Poor confirmation and contact ability

It is 24 hours since I bought my policy and I have still not received a confirmation e-mail regarding my policy purchase. I tried to use the LiveChat service and it did not work as no-one got in touch with me for over 2 hours. I tried to find a telephone number and there was nothing for insurance 4 carhire. I got through to a Swinton number and they could not give me a number to get through and said it is only an online service - that's helpful!

Overall satisfactory but could easily be better

My Order #100007448 (placed on 10 April 2012) was for the Forest Climber.

Please find my comments below:
1/ Assembly Time: a reviewer said it would take 4 hours to assemble - it took me nearer a day and with mistakes made that had to be rectified the following weekend. It was just me and in terms of competence I rate myself as reasonable as I work in the construction industry so good at assembly and following instructions. I review design drawings.I think an indication of the assembly time would be useful to allow for very excited kids who are waiting for it to be safe to use.
2/ Assembly physical difficulty: several pre-drilled holes were not countersunk so the screws were very difficult to get below the surface to avoid snagging injury.
3/ Assembly physical difficulty: the holes for the steel tubes to pass through were too tight - I had to lather the tubes in washing up liquid as a lubricant to assist and still had a give my rubber mallet a good hit. The instructions suggested a normal hammer though I suspect had I used this it might damage the steel tube.
4/ Wrong screws: the screws supplied with the rope net when screwed in would go through an poke out at the other side of the timber they were to be fixed into (too long) - a safety hazard so I've had to unscrew to a loose position.
5/ Instructions: when fitting the steel tubes around/near the tent at the top of the slide it wasn't clear enough about sleeving the bottom trim of the tent through the steel tube at the same time. I missed this so the tent was flapping. Due to the tightness of the tubes in the wood the removal was extremely difficult and also reisertion similarly.
6/ Care/maintenance - the wood looks like it hasn't been treated/tanalised with preservative so I don't know if I have to do this to keep it in good condition or not.

1/ It is difficult to comment on an individual’s ability to build / construct items. The review that said 4hrs was left by another customer.
2/ Again it comes down to the individual’s ability but as a rule we do get good feedback on this product, that it does go together well.
3/ The set is designed to be tight so that it keeps the frame rigid. The instructions state on page 10 step 3 that lubrication can ease assemble. On page 9 under tools needed it shows an impact hammer that has soft ends so that the parts do not get damaged.
4/ I would suggest that the screws were put in too far, that is why they came out the other side.
5/ I would always suggest take your time to read and fully understand what you are going to do in each step before starting.
6/ Tp Timber is always pressure treated / tantalised as stated on our web site, so it is guaranteed against wood rot. If you want to keep the site looking clean and tidy than you could, if wanted give it a clear water sealant or stain but this is not necessary.
