Nothing like a big Cruise Ship... and, depending on the weather, is not reliable... in fact, we had so much rain, the river ran high, and we were stuck in Strasbourg France. Not too bad, meals were good, and bus service to our tours continued. We then were bussed to Basel on the appointed day.

The staff and crew were all excellent. The room was very nice.
We were disappointed in the dinners for an award winning chef.
The outside areas were not made inviting.
The common area was not that comfortable.
Not enough included excursions.

We had the best experience with AMAWaterways that you could wish for.
Our cruise director was the best in the business. Even with river flooding we were able to see all the locations that were advertised. There had to be a number of work arounds but with the hard work of the cruise director and captain along with the home office all the problems posed by the rain and flooded river was worked out.

Every aspect of the trip surpassed our expectations: the itinerary, the excursions, the boat facilities, the excellent service, the food...

We were especially impressed by how the Cruise Director, Dejan, and the Amaprima Captain creatively solved the many problems presented by high river waters while maintaining itinerary and schedule.

If we can make a suggestion for change in itinerary, it would be to skip one or two of the stops in small towns along the Main and spend an extra day in Vienna.

We traveled in May on the AmaDante - Europes Rivers & Castles cruise from Paris to Prague.

The staff, food, guides, excursions for the entire trip could not have been better.

Ama staff met us at the airport in Paris and from there until to went through the security check point at the airport in Prague to leave - someone from Ama was with us at every point at the airports just in case a problem came up. Nothing did, but it was great to have someone who spoke the local language just in case.

Per and post cruise (Paris and Prague) were great. At times we were on our own and at times we were on planned excursions. But whatever we were doing Ama staff were there to help.

On the AmaDante

Staff - super friendly, always smiling, couldn't do enough for you, yet they were not hovering over us - but seem to magically appear when you needed something.

Food - I can't say enough about the food. The wait staff learned very quickly what you liked and didn't like and by the second day were bringing you what wanted before you even asked – amazing! I was also quite surprised at all the vegan and gluten free options there were at every meal. If you are vegan or gluten free you won't feel like you are missing out on great food. They looked so good I had some myself.

Excursions – It was impossible to go on all of them. On one day I counted 7 different off boat excursions going every which way. But there were also people who just enjoyed staying on the boat for the cruise to the next stop while the excursions were off to castle, wine tasting or visiting a small village. I believe we could turn right around and take the same cruise again and have a very different experience just doing all the things we didn't have time for on our cruise.

Entertainment – Something different every evening. I especially liked the historian that came on board for a lecture and the glass blowing demonstration was fascinating! Not to mention the musical entertainers who came aboard.

And I especially loved that it was almost all inclusive. There were a couple of excursions that had a small extra charge, and there was a charge for drinks from the bar, but for the most part all the food, beer, wine, coffee, soda, etc. you could drink were included. And when we left the ship I was shocked at how little extra we had spent on the trip. On other cruises it was the other way around in that I had been shocked at how much extra we HAD spent (and were billed for). Other cruise lines seem to nickel and dime you at every turn and it adds up very quickly – but not on an AMA cruise.

Well – what else can I say other than we are already planning our next AmaWaterways cruise. Will it be the south of France? A cruise down the Danube? Perhaps Spain or the Douro? Whatever we pick I know we’ll have a great time.

Wonderful cruise, excellent service, so much fun.

In a crowded open seating environment Katrina blocked us from seating on a table she was reserving for some other guests, consequently she ruined our dinner and possibly the trip. Overall me and my wife were very please with everything else during the trip.

Is very difficult to find anything to complain about
Food excellent, excursions interesting and well thought out, local guides on this one very good, excellent housekeeping sll over the ship, personalized attention, nicely efficient cabins (excellent use made of all space within cabin), latte machine on board forward and aft made my day 😀, bikes a huge plus on board,

Our needs were special - both of us use walkers or wheelchairs. Ama accommodated us well and lots of special attention. The tulip garden in Amsterdam was beautiful and we did that with one of us pushing the other in a wheelchair. Ama arranged taxis in places where walking was planned.

The Amacerto was a lovely ship; the service was beyond compare and our cabin with a patio was exquisite.

I have traveled all over the world on cruise lines but I had never heard of a river cruise. I loved it. It was with out a doubt the best cruise I have ever been on. The smaller ship allowed so many more people to meet each other and I have maintained several friendships from people I met on the ship. I left the cruise with such a feeling of exhilaration I hadn't ever had on any other trip. Everyone should experience this wonderful adventure.

Great trip from Basel to Amsterdam on the AMA Certo. Great scenery, great food, and great service.

This was our second trip with AMA Waterways. Our first trip was the Danube Christmas cruise and it was excellent, from the food to the staff to the tours provided at each stop. Because of the excellent experience we decided to do a second cruise with AMA and chose the Rhine cruise. It was nearly as flawless as the Danube cruise.

We loved the trip. The staff, the room, and the food were all excellent. Gabriella, who served most of our meals, was a delight. She was always cheerful and attentive to our needs. Awan, also a server in the dining room, was excellent and kept us laughing with his great sense of humor. Diana , who was the housekeeper for our room, did a marvelous job. Christian at Reception was very helpful. We wish that the pre-tour talks had given a bit more detail about the places we were going to tour the next day. A couple of the guides were somewhat rude at times, but most were informative and friendly. Hans, our Dutch guide, was especially good. The wine tour in Rudesheim with a 5th-generation member of a wine-producing family, also named Hans, was our favorite tour. The tour of Strasbourg was less satisfactory - we spent most of the day driving through the streets in a bus and only a few minutes actually walking in the town. All in all, we were quite satisfied and hope to do another trip with AMA sometime.

The food & service were perfect.
I would only make some changes on the itinerary we were on.

AmaWaterways exceeded our expectations in every possible way! Their attention to detail is unsurpassed. Jelena, our Cruise Mgr, was there for us at all hours and very knowledgeable. Christian, our Hotel Mgr, was there to do anything that needed to be done...and with a smile. Every staff member was personable and absolutely ready to serve your every need, including hand polishing the stair steps. The dining room staff members were so entertaining that you looked forward to every meal. And speaking of meals, the food was absolutely delicious. Loved the 24 hour coffee bar! The tour organization was outstanding, thanks to Jelena. It was definitely a bucket list trip. Don't hesitate booking with AmaWaterways.

15 days from Amsterdam to Budapest. Sailed on the AMASerana, a new ship in AMA's fleet. Launched in 2015 the ship is in pristine shape and well maintained. The suite we had with a king size bed was spacious and very comfortable. The room included large sliding doors by the bed opening up to the river and a separate large balcony. Both provided excellent opportunities for comfortably viewing the river during the cruise. Dining opportunities consisted of breakfast (buffet style), lunch and dinner (both served). The food was attractive/appealing in its presentation and uniformly excellent. The portion size was perfect. The wait staff were attentive without hovering. The overall service was excellent. During the days there were a diverse selection of tour/excursion opportunities: always walking and biking tours, and sometimes local tasting or music events. Each walking tour was organized into three self selected groups (active, regular and gentle walkers) to accommodate a range of physical abilities. Every afternoon there was a pianist in the lounge and several times performers were brought on board for entertainment after dinner. The ship's crew and staff were phenomenal. Always friendly and helpful. Great customer service. Overall a wonderful experience.

I really enjoyed my cruise. It was amazing, relaxing and educational.

It was our first river cruise but not our last !
We had a great time ! From the time we walked through security in the Zurich Airport until we returned to airport in Netherlands to board our plane home they had your back ! Very impressed and would definitely go AMA again.
