Very impressed from start to finish.

Pathetic would be a compliment.

The overwhelming negative reviews for this company are completely justified, the people working at these solicitors must be the most incompetent and brain dead group of people I have ever dealt with in my lifetime. The levels of stupidity are staggering.

They use a client portal which is cumbersome at best. Their telephone reception useless, on multiple occasions I was “being transferred to the relevant person in the legal department” only to get redirected back via the automated answering system.

They ask for documents to prove a payment has been made. The proof is provided. They ask again. I point to the statement provided, sighting the date of the transaction. They confirm they have the information they need. A couple of weeks go by and they ask for exactly the same proof again. I point to the statement provided. Again. And the fact that they have already acknowledged the proof. They confirm they have the information they need. A few more weeks go by and they ask for the same proof of payment a 3rd time. I now point to the document provided and the two previous occasions where they have confirmed they have the information they need.. and so it goes on all the while the clock is ticking.

Communication via email / text was great, providing details was easy (ok extra cost), via app but everything went really smoothly.

Dialogue with this company is painful. Each time I interact with them a different person responds and contradicts the previous response. I am at risk of losing my house sale as Optmi have failed to submit an application to the land registry to update my details following a recent remortgage. Avoid at all costs.

They have been handling my remortgage for months, yet with less than three weeks remaining before my current fixed-rate mortgage ends, I have only now been informed that an additional Help to Buy process and Deed of Postponement are required — a process they themselves say can take 6–8 weeks or potentially longer.

What makes this particularly frustrating is that the Help to Buy charge was not new information. It was visible on the property title from the beginning of the remortgage process. Despite this, the issue was not properly clarified and progressed until the last minute.

I was initially being asked for a RICS valuation and Help to Buy redemption information because their system had the case recorded as though I intended to repay the equity loan, when I actually intended to keep it in place. I now have to urgently contact Homes England myself, submit additional paperwork and pay additional fees while facing the possibility of my existing mortgage moving onto a much higher follow-on interest rate if the remortgage cannot complete in time.

Communication throughout the process has also been frustrating, with conflicting information about what was outstanding and documents being requested that had already been completed or received.

I understand that Homes England and the lender have their own processing times, which are outside Optima's control. My complaint is that a time-sensitive requirement that could potentially delay the remortgage by many weeks was not properly identified and dealt with much earlier in a case they had been handling for months.

At this stage I am having to actively manage and chase the process myself to try to prevent a potentially significant financial impact.

Based on my experience so far, I cannot recommend Optima Legal.
