This company is very shady
This company is very shady, disingenuous, and lacks basic competency. They denied my credit application citing "Potential Fraudulent Activity" but couldn't provide any explanation or clarification when questioned. Instead, I was simply told the decision was final and to reapply in 30 days. Their lack of transparency, professionalism, and accountability is completely unacceptable. I would strongly caution others against doing business with them.
First
First, Sportsman sold me on getting a card to save on my $2.5k worth of purchases but they could not figure out how to run it on the card. They cancelled and ran on my Chase card. Approximately 30 days later i get a statement with a $29 balance and a let fee. They continue to add late fees for the account after I went ahead and paid the $29 which should not have been on the card at all. I also attempted to do the right thing and go above and beyond and paid another $26. They barely speak English and are very rude in trying to explain to me why I should keep giving them money for late fees that are not my fault. Run from this company as fast as you can. They are con artist with foreign customer service people.
Comenity Bank Accepts Blatant, "Copy-and-Paste" Forged Signatures
I filed a formal fraud dispute with Comenity Bank a.k.a. Bread Financial, and their "investigation" process is a total joke. They are actively trying to collect on a debt based on completely forged signatures, and they didn't even perform a basic visual check. You can see my signature comparison clearly spells out my actual name, whereas the forged delivery contract is signed 'Ryan' which is not my name...
While delivering furniture to my home, Raymour & Flannigan delivery personnel severely gouged and damaged my floors. To cover their tracks and escape liability, they finalized the delivery contracts using forged signatures that waive them of property damages.
Here is how incredibly lazy Comenity Bank’s fraud compliance is: The signature on both contracts is a blatant "copy-and-paste" duplicate. If you zoom in, the signatures are a pixel-by-pixel match—the exact same digital ink, angle, and stroke pattern. They are entirely identical, which is physically impossible for a human to write naturally twice in a row.
Despite an active federal investigation via the CFPB, Comenity immediately reported a massive balance increase to my credit files at Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. They weaponized my credit score to force me to pay for a fraudulent transaction while they take a 60-day "extension" to look into the matter.
Do not trust this bank. They do not review fraud documentation, they accept obvious digital copy-and-paste forgeries, and they punish victims instead of investigating criminals.
Terrible!!
Terrible!!! Was with them for years with a credit card from a clothing online store. Never sent me a late payment notice until they said I was 30days late!!!! Reported to the credit and my excellent credit rating dropped 82 points!!!! I was never late! When I check the account it said no payment due! Then they had the nerve to cancel my account without ever notifying me!! I would have never known if I didn’t go to cancel it!!
This is who handles Kay Jewlers…
This is who handles Kay Jewlers accounts.
These people are the biggest rip off artists there are! It doesnt matter if you make your monthly payment on time, because the interest rate is so high you will never pay it off. My monthly payment was $84, the monthly interest was $62, so I was literally only paying $22 towards the balance (which was all interest because I paid the rings off a long time ago) and when I called to make a settlement payment they would only settle for 80% of the balance owed, which again was just interest.
I also reported them for constantly calling and saying I was 2 months behind when I wasnt. They called me 7 times in one day, Saturdays, Sundays, just constant, and you can never understand them because none of them can speak ENGLISH worth a shit.
I will NEVER buy anything from these crooks ever again.
This is the absolute worst financial…
This is the absolute worst financial institution I have ever done buisness with. I have been blocked, I can not use my card.
I don't know what to do
Class action lawsuit.....
Those are crooks. “Pre-approved” offer led to hard inquiry and denial based on mysterious internal score
Those are crooks. Please avoid applying for credit card with them.
The part I find particularly irritating is the “pre-approved” solicitation.
I received a mailed Bread Rewards American Express offer stating that I was pre-approved, including a $200 welcome bonus. I applied through the official Bread/Comenity website.
The result was a hard inquiry on my Experian credit report, followed by absolutely no email, text, or online notification about the application status. More than a week later, I finally received a paper denial letter in the mail.
What makes this especially frustrating is that my Experian credit score was around 800, yet Bread denied the application using a completely different “custom credit score” of 534 on their own 1–999 scale. The letter listed factors such as recent inquiries, number of credit cards, and revolving balances, despite my otherwise excellent credit history.
I understand that “pre-approved” does not legally guarantee approval, but sending a targeted pre-approved solicitation, performing a hard credit pull, providing no timely electronic communication, and then rejecting the application using an opaque proprietary scoring model is a very poor customer experience.
The inquiry also affected my credit score, so I effectively received nothing from this offer except a hard pull and a denial letter.
Based on this experience, I would not apply for another Bread/Comenity product and would not recommend responding to their “pre-approved” mail offers.
Lacking customer support.
Lacking customer support.
Instead of allowing the account holder to give authority to a family member to help them, they insist on a POA being MAILED to them. I appreciate protecting accounts, but in today's world, that is ridiculous. The only information being requested was the original charge being made. I'm sure they would not hesitate to charge a late fee even if you can't get information!
Don’t get involved with this bank
I was ready to share my negative feelings but then I saw everyone else taking the words from my mouth
HORRIBLE
HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE HORRIBLE bank !!!!! they are out to get you and will take every chance they can to steal your money!!!!! I would be very careful with purchasing anything from Jared because they use this bank and I didn’t even know. Slapped a $3000 charge on me when I was almost paid off. The interest charge was more than half of what the total bill even was. Don’t ever use this bank or anyone associated with this bank.
DO NOT GET A CREDIT CARD FROM THIS…
DO NOT GET A CREDIT CARD FROM THIS COMPANY!!!
You will most likely regret it if you do. I've been cussed out by their India rep in his native language, not English; and then hung up on by his supervisor. I wasn't rude at all, but merely giving a long and detailed explanation of what happened.
Save yourself the headache. Go elsewhere.
Zero stars !!!
Horrible experience. Rip off bank. Terrible customer service. Oh God, am I glad I closed my account !!!
Worst Bank I have ever dealt with
Here is another bad review for this bank. If I could give 0 stars I would!! This bank is absolutely terrible! They decreased my Sephora credit limit because my points dropped a little and when I called to ask questions about it I was hung up on 5 TIMES! Finally got to a nice gentleman who helped me, so 5 stars to just him! I also found out today that they closed my GameStop credit card. I make a very decent amount of money, have never missed a payment, and have kept that card paid off shortly after use and they close my account??? Yeah because that’s not going to damage my credit. Terrible customer service and terrible policies. If capital one and all my other cards can remain open, why not the ones with this bank?? Do not, and I repeat, DO NOT waste your time with any account this bank offers. More on! There are better credit card companies out there if you need to build your credit!
Formal Complaint Regarding Torrid…
Formal Complaint Regarding Torrid Credit Card Customer Service & Disability Discrimination
To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Chelsea Carter, and I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the treatment I have repeatedly experienced from the customer service department associated with the Torrid credit card.
I have experienced ongoing problems with the credit card account and extremely poor customer service. Each time there appears to be a system update or change, my AutoPay information is removed or my online account access is disrupted, forcing me to go through the process of setting everything up again. This has happened more than once and has created unnecessary frustration and difficulty.
However, my experience today was unacceptable.
I spoke with three different customer service representatives, and the way I was treated was some of the worst customer service I have experienced in approximately 40 years. I felt that the representatives repeatedly talked down to me, talked over me, belittled me, and did not allow me a fair opportunity to explain the problems with my account.
I have a disability, and during these conversations I made it clear that the manner in which I was being spoken to and treated was offensive and was creating additional difficulty for me. Rather than showing patience, professionalism, or attempting to accommodate the situation, I felt that the representatives became even more disrespectful after I raised my concerns.
I left these conversations feeling humiliated, belittled, and discriminated against because of my disability. No customer should be made to feel this way when contacting a company for assistance, particularly after communicating that they have a disability and are having difficulty with the interaction.
Torrid chooses the financial institution and/or servicing company that administers its branded credit card, and that company's representatives ultimately affect the Torrid customer experience. For that reason, I am asking both Torrid and its credit card provider to take this complaint seriously.
I am requesting that this matter be formally investigated, including a review of the recorded customer service calls from today, August 15, 2026, involving the three representatives with whom I spoke. Those recordings should provide an objective record of how the conversations were handled and how I was treated.
I am also requesting:
- A written response regarding the results of your investigation.
- An explanation as to why system updates have repeatedly affected my AutoPay and/or online account access.
- Confirmation of what steps will be taken to prevent these account problems from continuing.
- A review of whether appropriate disability-awareness and customer-service procedures were followed during my calls.
- Assurance that customers who disclose a disability are treated with dignity, patience, and respect.
After this experience, I no longer feel comfortable doing business with Torrid or using its credit card. I have never felt this poorly treated by a company while simply attempting to obtain customer service.
This complaint is not merely about an account or AutoPay problem. It is about how a customer with a disability was treated after specifically communicating that the interaction was offensive and difficult because of that disability.
I expect this complaint to be documented, investigated, and addressed by the appropriate management or executive customer-relations departments for both Torrid and its credit card provider.
Please provide me with a written response regarding this matter and the actions taken following your investigation.
Sincerely,
Chelsea Carter
The fees are beyond rip off
The fees are beyond rip off, interest rates as high as legally (questionable) possible. Huge fees when “promotional” offers expire. Lender void of conscience
Pay my Toyota credit card
I want to pay my Toyota credit card account. System will not allow me to do so - either logging in or thru the “easy” method. This is not the first time this has happened. Their systems are very outdated and do not respond to customer needs. IT dept needs to be reorganized.
Paid off and closed my VS card today
Paid off and closed my VS card today. These people are insane. You try to call them and you can’t get anyone on the line but when your payment is due they harass!! I mean harass, calls 5 minutes apart constantly.
Comenity is gleefully evil
Paid off my Children's Place credit card, yet Comenity insists I have an outstanding balance. After calls and appeals with receipts and documents, they illegally charge me wrongly. Comenity is simply evil.
Covenity Bank Fraud
I paid off a balance and closed a credit card account. I open a new credit card with them and they moved the balance from the old credit card account to the new credit card account. They were extremely rude and disrespectful to me.
I contacted the bank regulators and file a complaint with them.
