My son's provider, Lori, is very kind, patient, and a brilliant speech therapist. She has helped my son make leaps and bounds since when he first started. He could not ask for the things he needed, and now he can ask for what he wants. At first we were afraid that online therapy woyld not hold his attention, but we were wrong, it worked really well. She was also able to teach him who, what, where, and why. These questions are difficult because there is no visual representation, but she was successful in teaching him.

Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs because they only want your money, and will not provide you the services that you've paid for. Their auto-billing and costs are ridiculous, and while there is promise to work with you for insurance purposes post-payment, they do not help you as they have already been paid by you. There is no incentive for them to help you to (1) receive the services you've paid for, and (2) receive reimbursement from insurance.

(3) Our intake assistant clearly identifies as an AI at the start of every conversation; all clinical sessions are with US-licensed SLPs.

Disappointing Experience — Poor Platform and Zero Customer Support
My experience with Better Speech was extremely frustrating on multiple levels.
1. Outdated Platform:
The booking system is clunky and inefficient. Every time you schedule a session, you must manually re-enter your name, email, and phone number — nothing is saved. You also can’t book sessions in advance — only your therapist can. This means you have to create two reminders: one for your upcoming session and another a few days later just to log in and try to book the next one (because availability is rarely open more than a week in advance). Even worse, the platform displayed my booking in Central Time while showing it to the therapist in Eastern Time, which caused my therapist to arrive an hour late.
2. Unprofessional Therapist:
My second therapist spent over 95% of both sessions talking about therapy theory, his own qualifications, and how many sessions I supposedly need. There were no real exercises, no personalization, and no practical therapy. I gave it two tries, thinking the first might have been an introduction, but the second session was just more of the same. This was not therapy — it was a lecture.
3. No Refund Policy and Poor Customer Service:
Despite clearly explaining that no actual therapy occurred and providing context, Better Speech refused to refund or credit the sessions. Their policy seems to be: as long as you showed up to the session, they consider the service fulfilled — regardless of its quality. There’s no guarantee of actual therapeutic value, only that the therapist is licensed.
4. Online Speech Therapy is Ineffective:
Even the good therapists face limitations. They try to guide you on tongue and mouth movement, but the video quality is too poor to demonstrate anything clearly. You can't see their tongue, and they can't see yours. In-person therapy is far more effective — I’d say at least 200% more — and that’s what I’ll pursue moving forward.
At $80 per 30-minute session, I expected a professional, streamlined, and helpful experience. Unfortunately, what I received was far from that.

Several of the issues you raised were the catalyst for changes we shipped over the last 12 months: (1) The booking platform was rebuilt — client details are now saved and clients can book up to 4 sessions in advance directly, not only via the therapist. (2) The timezone display bug you ran into was fixed in our July 2025 release; bookings now display in the client's timezone on both ends. (3) If a session is unproductive for clinical reasons, our Clinical Director (Lenora Edwards, CCC-SLP) personally reviews and approves credits or therapist re-matches — please email lenorae@betterspeech.com with your account email so she can look at your two sessions. We don't expect this reply to change your mind, but future readers should know these specific problems have been addressed.

Please google this company. There are tons of stories on Reddit about their scam of a subscription model. They architect their terms of agreement to suck you into paying for a subscription after offering a “free evaluation.” They have terrible support and make it challenging to cancel while banking on you paying for their services monthly and limit refunds. Buyer be ware! Know that you may be refunded your last two payments and any services you have paid for outside of that are a wash. Lots of issues around actually receiving the service you pay for in reviews however my personal experience is around issues with autopayments.
Update June 2026 : Better Speech flagged my review as defamatory and it was reviewed by trust pilot and found it was not. Yet another example of the bad business practices of the company. As if referencing their BBB rating being an A in their response while it’s clearly mediocre here proves something.

We paid our first month and received an email confirmation for the first session. No one showed up, and no cancellation was sent. It looks like they have a lot of bugs to work out.

I found the billing system confusing and unclear that you are paying per month instead of per session. It is based in the US and therefore it costs US dollars. It should be clearer on the website.

Mitzi was awesome
Our therapist, Mitzi, was so friendly and great to communicate with, both for myself as the parent and for my daughter. She is great with children. I loved the flexibility of doing the therapy over zoom rather than having to go to some other location. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because I did not like that the system for Better Speech would charge me each month but not let me know and so I never knew exactly when money would be coming out of my account, and also accessing invoices/receipts is way more difficult than I think it ought to be.

Good Therapist, Terrible system/service.
The therapist was quite good, but the service itself was bad. I understand that this is a for-profit business, but the policies in place are too aggressive. The billing cycle is every 4 weeks, rather than every 4 classes. So anytime either you or the therapist needs to reschedule, the billing cycle needs to be adjusted, which is confusing and a pain. It would be much easier for the consumer to simple pay per session or every 4 sessions, but I am sure they make a little more money this way. So they place the inconvenience on the consumer. Cancelling or pausing the service is also a pain. The entire website works perfectly, except for that section. Again it seems either deceptive or unnecessarily difficult, just to frustrate the consumer into keeping the service. Finally, when you do need to "Quit Therapy" you get all the scare tactics thrown at you, such as "you will lose you therapist", "you will not have access to your medical records for reimbursements," and "you will lose all the therapy notes." We liked the therapist, but unfortunately will have to look for another service.

This company appears to be a scam
This company appears to be a scam. They tell you they will match you within 24-48 hours and services will be $65 a session. Without authorizing it, they charged our credit card $240 after the intake, before any services were rendered, and before they scheduled the first meeting. This is unheard of in the healthcare industry to charge before getting services. It has been eight days, and we still have not heard from anyone about scheduling the first appointment even though they already charged us. I finally got an email back saying they are trying to match us with someone in our area despite the fact their website advertises no wait time. How about not charging until after the first session????

Betterspeech.com provides access to licensed speech therapists and practice materials. The website has some navigational issues that can be a little confusing. The billing process is convoluted as clients have to request a "Superbill" that is initiated by the therapist for clients to submit to insurance. Unfortunately, the therapists cannot answer questions about the billing invoice and only their personal name and address show on it. Insurance rejected my claims as they couldn't contact the company for verification. I resubmitted claims with Betterspeech.com's phone number and hope the claims are approved and that I will receive some covered reimbursement. The therapy itself was satisfactory.

Refused to do my prior auth.
The service from the company is terrible. My health insurance required prior auth for my daughter's therapy. I asked them to complete it and they said 'no, we don't do that.' It makes no economic sense for me to pay full price to use Better Speech, when my insurance will cover it 100% (with a provider who will do my prior auth).
No where on their site does it indicate they will not complete a prior auth.
The therapist was excellent. The idea of virtual speech therapy is great. Their failure to meet their customers needs will be their downfall.
I'm also a pediatrician and you can bet I'll be sharing this experience with my network.

Significant speech improvement after stroke
After my dad's stroke, he struggled with speech issues, but, thanks to Better Speech, his speech has improved significantly.
