We had an awesome trip to Mongolia with 2 different tour companies, Yellowwood being the 2nd tour, so naturally I am comparing the two. On both trips there were just the two of us ladies.

Yellowwood had excellent communications and the professional way they set up a WhatsApp group chat with a beginning and end date is a great idea. We also had a Zoom session with the owner, Sam, prior to booking to answer our questions.
I gave Yellowwood 4 out of 5 as there were a few hiccups which we emailed privately to the company and had a satisfactory response.

As for value for money we felt our first tour which was with a local Mongolian company was way better, Yellowwood being pricey for what was delivered.

One of the best parts of our tour was our 2 staff from Yellowwood’s partner company in Mongolia. The driver who only spoke 3 words of English was very willing to contribute his local knowledge and our guide very happy to translate. They were also both interested to hear about our lives and to accommodate our interests and desire to take lots of photos. This made us feel like human beings, not just tourists and this cross-cultural exchange greatly added to our enjoyment.

The combination of experiences within our trip offered an insight into Uganda and its conservation efforts, but would have benefitted from a rest day between the hikes. Highlights included the Gorillas in Bwindi which was magical and meeting the Batwa people who were displaced to create the national park. The Ugandan hospitality was faultless and our memories will be everlasting.

We had a fantastic experience with YellowWood Adventures and would happily recommend them. Our bespoke itinerary was well planned, everything ran smoothly and all the logistics were taken care of, allowing us to relax and enjoy the trip.

The flexibility of having a private tour made the experience even more special and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into creating an itinerary that suited exactly what we wanted. We came away with amazing memories and really appreciated how easy the whole trip was from start to finish.

From start to finish, YellowWood Adventures provided an amazing way to experience Mongolia! Before, during, and after tour, communication was efficient and personable. As my very first adventure tour, I had endless questions, and YellowWood allowed me to feel supported and ready!
And the tour itself? A DREAM! Incredible views, exciting activities, and authentic relationships with locals just scratch the surface of the beauty of this trip. All of our local guides (including the amazing Dawaa!!) went above and beyond to make this trip special for every traveler in our group! The itinerary included big highlights— horse trekking, temple visits, and an incredible starry sky! But the magic of this adventure came in the spontaneous moments — learning how to sumo wrestle, playing games and dancing with our home stay family, and hiding away from the rain where a local family welcomed us like old friends. Mongolia has stolen a piece of my heart. I can’t wait for more adventures with YellowWood!

I had amazing time, looked after really well, even though I am 74. years old I was never made to feel that I was holding people back or out of place.
When my luggage was in turkey , while I was in Mongolia, it was organised and brought to me, even though the tour was in different place.
I would definitely recommend to anyone who want to go to the amazing Mongolia

It was a great tour. Dario, our guide and driver, was a standout. The eight of us were driven around in a comfortable Renault van to many ancient towns, both in the mountains and seaside, and to natural sites that were stunning. Dario is kind, fun, generous, thoughtful, and a fabulous driver. He would make any tour wonderful. He improved the tour by making a few changes to the itinerary based on his knowledge and experience. One was to take a boat ride to see the Basque Coast UNESCO Global Geopark out of Zumaia instead of a boat ride in the Bay of Santander.
The amount of walking seemed just about right. The itinerary states the length, which is helpful. If you don't feel like doing the walk, you can take a break and stay at a cafe, for example. Or if you want to take the day off and skip the tour for that day, you can stay behind in town. The hotels are varied: some in tiny hamlets and some in small cities.
We appreciated the three local guides who had specific knowledge of the sites and towns they took us through.
There is quite a lot of being driven around, and a lot of it is on winding mountain roads. Some of it is great fun and always scenic, some days it can seem like too much. And ancient sites, such as churches and monasteries, in such a small amount of time, can be overwhelming (and therefore difficult to appreciate fully). I would suggest more of a mix of activities, such as a home visit to a local farmer or fisherman, a cooking class or helping a traditional family make a meal, a horseback ride, an e-bike ride, for examples.

My husband and I couldn't help but compare this tour with another excellent tour we took last year (to Chile and Argentina), run by a different company. It also was a small group: 14 people. The bus that we rode in was not driven by our guide. Our guide's time and attention was completely dedicated to us, the tourists. This seems like a better model.
I'd give 4.5 stars if I could; it was a great tour, but could use some minor improvements.

Trekking the Tien Shan mountains, Kyrgystan (June 26). YellowWood team were akways on hand and very responsive to any queries. This trip was an incredible experience from start to finish with some great local services (city guide and trekking guide were excellent). The YW team work hard to ensure the best experirnces for their customers and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them (as a solo traveller) for an off the beaten track adventure of a lifetime. Thank you.

A very well organised trip by Yellow Wood Adventures. Their UK team is particularly responsive to any queries during the trip.
Our city guide in Bishkek was wonderfully informative, and sympathetic to the group’s tiredness took us to a fabulous cafe for a much needed and delicious coffee.
Our stop at the Burana tower en route to Karakol again was guided, well informed and very interesting.
All restaurants and meals were well chosen and very much enjoyed and all of our drivers prompt, courteous and friendly.
The Green Yard in Karakol was a lovely place to stay, rooms may be a little dated but showers were amazing, staff were lovely, food delicious and beautiful gardens and orchard around the property.
As for the trekking, what spectacular and incredible scenery. We were blessed with exceptionally good weather which obviously was the icing on the cake, but it is just stunning. Alps on steroids with wild flowers galore and beautiful horses and non of the usual infrastructure.
Maks, our guide, may be a man of relatively few words unless pestered by questions from the group, but very capable and experienced. Due to the exceptional weather and small group size he slightly altered the itinerary so that we camped next to higher altitude lakes rather than the valleys mentioned in the itinerary. This really made the trip for us.
Camp food was plentiful and tasty, with hot stews in the evening much appreciated.
The following criticisms are minor in comparison to the rest of the trip but worth a mention.
Day 2 in Tyrgon valley, we were disappointed to find a relatively large and busy road next to our campsite with big trucks noisily going past every 15 minutes or so. The valley was still beautiful but it kind of ruined the ‘ wild camping’ vibe. Partly as we weren’t expecting it, we think Yellow Wood should make mention of it in the itinerary so that people are prepared to encounter it.
As a group we also found Altyn Arashan yurt camp disappointing. Maks did try to prepare us for it but again Yellow Wood should probably try to give a more realistic portrayal/ description of it in the itinerary. The indoor yurts were luxurious but not at all what we were expecting and we were very grateful to Maks for making arrangements to switch to outside yurts, one for boys and one for girls, as we weren’t thrilled about all being crammed into one indoor yurt.
Everything came good though and as my overall rating is 5 stars, these are minor criticisms.
The 4x4 trip back to Karakol was something else, scarily brilliant, the driver deserves a medal!
With hindsight I would highly recommend an extra day in Bishkek at the beginning of the trip to recover from travel and to see more of the city as it is impossible to cover it all on the guided tour.
I feel very privileged to have visited such a spectacular country, thank you Yellow Wood.

YellowWood took care of our entire trip with a stop in Istanbul and tours of the city to a 7 day trekking adventure in Kyrgystan. Great itinerary, guides and super responsive throughout the trip!

We had the most incredible experience in Georgia, and a huge part of that was thanks to our amazing guide Seseli and our wonderful driver Nico.
We travelled as a group of four friends from London, and from the moment we arrived, Seseli made us feel completely at home. She is not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also genuinely kind, warm, and thoughtful. She brought Georgia to life for us its history, traditions, culture, and way of life. Thanks to her, we didn’t just see the country, we truly understood it. Her passion and care made every day special, and she went above and beyond to make sure we had the best possible experience.
Nico was equally fantastic. He made every journey smooth, safe, and comfortable, no matter the distance. Always calm, friendly, and accommodating, he played a huge role in making the entire trip effortless and enjoyable. We always felt in such good hands.
Together, they made the perfect team. We saw so much, experienced so much, and created memories we’ll never forget. Georgia is an absolutely beautiful country with a rich and fascinating culture, and we feel so lucky to have experienced it with such incredible people.
This was truly one of the best trips we’ve ever had thank you, Seseli and Nico, for making it so special. We couldn’t recommend them more highly!

This was a fabulous trip. Honestly had no idea what kind of hiking to expect in Canary Islands and it exceeded my expectations! The scenery, geology , meteorology was all stunning. I said WOW, more times than I can remember
Our group was very small and made for a fun flexible experience. The guides ( we had two due to scheduling) were both fantastic — very different styles and that made it interesting.
Only complaint was one hotel/inn had a leaky toilet and shower — water on the floor and a very musty smell. It was just one night — I survived 😎 no big deal.
Overall, if you love challenging hiking, changeable weather, stunning scenery, volcanoes, forests, and sea coast, I would highly recommend this trip.
Also the support team in the UK are fabulous! Friendly, responsive and helpful.

I joined the Undiscovered Oman: People and Landscapes tour as a solo female traveller, and would recommend Oman as a travel destination. YellowWood was very responsive to any queries I had and organized a tour that covers major points of interest you would be interested in seeing. Our tour guide Riad has some serious travel credentials and culinary skills - he was absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable. Our drivers were highly skilled, helpful, and delightful to be around. This was a very active tour in that we were always on the move, hiking (moderate difficulty) and swimming. The landscapes and structures we saw (e.g., mosques, fort) were gorgeous and the accommodations in Nizwa and Misfat Al Abryeen were particularly stunning.

It was a great tour with very varied landscapes. Highlights were seeing sunrise above the mist in the desert and snorkeling with turtles. We also spent time in Muscat and the mountains, staying in a lush oasis. Would definitely recommend it. The guide Riad and the drivers were excellent.

Our drivers who were such fun and amazing! And my fellow travellers were great too! We had fun. Definitely recommended!

I joined a wonderful group of people on a fantastic trip through Oman. Our guide and drivers were so informative and fun to travel with. This is my second trip with YellowWood. They are a very helpful and friendly team who take you through every step of the way. They have such a wide variety of well thought out journeys. I definitely plan to go on another one of their trips!

The trip covered a huge variety of aspects of Oman. We stayed in authentic, varied accommodation, including 2 nights of desert camping. Our guide was well-informed and worked tirelessly to accommodate and look after our group, supported by our excellent tour drivers. My highlight was snorkelling with turtles and other amazing sea life. Loved it!

Thank you to Yellowwood Adventures for putting together a trip to Ethiopia, a country I have always felt drawn to.
The sights, smells and sounds of this amazing city will stay with me forever thanks to my wonderful guide Abiy whose knowledge, support and humour gave me such a real and special close up of Ethiopian culture. Travelled to Patagonia with YellowWood and UK guide, Caroline McCann. Excellent trip with many and varied activities from hiking, rafting, visiting an estancia & meeting local people, seeing penguins in the wild, and travelling from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia, via El Chalten & El Calafate, and with a day in Chile. As always, it's the guide that makes the trip, and Caroline ensured that the trip was a roaring success. Will certainly travel with Caroline again.

Everything ran smoothly. The activities were so much fun. The people doing the activities were very good at it. The food was great. The hotels were exceptional. YellowWood Adventures did a great job setting this holiday up for us. A great holiday. Thanks YellowWood!!!

Excellent and experienced ex-pat guide on the trip who fitted in brilliantly with the group and interfaced very well with local agents and guides.

Accommodation was mostly very good.

The itinerary was as promised, except where weather dictated modification due to safety concerns. Safety and well being of the party was top priority.

A huge variety of experiences were packed into the time: mountain treks, wildlife excursions, visits to estancias, river canoeing, glacier experiences etc. I got to see in person Fitzroy and Cerro Torre peaks, and the Three Towers of Paine...a goal for many years.
