Not to the quality promised
a) the system is far too complicated for my mother to use. This means she cannot use the stairlifts without help, which defeats the whole object of having them fitted. Indeed, even I find them over-complicated when trying to explain to my mother how to use them.
b) the system is not robust. It is unacceptable for the installers to have left one of the stairlifts faulty. I realise that the installers arrived to find the fault, but this has just added to my mother’s anxiety and sense of insecurity about using them.
c) the rails on which the seats travel restrict the stairs considerably so that others with full mobility, such as me and my mother’s grand and great grand children, find them difficult to negotiate
d) the installers failed to fill the holes left when they removed the existing handrails, despite a specific assurance from the person who measured and provided a quotation. In addition, there are dirty marks on the wall.
My mother is distraught at the effect the stairlifts have on her home and her well-being. She cried on Monday during the installation because she felt her home was being degraded by the stairlifts and because she could not understand how to work them. In addition, my mother’s carer said the installers were quite rude. I am not sure if this verifiable but in any event, that was her perception and that is unacceptable.
