I almost used XS Shipping and am extremely relieved I didn’t. The entire experience felt like a bait-and-switch from the beginning. They market themselves like a discount shipping company, but by the time all the add-ons and “estimate adjustments” start rolling in, the pricing ends up close to full-service rates.

Every step of the process involved another excuse to increase the quote -dimensions, weight, pallet height, extra fees for using a credit card, etc. Even though the pallets themselves never changed size, they kept finding ways to justify charging more. Multiple other sea shippers told me the vertical pallet height wasn’t even a meaningful issue for ocean freight, yet XS used it as another reason to inflate costs.

The whole thing felt like the Spirit Airlines business model: lure people in with an attractive initial price, then nickel-and-dime them with endless fees afterward. It came across as greedy, underhanded, and intentionally misleading.

Afterward, I looked through their reviews more carefully and noticed a pattern: many glowing reviews felt questionable, while the detailed negative reviews described the exact same issues I experienced hidden costs, pricing surprises, and lack of transparency.

I wasted a lot of time dealing with this company. Thankfully, I realized what was happening before signing anything. Proceed carefully.

Avoid this service, especially with Jessie Saint-Cyr and Ralph. They will offer the bare minimum in support when soliciting a quote and then offer a quote that doesn't include the final fees and taxes imposed by the destination country so once your package is received you will be hit with taxes/fees that 2x to 3x your initial quote. As a global service you would think they would understand this but they refused to acknowledge this or offer a solution. You've been warned.

Moving back to South Africa from the USA was a stressful experience during covid but Ralph and team at Xsbaggage were amazing. My boxes were packed into a wooden crate in Hawaii and arrived at my home in Durban sealed and undamaged. All my sensitive music studio equipment was exactly how I had packed it. Great prices and exceptional service. Definitely a 5 star experience and I would highly recommend Xsbaggage for your international move. Safe travels. Jayshree Mallaya

For more than one month I was in contact with XS Baggage to ship books and other personal belongings to Brazil. Everything seemed to be fine until they started to provide the service. At first, FedEx was the company hired for the service, but after 2 days of waiting for the pickup, an employee from an obscure company was not even identified. Then, they tricked me by saying I "misunderstood" and I ended up paying almost 400 hundred dollars more for shipping fewer boxes. However, this was not enough as of today I am still spending money because several fees that were supposed to be included in the estimate they provided me were not and only now are emerging out of the blue but I have no option other than paying otherwise my things will be destroyed. DON'T TRUST XS BAGGAGE: unreliable unprofessional and dishonest.
