I have been a member of the BDA all my working life, but have used their services more frequently in the last few years when I was diagnosed with a long term health condition working in the community dental service. I have had excellent advice, support and guidance from my representative. I felt like she fought my corner, in ensuring my employers made reasonable adjustments to ensure I could keep working as long as possible, and most importantly she also provided great emotional and psychological support, throughout my time at work and also through the process of ill health retirement. I cannot thank her, and the BDA enough.

Switching to the indemnity cover of the BDA is a decision that I strongly recommend to every dentist who wants to be in the safest, most genuinely dedicated and professional hands. I joined the BDA indemnity and was helped by the dento-legal team in an issue that was unfairly initiated by my previous insurer, a so called “claims based insurer”.
For every dentist who is interested in an indemnity that complies with the GDC regulations and simultaneously puts the dentists and patients interest in the focus, an insurer who offers an “occurrence based cover” and NOT an insurer that is alone interested in collecting their premiums under any circumstances putting the dentist and the public in risk, I strongly recommend the BDA indemnity.
Moreover, the BDA team represented me in the mentioned subject regardless as when I joined their indemnity, a clear indication to their dedication and interest to improve the practicing environment of dentists.

BDA Live updates has been 'my go to' every week. Every Monday I will go through all the live updates and it has kept me up to date with all the new and many developments in dentistry. Am loving the Good Practice newsletters too. Well done to all at The BDA and thank you.

I had a major problem with Pension issues and felt I had no one to turn to for help .
I ,more in hope than expectation ,contacted the BDA about the issues .
They immediately put me through to the pension specialist, she was very knowledgeable, very supportive and guided me through the different issues I encountered over the number of months it took to resolve the problems.
Great service on the one occasion I really needed it.

Recently joined the BDA for indemnity and I wish I’d done it sooner! Loads of great cpd courses, access to so many journals and books but best of all support if you need it and they seem to always work with the dentist in mind. Definitely recommend!

BDA have been an excellent support for me this last year :
- loads of help for staff related questions on furlough, maternity and up to date advice and support
- they took a petition forward with GDC for better regulation of annual retention fee.
- really appreciate the templates for policies. Makes practice admin so much easier

We need to keep supporting our BDA.

BDA have really upped their game and are fighting for all dentists across the UK. Although maintaing professionalism is important, it was important for the union to become slightly more assertive in order to represent dentists effectively. The softy softly approach didn't work and it is great to see that a new team are fighting our corner.

I recently required advice and assistance due to being TUPE'd in my employed work from an NHS community post to a Corporate organisation. The adviser was very knowledgeable and brought up and advised on a number of issues I would never have even known to consider. Great service for an employed dentist on the essential membership. Pity I'd have to pay double, to upgrade my membership, to get advice for my 1 day a week self employed role, which makes it unfeasible.

The service offered by the BDA library is outstanding. Requests are dealt with quickly and efficiently. Research, continuing personal and professional development have continued uninterrupted during the lockdowns - thank you.

The BDA has been very supportive during the Covid pandemic. It has been a source of upto date information and has been very focused in directing the dental profession through this incredibly difficult time. Thank you again to all the staff at the BDA

The BDA team, managed in my case by Alun McLean, have been superb in negotiating with my employer and supporting me throughout my ill health retirement process. I can not thank them enough for what they have done for me. A truly brilliant service that I cannot recommend enough.

From the start of the pandemic the BDA has been very proactive in providing information and updates as government policies developed.
A trusted source for me, helping me structure the my practice during the triage and then return to work phases.
A reassuring support.

I dont think the BDA look outside of London and help manage the msaller practice or stand for what we need to deal with.
