Ignoring referrals
Was referred by a GP and a specialist doctor who said my situation should definitely be discussed through a talking therapy. Well, apparently this service didn't think so, as they only asked irrelevant questions about self-harm and discharged me as soon as possible, after having to wait multiple weeks on the waiting list, which, according to their website, doesn't exist. Very well.
The agent didn't have the decency to…
The agent didn't have the decency to talk in an understanding and caring way. "This is what your company has signed upto. If you have any issues, take it up with them." was the summary of the phone call I had with them. I tried the online chat option. "Sorry but our team are busy at present. Please remember you can call the helpline 24/7 for assistance on 0800 111 6387 or wait for a team member to become available" it said.
It's a Con job
It's a Con job. They get paid for making appointments by the NHS, i.e. us, and then don't make them and thereby 'work' from home doing nothing but lunching
Avoid this organisation
Decided to self refer for talking therapies via the NHS. I'm going through a very challenging time in life with a serious illness and a recent bereavement of close family member. Either one of these would be huge, but both together is very challenging. So I reached out for some help.
I was booked in for an assessment where I explained exactly what my current situation is. I was called a week later and told I wasn't able to have counselling. Not put me on a waiting list, nothing. Really? How much worse does it need to be before you 'qualify' for counselling with this awful organisation.
It takes a lot to reach out and ask for help and when it's thrown back in your face by the very people who should be helping you, it's disgraceful. Avoid using them, you will hope for help and only end up feeling unsupported.
Try them yourself. My experience was fantastic
I was recommended Leicester Talking Therapy by a colleague when I mentioned how Anxious I was. I did the easy self referal and then read the TP reviews. I was horrified and thought about not going through with the assessment. I am so pleased, however, that I did, as I could not fault the service from the moment I self referred.
Going through the assessement was difficult for me, due to the reasons I was applying in the first place, but the lady I spoke to was lovely and reassuring and totally understanding. We decided that 121 telephone appointments would be best for me. She explained that the wait list was about 8 weeks, but that dated to when I applied in November, so I was well on the way at assessment stage in December. I was quite surprised that the course was 6 weeks for half an hour at a time and still couldn't understand how that would help, in any way, but as the treatment was free, I couldn't really say no!
In January I was offered appointments to suit and I began CBT therapy for Generalised Anxiety Disorder and I have to say, I could not have been more wrong about how successful the treatment is and how quickly it works. Each week I was sent a questionnaire to complete about how I had been feeling and this was reviewed by the therapist prior to our meeting. The therapist introduced herself and explained how the session would run, so I knew what to expect.
The homework given each week is the actual tools you need to work through your anxiety and begin to gain control over your thoughts and each week you built on the week before.
I really pushed myself each week and felt better by the day. I wished that I'd signed up years ago, and had the tools learnt to deal with the worries I had.
I think I had 5 sessions in total, with session 1 being session 0, so within 4-5 weeks my life has transformed. I feel amazing and we agreed that it was time to discharge from therapy and we put a plan in place to ensure my ongoing well being with the caveat that I could always self refer and their door is always open.
In less than 3 months from referral I have never felt better, nor more supported and it hasn't cost me a penny!
It's so sad to read the reviews on this page, as my experience could not have been any different. We do like to write a negative review and generally say nothing when something goes well. I urge you to try the service and not let the reviews on here put you off. Try them yourselves and you might find yourself in a better place, wishing you, too, had reached out sooner.
This place is awful.
The worst mental health service I have EVER had experience with - they push vulnerable people into a worse state of mind. I have GAD and was sent here to receive CBT. All I did in the very few sessions I had were the questionnaires because they would forget to send me the link which would eat into the appointment time. They also forgot to send me the homework so I was left refreshing the inbox multiple times trying to find it and panicking because I was told if I didn’t engage with the homework I wouldn’t receive treatment… even though it wasn’t sent to me?!?! So it actually made my anxiety worse. They’re typically curt over the phone. Worst of all, I was told my needs were too complex in the end.
It’s a shame this service is so bad. Shame on the people who call themselves ‘professionals’ here.
No help service
I would give no stars if I could. They have and continue to let my both depressed and anxious husband down. Counsellors (two so far) go off sick never to return and when that happens there seems to be no other help available for an indeterminate time . Mh provision in this country is patchy to say the very least.
Another example of sickening private encroachment on healthcare
"A referral has been made in your name to the NHS Derbyshire Talking Therapies Service. We aim to contact you within 3 working days to complete the registration process and book your Assessment."
Three MONTHS later I was invited to book an assessment in a month's time. Is this what we hand over tax payer money to the private sector for? To be fobbed off, ripped off, and exploited for nothing more than financial gain? My favourite part is the reminder of how much I would cost the NHS for missing, yet no mention of how much profit is skimmed off the top before they start providing a barebones and pathetic 'service'. The website lists COVID protocol as important, which I guess shows you how much attention they pay to updating any of their NHS services. I'm sick of mental health patients being outsourced to become nothing but cash cows for these companies.
Not much to say about this company
Not much to say about this company. It's deplorable how so many people are treated. Once you realise that Jesus is the only way to solve every issue we all have in this world you'll eventually find the peace you've all been looking for. He is the missing piece inside us all that searches our whole life "for the next best thing to make us happy!" No one and no thing will ever be able to satisfy you or heal you like your creator can. He healed my mental health in weeks. I invited Him in to my life and to guide me for the rest of it. Following Him has been the best decision I've ever made. God bless you that's just read this. Doubting my words? Ask Him to show you if I'm telling the truth.
NHS privatization disaster
I wrote a review some time ago about this shocking, alienating service. In summary - if I was desperate and reaching out for a life line I can honestly say the triage experience might have pushed me over the edge.
I was called back following the review by a customer service rep from vita. They said they wanted to follow up on the previous experience - perhaps prompted by the review. I said ok. The rep said they would put me on hold to find my details. The line went dead. That's the last I heard from them. dystopian.
I've struggled with my mental health since then. I can't help thinking that if this was properly funded and run in house by the NHS, instead of being handed over as a cash cow for some greedy corporation to take advantage of public money and the parlous state of people's mental health, perhaps I'd be on the road to recovery now. Revoke the licence and bring this service into public ownership please.
I would give a no star review if I…
I would give a no star review if I could.
My GP suggested I approached Vitaminds when I was getting bullied at work and by a flatmate. I was on the waiting list for 3 years. In which time my mental health had plummeted and the pandemic had begun. I was given an awful therapist for CBT who talked about herself and her own problems, didn't explain what she was asking for in our sessions and yelled at me in our final session.
I put in a complaint asking for a different therapist and telling them about the self involvement and issues the therapist had. They told me I had to leave, reapply in 6 months and go on the waiting list again. It took 4 years for me to then just give up and come off the waiting list as I had severe SI, Long Covid and had to leave Bristol as I lost me home.
I went from someone with a minor mental health problem to now having major ones and getting no help at all. I know our mental health services are not coping, but if the government sees this then there is a problem. There are people who cannot afford £50+ sessions to see a therapist. And there are very bad therapist out there. If you have bad mental health DO NOT become a therapist, please! It does not help us.
On waiting list since March and now…
On waiting list since March and now It's November. Still a number of months but won't tell why. Luckily I am now employed and my company gives me private GP access and private counselling service. NHS and this company yet again don't care about patients. If you are in a bad place this is not the place to try.
I would give 0 if I could
I would give 0 if I could. Go else where. They don’t care about mental health, they neglect their patients. They do not deserve their jobs.
I have done nothing but chase for help. They would’ve helped if they cared.
If I could give 0 I would
If I could give 0 I would.
Was advised to self refer for counselling following a life changing accident and a diagnosis of PTSD and depression as a result of it. Spent 8 months on a waiting list, I was contacted but never given more than 24 hours notice of an available appointment which when you are seeing multiple healthcare professionals all at once is not a feasible option. There was always a caveat to their appointments, they could see me for one session now but then couldn't continue treatment for another 4 weeks in the future, which is ridiculous, and they don't give you any option or potential to book anything in advance! Ironic given they were able to delay appointments for 4 weeks so they clearly had availability in the future.
I've never dealt with any service that is supposedly there to help you but who makes it impossible to actually access the help around day to day lives.
They don't work weekends and rarely work in the evenings, so clearly mental health issues are only a problem from Monday-Friday 9-5!
Don't waste your time on their wait lists, seek help elsewhere. Maybe another service will have an ounce of compassion and actually be able to help you.
This service is not fit for purpose
This service is not fit for purpose. My friend was in the middle of therapy and was told that her therapist would be going on holiday for a week. When she was due to return my friend was told her appointment would be rearranged because she was off sick. FOUR WEEKS later and my friend has had zero communication and after contacting Vita health twice is still no further forward. This is disgusting treatment of patients. Vita health have a duty of care that they are NOT adhering to. To leave a client abandoned in the middle of therapy is not only unprofessional but also unacceptable practise. DO NOT trust this company with your mental health. There are other service providers that you can get access to via your own GP. After working in mental health for over 30 years, I cannot believe that this organisation is allowed within a 5 mile radius of a client.
Lost faith in humanity
Ex employee as of Friday
Loved the work, loved the patients and loved most of my colleagues
Whilst working there there was an issue of lateness. I went to the GP who raised concerns over an incorrectly prescribed pill. It should never have been prescribed over six months but I had been on it since 2021 and it was on repeat…..side effects are horrendous if you are given CYCLIZINE from your GP please be careful and read the leaflet, ….
….extreme fatigue was one side-effect along with loss of concentration, dry mouth, sneezing, twitchy face, migraines and irrational reactions to things. Once I stop taking the medication. I was given another chance and obviously two weeks later still under the influence there was another incident of lateness (15 mins) I was then sacked
When I’m wrong I say I’m wrong , But I did not knowingly or intentionally be late and as soon as I realised it was an incorrectly prescribed tablet, I stopped taking it and allowances should’ve been made. Bearing in mind it could still be in my system
I asked for support from team Leads and HR met with me three times and there was no improvement in the overall treatment of colleagues in the workplace ,I am not the only one who felt this way, a friend is still there taking the odd day off for illness or stress at the treatment
they Are not very complicated systems, but there is an awful lot there with so many patients and contracts and procedures.
Since I had worked there (7 months) 5 people either left or were dismissed and now they are advertising for recruiting for 20 more
The NSC team is 20 and I am concerned there will be more people feeling like me in 6 months time.
It was not My fault. I thought the company would be more understanding and I did nothing but my best …on calls apart from the odd one or two they were all graded A1 and if anyone spoke to a Lisa from Manchester and we had a lovely conversation and a laugh I’m sorry I won’t be able to do that anymore !! One pt described me as an asset and it made me feel valued
I had more positive feedback from patients than I did from my management and during my time there I Felt useless and adequate !!!
As previously mentioned I went to HR 3 times and felt outnumbered and overpowered in meetings and when I asked if I could have representation they said no that it wasn’t that kind of meeting
All I knew is how I felt overall during my time there and although I would not ever want to go back and risk being treated like that again (as it was continuous and nothing I said made a difference) I want to warn others, make my concerns known and have a chance to say one last goodbye to any of the wonderful patients I spoke to and assisted.
As an ex police officer I have a natural caring nature and take in to account anyone’s feelings, situations and circumstances especially if it’s Incorrectly prescribed medication with disastrous side-effects, but after experiencing the workplace at Vita Health Group I can honestly say I have lost faith in their humanity as an employer
My own mental health has deteriorated since working there
They set me up to fail !!!
And at my age a single parent with a 14-year-old son the treatment of me disgusting
I treat my dogs better !!!
Would have given 5 stars for my coach…
Would have given 5 stars for my coach but then deserted me basically.
Rang vitaminds some time ago and was told either my coach or someone from office will call me back on following monday. No one called. They are not even replying to my gps messages. Awful. Just been left with my condition. Lost for words
One of the most shockingly incompetent…
One of the most shockingly incompetent management teams in healthcare today. Absolutely unethical and ruthless with staff leading to poor patient experience and profit driven care.
Private medical patient, poor service
Was referred to them by my health insurance company to get physio for a frozen shoulder. They then referred me to a third party physio which was fine. Had 10 sessions but they then advised my shoulder getting wor and I needed to see a consultant for injections. They submitted reports back to vita group saying this and so far it's been 3 weeks for Vita to sort out the referral.i have called the multiple times and just get fobbed off. Yesterday had a call from them and they said they will refer me back to insurance to see consultant and I would have the referral within 24hrs. Now over 24hrs and still no referral and another call where they will chase it.
Awfull service, especially for a private patient. Would not like to be NHS patient.
Abandoned
I was having session with a therapist for some minor problems. When a health problems arose in my health unexpectedly and my mental health seriously deteriorated , the therapist decided to “pass my case to a colleague”. She didn’t carry out the session and no one else contacted me. It has been few weeks. Absolutely abominable level of care. Avoid !
