It’s not reliable at all. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve wasted money on products that scored excellent on the app but when I got them and scanned the barcode it’s scored low. There’s products (which are the exact same) that score poor, good and excellent all for the same product. It’s very misleading, especially when this app was done so people use less bad chemicals to take better care of their health only to keep getting incorrect scoring when their products arrive. I’ve emailed them multiple times to show them this keeps happening, but clearly they haven’t bothered to find a solution and it’s only getting worse.

Watch out! I downloaded the app and my phone got hacked and transactions I didn't recognise began coming out of my account from a gaming website called playgamesforever.com. Deleted the app but the bank cannot refund me money

I have been using Yuka since many years, first in Europe (I am European) and then in the US. I do not go shopping to any of the large supermarkets without my phone, scanning every product that goes into my cart. Same for my wife, and now my son, daughter and their family. It is sensational, an essential tool to help improve the health of consumers. Ah, and by the way, not only food...cosmetics as well !

Anche se Yuka era nata con l’intento di tutelare i consumatori, la sua affidabilità attuale è messa in discussione. Potrebbe essere influenzata da logiche di marketing, o semplicemente troppo semplificata per una realtà complessa come la qualità alimentare e cosmetica.
Valutazioni incoerenti nel tempo
Prodotti prima giudicati "scarsi" diventano improvvisamente "ottimi", o viceversa, senza cambiamento nella composizione.

Grandi marchi "riabilitati"
Alcuni prodotti industriali con ingredienti contestati (zuccheri, additivi, oli raffinati) risultano “eccellenti” — sollevando il sospetto di pressioni o influenze commerciali.

È un applicazione utile sicuramente ma mi vengono dei dubbi sulla piena affidabilità, perché alcuni prodotti che mi dava in positivo, qualche mese dopo me lo ritrovo mediocre e anche peggio…. Perché? Questo mi fa pensare che le valutazioni si possono comprare? Ci sono capitata più volte…. Trovandomi in difficoltà e dovendo trovare l’alternativa, ma è un giochetto che Yuka deve spiegarci, perché altrimenti non è così affidabile come dice di essere.

Utilizzo questa applicazione perché mi ha spesso aiutato nella scelta degli alimenti, ma non così di rado vengono segnalati con bollino verde alimenti da bollino arancione o rosso.
In ordine cronologico, l’ultima informazione incongruente di Yuka riporta un punteggio eccellente di ben 78/100 per le Piadelle integrali del Mulino Bianco, segnalando per le stesse solo 1,4 g di grassi su 100 di prodotto. Ma non è così: in realtà sono circa 10 g di grassi su 100 di prodotto (come risulta dai valori nutrizionali sull’etichetta)!
Per me, è come fare affidamento su di un semaforo incantato sulla luce verde, quando dovrebbe proiettare luce rossa!
Informazioni fuorvianti alimentano legittimi dubbi e, nel dubbio, ho disinstallato l’App.

Was enjoying the app. Is a great idea. But was sad to see they rate toothpastes with fluoride in highly?!?!?!

I feel Yuka has helped me make healthier choices and supported me to identify where some foods i'm eating aren't as good as i first thought. Its fast and effective and just helps me make a few more healthy choices and saves me time as i work and care for a family member. Its definitely improved my shopping and eating choices.

Very misleading on the risk scale. Some items are good..with ingredients that are natural that may be allergens. While others show a long list of ingredients you can't even pronounce, showing as excellent.
I read a post on the world cancer fund blog page, saying exactly the same..they wouldn't recommend the app..

Typed in a product and the same product has 3 different ratings. How am I meant to trust the information when it is so contradicting.

I really wanted to like Yuka, but after using it for a while, I’m honestly disappointed. Compared to newer apps like Lovi, Yuka feels outdated and extremely limited. One of the biggest drawbacks is that it only works with barcodes. In today’s digital age, that’s just not enough. I do most of my skincare shopping online, and not being able to scan product screenshots is a major inconvenience. Meanwhile, Lovi lets me analyze ingredients directly from online store images — no barcode needed. Why hasn’t Yuka caught up?

Another issue is how simplistic Yuka’s scoring system is. It gives a score, sure, but there’s very little context or nuance. No review summaries, no price comparisons, no personalized feedback — just a number. That’s not helpful when trying to understand what actually works for your skin.

And don’t get me started on the interface — it feels clunky and hasn’t evolved in years. There’s no face scan, no skin tracking, nothing that helps me actually see if a product is working over time. It's like they stopped innovating altogether.

If you're serious about skincare, skip Yuka and try something more modern. There are much better options out there.

Penso che molti non capiscono il significato del voto "eccellente", perchè dicono che poi il sapore non è buono... ahahha ma sta gente può anche votareeee... cosa c'entra il sapore quest'app è per vedere velocemente se ci sono additivi dannosi o cose del genere . Il sapore è soggettivo

Malheureusement cette application est hyper alarmiste et indique médiocre pour certains composants alors qu'il n'en est rien. Je la trouvais amusante au départ mais finalement après utilisation et analyse des scores trop de composants sont jugés médiocres alors qu'il n'en est rien! Avec cette application on peut jeter tout un frigo tous les chocolats même côté d'or et ne parlons pas des cosmétiques ! Elle confond certains perturbateurs endocriniens ! Bref ne pas se fier aveuglément et faire la part des choses en se documentant sur les composants jugés médiocres! Parfois je me demande s'il n'y a pas derrière cela des publicités cachées ?

Utilizzo quotidianamente, non posso più farne a meno, se un prodotto è scarso o mediocre non lo compro, a meno che sia un'eccezione. Il 95% di quello che compro ha un giudizio farorevole dall'app.

Fantastic app that I use daily. Good clear ratings for products and foods that help me with my daily choices. Great 😊 and would recommend.

un app pratique à utiliser comme indicateur de qualité, certes pas parfaite et laissant de côté plein de normes mais en tout cas c'est un outil efficace et très facile à utiliser en premier abord

Application facile à berner : il suffit de ne pas noter les ingrédients controversés et vous obtenez une note de 100/100. Après tout, Yuka n'est pas légal, alors pourquoi se priver ? Un exemple : cherchez les produits cosmétiques avec les scores de 100/100, ils mettent la mention généraliste "parfum" au lieu d'en mettre le détail de la composition... ce qui baisserait leur note. Il y a des milliers de références comme ça qui raccourcissent leur liste sans être inquiétés. Le servie client Yuka le sait mais "ils ne peuvent rien y faire"...

Prima ero molto entusiasta ma più vado avanti e vedo delle cose che non mi convinco più... Del tipo ho fatto una valutazione su l'olio di oliva di tante Marche.. E da tutti eccellente... Basta assaggiare alcuni tipi di olio di oliva... Che no si possono vedere... App stai perdendo la mia fiducia... Che tristezza. C'è sempre chi ci guadagna dietro.. Ormai non mi fido più di nessuno...

Delightful gentleman to deal with and always had the answers in looking for. All around good experience would recommend Yuka and his services to my friends and family.
