I have been with Amber for several years. I started when i installed solar panels and later installed a battery. The first year was great i made a profit of a few hundred dollars. My bills for the past 3 months have totalled $516.28, despite a pensioner concession.
They now want me to pay 2.7% more to use more green energy. Despite my huge investment in panels and battery (full cost, pre subsidy) I am looking for a new provider. Also their customer service is almost nonexistent. There is zero personal service. Sometimes an email enquiry takes a month to get a response. Their chatbots just refer you to FAQ pages!
Their charges are not transparent, and I suspect not the direct wholesale prices they claim.
Plus they charge an ever increasing "membership fee" of $25 per Month, which they claim is their only profit

Upgraded my battery and got the impression Smartshift was not working properly. After a couple of sessions with Amber support staff, with a helpful graph, I got a better understanding of things and all was sorted.

I hope there is -5 star to rate these thieves, they are advertising themselves as people who will save you money, in fact I paid even more than I used to be with them, WARNING to all who are trying to save money, save your money and stay away from these lairs.
I lasted 3 months with them, I have a 6.6kwh solar system plus 42khw battery....

Great Business Model, Transparent and Lower Pricing, Brilliant Communication, Outstanding Support.
I don’t usually give such glowing reviews, but so far I am a massive Amber fan and am telling anyone who will listen.

I've been with Amber since October 2025, a relatively newcomer. So far Amber has been OK. I admire their transparency. They are an honest no-frills, real solution energy provider, and I'm looking forward to reaping more energy savings, that I would have never received with all my previous energy retailers.

I have Solar, batteries and an EV. Amber has been a very expensive disaster. They charged 3x what I’m now paying on my AGL plan. Aside from cost, their app and their admin & support are amateur level. They are not a serious commercial enterprise.

We are very happy with Amber and their business model. We have been able to use their notifications of when "THE GRID IS GREEN" and buy and use cheap power. It has worked so well for us that we have got our usage cost down to a fraction of what we were paying before

I previously applied to join Amber but cancelled the application in May, and Amber confirmed in writing that my sign-up request had been cancelled. I remained a GloBird customer and never switched my electricity account to Amber.

Despite this, I later (July) received a “Great to have you on board with Amber” email, and my Sigenergy battery was unexpectedly changed to “VPP Scheduling – Amber.” This locked me out of my own battery settings and prevented me from using my saved schedules.

I did not knowingly consent to my battery being enrolled in Amber SmartShift/VPP after cancelling my application. I have contacted Amber urgently and asked them to explain how this happened, provide the enrolment records and consent relied upon, and remove the VPP access immediately.

This has been very concerning and disruptive. I will update this review once Amber has investigated and resolved the issue.

Amber are a great company to work with. So fast to respond to questions and so eager to assist.

Best discision I did was to go with Amber. Very punctual if you ever have an enquiry and wholesale prices. With cost of living and electricity so expensive do yourself a favour and check out Amber

Have had so much trouble with Smart Shift. Powering house from Grid when have heaps in battery. My biggest issue is that they refuse to talk to you. I have rung on many occasions and go around in circles that state too busy and need to send email.
That is PATHATIC customer service. I am 75YO and not having access to computer or Internet at times.I am ready to move on after less than a year putting up with poor customer service.My Solar Provider has urged i do as not as affordable any more.

My interaction with Soham was great. He listened to the issues and was followed with the technical team to understand why Smartshift was doing what it was doing. He kept me informed at every step. The interaction before I got to Soham was not great but I have raised those issues and he has assured me they will be sent up the chain.

Amber works well enough. Overall power costs with a battery and solar are negative over the year. Love the power spikes and dumping battery power into the grid. Their support used to be not so great a year ago but they have now resolved that issue and a recent support request was fixed quickly, efficiently and collaboratively.

There customer service is easily best on the market, that alone makes it worth the switch to amber. If you email them they will respond back in a rather timely manner and will notify you if they are going to take longer than normal to respond.

Amber’s automation does not function as they say. When I raised this with their support, they refused to acknowledge that there was any issue. SmartShift does not feed into the grid when battery is below 25%, they say. Oh but it does, and regularly enough for me to show several days of data. They gave no acknowledgment that this was possible, let alone suggest a solution. Possibly the worst customer support I have experienced.

Had a question on my bill emailed Amber .Otto was quick to reply and was very knowledgeable and went over and above to make sure I was happy would recommend Amber to anyone
