I did this trek with Pemba (my awesome guide)..very experienced and friendly..always happy to take photos and share knowledge about little hamlets and local flora and fauna throughout the trek. I’ve been lucky to have experienced the panoramic views of Sleeping Buddha and Mt. Everest from Sandakphu on a clear day (prior 2 days and after were very cloudy). Nice accommodation in clean rooms with attached bath and comfortable beds in the home stays / lodges (with hot water). Savoured local tea and lip smacking good food. I can’t thank Pemba enough for taking care of me and ensuring that I had enjoyable and memorable experiences including Tongba (millet beer). Mr. Subhash has been very responsive to my questions from pre-booking to last minute hotel accommodation after the trek. I highly recommend Ashmita Trek and Tours, will surely come back.

This was the best trekking I've ever had :) Everything was very well organised, everybody was very helpful with organisation and preparing to trekking. Our guide Pemba was the best one, we felt save and well took care. We had real fun, the views were magnificant and all of this with atmosphere of joy and happiness. I really recommend Ashmita Trek & Tours :)

We just finished the Darjeeling Singalila Ridge trek. We had an excellent guide, Pemba, from Ashmita Trek and Tours. He has the widest knowledge about the geography, the plants, everything. He took care of all our needs during the trek. We highly recommend Ashmita Trek and tours and especially the guide Pemba for anyone considering taking a Trek in the Darjeeling, Singalila , Sikkim region.
The trek was amazing, and we had very good views in the morning of the whole Himalaya range including Everest and Lotse in the distance and the relatively nearby Khangchendzonga. On our way we had a chance to meet the local population, see how they live, and learn to make momas...

We found this Company lived up to what they had offered us and would recommend them to anyone wanting to travel to Dargeeling and the surrounding areas.They made it a very enjoyable stay for us.Thank you.

We have just returned from a fantastic trek organized by Ashmita Trek and Tours to Goecha-La Viewpoint 1. We walked for nine days (eight nights sleeping in tents) and were a group of 8 friends. The full trip included the flight from Delhi to Bagdogra, transport by road to Yuksom at the beginning of the trek, and a short two-night stay in Darjeeling at the end. Our stay in Yuksom, one night each at the start and end of the trek, was at the lovely Ejam Residency (highly recommended!).
This was a trip of a life-time! Ashmita is led by Subash, who was excellent in getting things organized before, during, and after the trek. He spent a lot of time with us and took great care of the logistics of the trip. We traveled with a staff of ten people (cook + helpers, horse-men, etc.) and eleven horses, led by our superb guide Sangay (Kunzang Sangay Bhutia). He's a gem! He looked after us all, paying specific attention to who needed what. He is also very knowledgeable about the area and a good communicator. The trek itself was quite demanding for us all, but the views, the scenery, and the unspoiled environment in which we walked and lived was breathtaking. Two highlights were the climbs to Dzongri top to catch the sun's first rays on the mountains, and finally the even earlier hike in darkness to viewpoint 1 to see the same much closer. The trek took us through a lot of varied terrain. It started in sub-tropical lush forest, then into spectacular rhododendron groves, and finally in shrub country with many views of the high mountains. Mount Pandim, was especially close to our right all during the walk from Thansing to Lamuney and up to view point 1. The staff took great care of us; the food was plentiful and excellent.

This was a trek of a life- time -- to Goecha-la Viewpoint 1 in Sikkim this May!

We worked from the US with Subash of Ashmita Trek and Tours (Darjeeling) to organize the trek and were very pleased with his response to all our many queries about the logistics of getting to Yuksom, Sikkim where the trek begins.

At Yuksom (after a long and tiring drive from the airport at Bagdogra, also organized by Ashmita Trek and Tours), we stayed at the charming home stay - Ejam Residency where the hosts were as gracious as the surroundings, and the food amazing.

After that, we were on the trail, supported by our troupe of porters, horse-men, horses, cook Tenzhing and most importantly our guide Kunzang Sangay Bhutia. Sangay was both guide/mentor for the trekking route and also our go to person for all other needs. His knowledge (and love) of the trekking route and this area in general, and experience with high altitude mountaineering make him an invaluable guide for this trek.

We were treated to amazing views on the trail - starting from views of deep wooded valleys, flowering rhododendron forests, gushing mountain streams to finally the high Himalayas above the tree line. The silence of the mountains followed us, accessible through the soughing wind in the forest or the sound of rushing water. After three days of walking we were in the shadow of the high Himalayas. We walked along Mount Pandim (as if within arms reach) and saw it in many aspects - almost from every side -- through wide mountain meadows, with wild yaks, dris and baby yaks, and scattered stone structures left there by other travelers. The two viewpoints - Dzongri top and Viewpoint 1 brought us to sunrise on Kanchanjunga - absolutely breath taking (though the climb up to these points was too!). On the way to viewpoint 1 we walked by Samiti lake (at 13, 000feet) - whose beautiful, serene, turquoise blue waters reflected the high Himalayas around it. Sangay planned our routes and times and counseled us if we had any doubts about getting there - also brought us 'wake up tea' at the tent in time - we had to get up at 3:30 am for one and 2:30 am for the other!

Every day we were treated to three fresh hot meals prepared under the chef Tenzhing's
masterful hands. Hardly any meal was repeated and all were delicious. By 8pm or 9pm we were usually ready to crash in our tents that were pitched by the staff at every campsite in good time. The biggest challenge on the trek (besides the some of the hard trails up and down rugged valleys ) was the packing and unpacking of our bags every night and morning. At high altitudes when the temperatures dropped at night the staff also provided us (with very welcome) hot water bottles and extra sleeping bags if we needed them. Overall we were lucky with the weather - we had rain (and hail) only two times, never when we went up to the viewpoints and temperatures at night did not go too much below freezing.

Finally, we returned for a night to Yuksom and had some time to explore the monastary there, followed by two nights in Darjeeling. Subash hosted us at Darjeeling - he showed us the famous tea gardens, the Tibetan settlement, a Buddhist Monastary and arranged a lovely dinner at the very colonial and pleasant Glenary restaurant. The traffic in Darjeeling was terrible though we did get to do some shopping to bring back to loved ones at home (this had eluded us during the trek which was in the protected Kanchenjunga National Park with no villages)!

If you are physically fit and love the mountains, I would strongly recommend this trip to you, with Ashmita trek and tours, Subash and Sangay! Remember to bring a good camera and good hiking boots (all the rest can be managed!)

The organization by Ashmita was immaculate! Our guide Sangay is highly experienced with trekking at high altitude, considerate of every member in the group, and extremely detail oriented. He arranged sufficient acclimation practice for us and everyone successfully made to View Point 1, the highest point—the most senior member in our group is 73! The supporting staff (total of 9 for our group of 8 trekkers) were efficient and dedicated. We were provided with three hot meals everyday with ample food and the main courses at dinner never repeated. Think about doing that with just a stove and at high altitude and all supplies were carried up on the back of porters and animals! Whenever we reached one camping site, there was hot drinks waiting for us. We were also provided additional sleeping pads and sleeping bag to supplement what we brought on our own. Hot water bags were also provided, which were great night savers above 12,000 feet when temperature was close to to below freezing at night. To summarize, all the details of the trekking were considered and taken care of by Ashmita. Among all the other trekking groups we met on the way, ours probably provided the best support.

We were 3 French: myself (49 years old), my husband (55 years old) and my son (24 years old). We are rather sporty, without excesses, outdoor enthusiasts, and we were filled by this trek that corresponded absolutely to our abilities and expectations.

The exchanges with the agency were clear and the reservation was simple. The description of the trek was perfectly in line with what we experienced. We continued the trek through 4 days in Sikkim with temple visits, rafting and day trekking. In record time, Subash organized a continuation of the trip which was extra for better understanding this region!

The accommodations and meetings with local people were very friendly: we felt that everyone was happy with the exchange.

I would particularly like to salute Sanjay who has been an exceptional guide. On the sporting side, he has always been attentive to our rhythms and our reactions with the climb to altitude, and full of good advice for us to enjoy this new experience. On the cultural level, his knowledge of fauna, flora, and Buddhist culture has brought us a lot. We exchanged a lot about the differences between our respective countries on all these subjects: it was very appreciable that the exchanges are made in both directions. The English level of Sanjai (Much better than mine!) has allowed very rich exchanges. Last but not least, the human qualities of Sanjai are exceptional: he had a personal relationship with each of us 3. And then, he is the king of surprise that's hot to the heart (and / or elsewhere!) at the right moment. I will not devolish theses surprises because I do not wish to spoiler, to give you all the pleasure ...

A last thank you to Santosh, the driver: we have always felt safe, both on the busy roads of Sikkim and in the anarchic traffic in West Bengal, which is remarkable!

In short, I warmly recommend Ashmita to all those who wish to discover this beautiful region.

As for us, we will return as soon as possible!

I met Subash the manager of Ashmita Trek & Tours and i had a very good feeling with me. Very sympathize people who knows very good the area and tells you the best advices for your trek. He even provided me equipments i needed included in the global price.
I trekked with Binod, a safety guide who provided me the best (sleeping, meals, tea ans cookies!). We did the Singalila trek who offers a wonderful sightseeing on the Kanchenjunga and on the Everest!!

I booked the 2 day trek to Tonglu and Tumling via the Ashmita website. I was traveling on my own and looking to make last-minute plans that involved trekking, landscape photography, and seeing the outdoors. During the online booking process, which was very easy and straightforward, the Ashmita staff were highly professional and very attentive/responsive to my email queries.

My guide was Sangay, who was perhaps the most thoughtful, kind, generous, and professional guide I have ever met. He is also a wonderful person with a rich knowledge of Darjeeling and the mountains, awesome hiking/mountain stories, and a warm sense of humor. He has significant experience as a guide and mountaineer and has excellent English language and people skills. We became friends instantly! I intend to keep in touch with him into the future!

I recommend Ashmita MOST HIGHLY to anyone looking to book a guided trek in the Darjeeling region.

I myself intend to return for a second visit, and I plan to book my next trek through Ashmita.

Just finished up an amazing 12 day trekking experience through Ashmita Trek and Tours with guide Sangay Bhutia to Goethe la Pass. A crew of 7 along with 8 dzo made it all possible. Sangay did a wonderful job of preparing our group of 4 for the high elevation trek and ensured we were safe the entire time. Our cook (more like a chef) and his 3 helpers kept us well fed and the yak men safely transported our gear from camp to camp. Their efforts made it all possible. The trek was physically demanding, but the breathtaking beauty was worth it all!

Amazing trip with Ashmita Trek and Tours, fully supported emotionally and physically to trek up to 17,400 ft without altitude sickness! Difficult conditions, but well worth the effort. Best guide ever - Sangay - took good care of us all the way!

Ashmita Trek and Tours the Owner Mr. Subash did a great job from the first email contact to the end of our trip. They answered all of our questions and helped us create a custom itinerary that was exactly what we wanted.

On the trek our guide and porters were phenomenal. Our guide ( Binod Tamang) knew a lot about the area and was able to give us great tips on everything from what side of the plane to sit on to what was best to eat at each stop. I ended up getting mild altitude sickness one morning and Binod did a great job of assessing the symptoms, talking to the tea house owner, and helping to get me feeling good again within a few hours.

We would highly recommend Ashmita Trek & Tours and will definitely be using them again when I return to India to do Singalila ridge trek. and Thank you very much for making the trip such a memorable experience !

Journey succeeded and experience is nice. It feels like it was worth the effort to see how it is in Sikkim mountains. It was not worth for the views. Money actually also could be smaller by organising it locally. But we weren't aware of that and overpayed the company, as they provided a website with a description and organized everything for us.
Despite organisational issues most of the things went reasonably ok. Guys didn't expect us walkig much faster than pretty much everybody else. We saw only one exception.
Pick-up was late an hour. And who knows how bad would it be if I don't call a guy before the flight.

We rode an ordinary car instead of an off-road one, what seemed to be a mistake. Especially that something was wrong with a wheel and resulted in a quite long stop waiting for another ride.
We lost time (twice) making pictures and copies of documents needed for a Sikkim visa. All of which could be prepared before the trip.
We feel that we weren't well informed about trekking conditions and we got surpriced quite a bit how spartan they are.
We where informed about customary tipping people that are supposed to be payed by the company from our money. It's like a bad joke.

And for the money they pay the guide they should not blaim him for any inconviniences. He was actually great, as well as the rest of the crew that managed to follow us.
This review's value is supposed to reflect mostly the company. Not the people they hired. Nor the location. Those aspects were at least fine with us.

All in all experience could be better if people resposible did a better job.
However, Sikkkim is probably the most friendly, calm and natural place in India.
