Poor and disappointing experience
My GP referred me to Oviva last October as I had been diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I opted to join the online programme. The blurb said I would have a personal coach and that I would have regular telephone appointments throughout the 9 month programme. Dream on! I started to have doubts about this company after the first few weeks when I used the chat function within the app to ask various nutritional based questions. I only received a response on 1 occasion. They told me to continue to log my meals on the app and that I would receive regular feedback. Well, I have received feedback just once and that was after logging all my meals, day in and day out for 4 months! Yes, 4 months of meal logging to get feedback on 1 single occasion. The app generates plenty of childish repetitive comments like "you're smashing it" and "you're an expert" just because you regularly log your food. The app is also basic, there is no allowance made for portion size which seems to defeat the object. Now 6 months after joining this "programme", I have never been offered a telephone appointment nor spoken to anyone at all. If my coach does exist, they have never contacted me. Makes me wonder if all the reviews from peopIe are genuine who state they've received excellent support and had regular telephone appointments. I'm now using My Fitness Pal which is a far superior app to Oviva's and its free. Best of all, I've now received a message from Oviva saying that as I haven't used the app for some time, I will be removed from the programme. That's fine by me because it hasn't felt like I've been on their programme for the last 6 months. The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because some of the reading at the beginning was useful. That said, the same information is freely available in numerous places online if you take the time to find it. I have a GP appointment coming up and I will tell him exactly how poor my experience with this company has been. Presumably they have received money from the NHS for my referral. They should pay it back, they've done practically nothing to earn it.
