I’d been wearing glasses/contact lenses from about the age of 11 and had an astigmatism and a slight lazy eye. I decided i wanted Laser Eye surgery as I didn’t want to depend on visual aids. I’d been recommended Moorfields Private eye surgery as it’s a very reputable and respectable eye hospital. The whole process for the surgery was so easy and well explained (I wasn’t sure if I was eligible for the surgery as previous opticians had mentioned my astigmatism was too strong). I’d made a call to the surgery who directed me to Mr Alex day’s practice just off Bond Street. First, there was a consultation where there was a thorough examination to check whether you were eligible for laser eye surgery and what type of surgery would be recommended. Turns out I was eligible for Lasek as my cornea is on the thinner side. Dr Alex and his team then explained what the surgery would entail and any risks, side effects and recovery time. You’re given an information pack with all the details of the surgery to take home with you so you can thoroughly read everything. I was then booked in for a consent appointment 2 weeks later to confirm I still want to go through with the process. My surgery was 3 weeks after the first appointment at the main Moorfield Hospital site off of Old Street. You’re also given all the eye drops and medication after with a detailed document as to when to take which medication/ drops. (It was advised to have someone assist you from the hospital and help you with the medication so I was lucky to have my mum with me and be my nurse for the week). The surgery itself was quick and Dr Alex and his team put my nerves at ease and reassured me throughout. He has a very calming energy! I then had a follow up appointment a week after this to check my eyes were healing properly (which they were). 3 months on now and my vision is great and just had my 3 month check up. I no longer need glasses/ contacts and have barely needed to use any more eyedrops after the first month. I’m booked in for a 9 month check up for next summer now. All in all, it was such a quick process from that first phone call enquiry to the actual surgery. I’ve also felt reassured throughout the whole process and Dr Alex and his team are always on hand to give support and advice when needed. Would 100% recommend.

Alex was brilliant, he took the time to explain what the different surgeries were and what would be best for my eyes and why. This was very helpful. He clearly spent a lot of time thinking about the best option based on the data. He also shared his own journey of having laser eye surgery. I felt confident going into the surgery and he was very encouraging during the surgery, which was so quick! The outcome is amazing - my eyesight is better than 20:20. I no longer feel held back from doing certain things by my eyesight. I dont have that worry of wearing contact lenses or the ache of wearing glasses. I would definitely recommend anyone to go to Alex for their surgery.

The whole experience was very professional. I felt that I was in very safe, hands all the way through. I was very pleased with the speed and the time it was taken between the consultation and the operation, and also the decisions that were made regarding the safety of my eyesight. I also was very happy with the after-care and follow-up consultations.
I’m now surprised every day when I realise I no longer have to wear any kind of glasses or frames.

I can’t recommend Mr Alex Day enough. Throughout the whole process I felt supported, listened to and able to ask any questions - no matter how small! The communication from his assistant Aurelia was outstanding and all Moorfields Private staff I encountered were lovely and extremely helpful. My eyes are now better than 20/20 and I could not be more pleased with the outcome - should have done this years ago! Alex Day performed a refractive lens exchange on both eyes to correct my vision (long and near distance). It was like he performed magic. One day I needed glasses to see both distance and near and then after the operation I could see without glasses. I can read emails, texts on my mobile, menus & read the newspaper.
Alex and his team are all professionals but more so they are warm, calm and caring therefore making this whole experience achievable.
What is also so very important is the aftercare.
After my first op on my right eye on Saturday 20th May, Alex texted on Sunday to see if I was ok and and if had worries or concerns to get in touch. Aurelia called Monday morning to see how I was feeling. This aftercare also followed through after my 2nd op on Saturday 27th May.
The 6 week checkup was thorough and again with a warm and caring touch.
I would not hesitate to recommend Alex Day!

I had an appointment with Mr Alex Day today. I was originally treated for an eye infection in California and went to see Mr Day as a follow up and to get a second opinion. He and his staff were extremely knowledgeable and kind. I highly recommend him and would definitely see him again should the need arise.

Alex Day was brilliant, my lens replacement was a huge decision for me as I’m petrified of anyone touching my eyes. The staff at Moorfields private were brilliant….especially Christine the nurse. Alex Day was brilliant and my surgery went so well. Within an hour of leaving the hospital my sight was great. Wish I’d done it years ago. I now have 20/20 vision and couldn’t be happier. Anyone considering this procedure please take the plunge. It really is life changing. .

Mr Day has built a very competent, efficient and friendly team and the whole experience before and on the day was very smooth and painless. The results just one month later are better than expected and my sight has been significantly improved.

Mr Day was a great consultant to have. He was kind and polite and answered any questions I had clearly and in a way I could understand. His team were friendly too, especially Aurelia. Everything went smoothly from the initial appointment to the day of surgery to the follow up appointments. I have the desired result from my surgery and 3 months on, healing is progressing perfectly and a life without glasses is incredible! Would highly recommend Mr Day to anyone.

My only comment would be to make patients more aware of the post surgical care and drop routines that are required prior to the surgery day. There is a lot which needs to be done and you have to have someone else to do it for the best recovery.
