Massive Price Changes and Questionable Handling of Connected Social Media Accounts
The company was formerly known as "Getlate.dev" and initially offered so-called "lifetime deals" on the AppSumo platform. Many users invested a considerable amount of time connecting their social media accounts and actively utilized the platform for several months.
Subsequently, the company underwent a rebranding—changing its name to "Zernio"—and drastically altered both its pricing policy and subscription plans. Existing customers were suddenly required to pay significantly more on a monthly basis—ostensibly for new features that they had never requested. In some instances, prices skyrocketed by roughly tenfold compared to the rates originally advertised. This bears the hallmarks of a classic "vendor lock-in" strategy: lure customers in with affordable lifetime deals and low introductory rates; encourage them to connect their own accounts—as well as those of their clients—and become reliant on the platform; and then abruptly hike the prices.
Of even greater concern to me is how the company handles connected social media accounts. Even after disconnecting accounts via the service's dashboard, deleting user data, revoking API access, and completely purging one's account from the Zernio platform, access to certain social media accounts appears to remain active. This creates a deeply unsettling sense of unease regarding privacy, security, and transparency. In other words, even after deleting your data and leaving the service, their connections to your social accounts persist.
At this juncture, I regret to say that this company does not inspire my trust. Anyone planning to connect their social media accounts to this service should meticulously verify exactly which permissions have been revoked and ensure that access to their accounts is, in fact, fully terminated upon disconnecting from the service.
