It’s understood that there is never an absolute guarantee of success when outsourcing IP licensing to an external agent. However, in this case, the experience was extremely disappointing and felt exploitative.
Despite demanding an upfront fee of more than £2,000, the group merely produced a generic “prospect list” and provided no meaningful follow-up, no outreach, and not even a single arranged meeting with any potential licensee. For inventors who are already financially stretched—having invested heavily in IP filings, prototyping, and early commercialisation—such behaviour feels like taking advantage of their vulnerability.
Overall, the service delivered was unacceptable and reflects a predatory model that preys on inventors hoping to commercialise their ideas.

I contracted this company to find a license for my idea. The person I spoke with on the phone appeared very professional and seemed well-suited for the task. I paid £2,200 for their services, and they provided me with an extended timeline of six months for results. However, they did mention that there was no guarantee of finding a company to license my idea. Ultimately, they confirmed that they were unable to do so, and the entire experience felt somewhat unsettling once the payment was made.
They did not request any product samples, so I intentionally created a very unprofessional-looking demo to showcase the product's capabilities. I assumed they would at least produce a polished version to present to contractors. After six months, they made no effort to reach out to me. I sent them multiple emails, which apparently went unnoticed until I spoke with someone over the phone. They informed me they were unable to find anyone interested and provided an example of just one company they had contacted. I asked if they had a demo they had created, but they said they had none. When I requested a list of companies they had reached out to, after three weeks and several email inquiries, they finally responded with a few random companies, but without any evidence of having contacted them.
I still believe that the job was not done properly, or perhaps not done at all. It is extremely frustrating to pay such a large sum and feel as though you have been scammed.

This company was recommended to my partner as he had designed a product which he needed to licence to market. He paid an initial fee of £2220. The agreement was for a six month period which was to be then reviewed.

Charlie, a director at Wayfair Group sounded professional, genuine and enthusiastic and stated that he was looking forward to “working” with him.
It was a disappointing experience to say the least!

After two months he had to call Charlie for feedback, he was then sent him an update from Mark who was head of research and had been assigned to find a licensing company. Mark stated in a forwarded email that my partner received from Charlie that it was now the right time to be working on my product! So two months had elapsed without any progress at all!

Several months after this he had to chase for a further update. Mark stated in an email my partner received from Charlie that he required fresh information regarding my product and it was clear that initial product information had not been forwarded to him. My partner then re forwarded all information back to Charlie (video of prototype and product specification).
Another four months wasted!

My partner tried to contact Charlie by email and telephone (and left messages with reception) but he failed to respond to any communication.
He sent Charlie a final email detailing his disappointment regarding lack of communication. He was given no information regarding companies supposedly contacted, no review as stated in the contract and then ghosted when he requested a breakdown of services provided. My partner was left wondering what information had been sent or to who.

Following this he discovered speaking to several chartered patenting companies, that they too had recommended this company in the past to clients.
They had also received poor feedback and because of this they are no longer recommending Wayfair Group’s services.

A shocking and unprofessional way to run a business.
Wasted money and valuable time was spent with Wayfair Group!

In order to improve client experience Wayfair Group need to communicate much better and treat clients in a professional and caring manner.
