 per month with Brakes. How many others like us spend "only" £1000 per month?
But I suppose if they are supplying less customers, they won't need as many reps? Take their company cars of them and give them all vans - as one of their competitors has done! Clearly Brakes' management has no brains - or should that be "Branes".
And Brakes' media puppet - don't reply to this as you are a bunch of two faced *&^%$£"s!!

Today we received a call from Brakes to inform us that they will no longer be able to supply our bakery & catering social business in the rural Highlands of Scotland. No prior warning and leaving us and many others in the lurch with no other supplier available to supply us. This should be a no star review for Brakes as clearly they are only interested in supplying large accounts where the delivery mileages are low. Whilst we appreciate the challenges being faced by the distribution & supply sector, Brakes actions are going to force small rural catering businesses to close!!
We were contacted this morning and told that Brakes will be unable to deliver to us from next week. We are frantically trying to source products elsewhere but they clearly didn't consider us important enough to give us any notice. They took over our small regional supplier so we had to move to them, now they are only interested in large accounts and multiple operators. You can tell what a company is like from how it treats it's small accounts!

Just been told that Brakes can no longer deliver to my business, because of drivers shortage!
But they will still deliver to the next door restaurant literally next door customer in the same day as I always get deliveries!! What can I say! Brakes you do not care about your customers and please do not reply to this because you don't care.
I have also just been told my account has been suspended!!!! I pay cash on delivery so do not understand firstly there use of language or secondly why they are penalising small businesses who should be getting supported at these tough times.
1 weeks notice is disgusting and I hope when they need the small businesses support once things are better, every business tells them to stick it.

No Stars From Me. Dropped as a customer from Brakes today, claming they are dropping all takeaway shops due to shortages with HGV drivers. Very disappointed with this as last year takeaways were all the buisness they had due to hotels, restaurants and schools being closed, we were their bread and butter and now just droppped with out a care. Only given 1 weeks notice aswell.
This will have a huge impact on my buisness. Only caring about there big clients.
I realise there is a proplem just know but im sure they could have tried to help out all their customers. Disgusting.
Will never be back.

If you are a small business I would suggest not to become a customer of Brake. Believe it or not they have just suspended our account because 5 out of the 28 items we buy off them are suffering from issues with supply. So for the sake of 5 items we are no longer allowed to buy any items off of them.
This is a company who are clearly only interested in their larger clients and we are now going to have to make some major changes to our menu because we are now no allowed to buy any items from them anymore.
We also have monies owed to us that should have been credits but were recharged. Emails were sent about this 8th October and no one from credit control has bothered getting back to us.
All in all this is a massive corporation who couldn't care less about there smaller clients.

We are on a fairly busy street in Glasgow and watch your vans drive by at least two times a day. It's clear we are just not spending enough money and we are being dropped in favour of your bigger clients. So my previous comment stands DO NOT USE BRAKE IF YOU ARE A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER. Do not design menus around what they supply as they may just drop you and then you will be in the situation we find ourselves in wondering what we are going to do next having been barred from ordering anymore.

Item was listed as in stock on the website, I was emailed 3 days after the payment was taken that the items would take 30 days.
When It came to the delivery being sent, I was sent the wrong item even though it was listed on the delivery list as the right one, pick up for the wrong item has been a mess and I was told fed ex would do a pick up but they never turned up. I will never use brakes again.

I feel that it’s a disgrace to be charged to call them to place an order. Even though your a customer. Just another way to make customers pay there phone bill . When most other companies have a regular free of charge number to call.PS. They also make you wait few several mins going through the process even though they charge you for this. Shame on them

10 years trading, never saw company like Brakes.
I tried to order in June but the next available slot was 28th of August. I tried to order 1st of September and the next available slot was 28 of October.
When i called and i caught a guy in telephone, i tried to find 1 second my account number, he hanged up the telephone.They gave me very silly excuses that they can't bring me anymore products.(They passing with them lorry every day out of my shop )...
1 star is too much for Brakes.

I have to say , if it was an option off giving zero start, OR LESS , I would put that as my rate. That 's how bad it is this company. I have been using it for one year now. I could definitely write a book about how bad it is from day one. I did try and try to give them a chance to get better, I was dreaming , never happened , just getting worse and worse,

How you can cancel so many customers with one day notice and you hope for them to return to you when you sort your s*** out ?
Do you really think that this people they will ever work with you again?
for sure was another way to solve this staff shortage. I close my coffee shop for a week to find other supplier .
you should make at least a day every 2 weeks for small business, or tell us in advance !

This company is killing small businesses , we are a small business in the hart of Newbury , we change our menu in june 2021 base on the brakes catalogue and a week after they didn't want to deliver to us , we spent lots of money to develop our menu and also to print them. The pizza place next door is having deliveries from brakes every week but they said they cant deliver to me because they don't have drivers !!!
Probably you treat your drivers how you treat your customers !!
I have used Brakes as our sole provider of food since I bought the business 6 years ago.
A charming lady called Aileen came and helped me set up the menus and worked hard to give us a great deal.
How things have changed.
When trying to place an order we ended up getting an automated message saying that we would not be able to order with them again and our account was suspended.
When we actually built the whole menu around their products this is pretty poor business.
I’ve never heard of a business model that thinks it’s a good idea to tell customers to find another supplier.
I did manage to speak to a human after a long wait and they just verified their stance.
I’m not sure how they can come back from this as this is a pretty catastrophic decision but guess that’s not my problem as we will adjust and it seems other food suppliers are happy to take our business.
If Aileen still works for the company I’m sure she will be mortified by this shambles.
Not the staff fault they are only following orders. They must be struggling to defend the indefensible bless them.
Anyway there’s a saying that nothing lasts forever and that’s true with these.

Been with brakes since 2019 but all of a sudden no delivery have spoken to finance manager! Who said would love to help me get my order back but only if I can guarantee 25k a year!we are a small pub that does some food but 2k plus a month is beyond us.very bad business as was ordering all through lockdown.

I started my business in 2020 and had an account with Brakes, with the situation with covid and going into lock down i have not ordered as much products from them, but ordered last month and went to place an order today to find they can not deliver to me i have recieved nothing from them informing me of this and i am now having to find a new supply or change menu due to this .. it is disgusting the way they have approached this and did not inform me so i could prepare before stock ran out.. had to give a star to write review otherwise wouldnt have even given them any stars
