The worst customer service I have ever…
The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Lounge measured incorrectly so left with a strip down the side of the room which had a huge gap down the middle and was not even the same colour. Every room we had done the carpet was rippled and not fitted correctly. Had to wait two months for it to be refitted which completely took the shine off the new house we had just moved into. I Was told the vinyl I had ordered would be fitted free of charge. The fitter who turned up said he knew nothing about it and couldn't fit it on that day and we would have to pay for this. He even said he didn't know about the complete job until the day before even though it had been booked in for two months! I was told he would be back on Monday to fit it. Lunch time I get a call saying he can't come now as a member of staff have rang in sick. Safe to say I was not impressed and none of the staff seem bothered at all. When the vinyl was fitted we noticed something sharp had been left underneath and was coming through straight away. Gave up even bothering to contact the shop again so my dad had to take the vinyl back up and refit. So something that was being done as a "goodwill gesture" ended up being more trouble than it was worth and my dad ended up doing it anyway. The skirting boards had also been left damaged. And talk about waste carpet. I have never seen so much waste in all my life which we had to dispose of!

Will definitely be using again
We were given expert advise when choosing the carpet/underlay. The gentleman was non pushy, and even though we had the measurements he said he would come out and measure himself that way there would be no errors.
The fitters were efficient and tidy and gave great advise on the upkeep

Distressed!…You need to read this
I Chose United carpets for a full house carpet refit because they had the exact carpet within budget I wanted. Dealt with two advisers who gave an initial cost from my measurements £1805 worse case scenario. Then when they came out and remeasured this increased the price but we still agreed. (However, we have a min of 15m2 in off cuts in our spare room now as they leave it for you to dispose of ) ?? Date and time for fitting was arranged and fitter arrived on time . The house was unfurnished there were just a few decorating items in one room so the fitter could start immediately . Everything was going fine until my partner who was working away rang me to ask the fitter for his payment details to send him the £415 he was charging ……
I went to him and asked for his bank details and got the most unexpected response that really unnerved me to say the least !!
He threw his work tools out of his hand, down my stairs changed his demeanour and then shouted at me aggressively in my own home because he said it was previously arranged I would pay cash only ????? … And he wasn’t giving any bank details to me …and told me to go to a cash machine …I got extremely distressed and scared by this change of behaviour. I told him not to shout at me in my own home and I was on a call to my partner who heard everything. I went to my car for safety and called United carpets. They still wanted cash and only cash I explained I work in a bank and transfer is safer for both parties anyway, and is good as cash because I was paying half way through the job so his money would be there immediately !!! She was really rude to me even though I was crying by this point, she was totally ignoring the fact he had been abusive to me for just asking if I could pay him and wasnt concerned about my wellbeing she had the same attitude and condoned the aggressive nature because I asked to transfer not give cash ??? I did eventually get a call back from this advisor after she had contacted my partner who explained it was bank transfer today or cash when he returned home from work the following day. She then explained the fitter had no bank details to give me in the first place ?? and he was under stress but they could give me a strangers bank details to pay his fitting fee into on his behalf.? So I took these off the United Carpets saleswoman and paid the invoice into this ..Moral of the story I would never ever want anyone to feel the way I did that day in their own home ..not because I refused to pay fitting but because I didn’t have CASH ! There is and never will be any excuse for being abused in your own home

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review. I am sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your experience and upon speaking with the store I would like to respond to some of the issues you raised.
With regards to the change in price; the initial change in price was due to the difference in the room measurements provided when you got your quote in store and the measurements our team took when they came to measure your home. (There are often some discrepancies between supplied measurements and actual room sizes, which is why we are aways keen to double check the measurements.) However, the new price of your flooring was then subsequently discounted by around £500. With regards to the offcuts you mentioned, carpets are manufactured in set lengths (usually 4m wide) and offcuts are a normal part of having carpets fitted, particularly with the size of the job in your home with around 85㎡ of carpets laid.
When you were in store the need for a cash payment to the fitter was discussed at point of purchase and again when your fitting was booked, it was also confirmed on the phone for a third time when your appointment was confirmed.
The request for a cash payment was explained to you as the fitter had some issues with fraudulent activity on their account. However, when it became apparent you were unable to do this the store manager spoke on the phone with yourself directly, your husband and the fitter and liaised with all of you to facilitate the payment to a different account (a family member of the fitter) I am sure you can appreciate that the payment does have to be made and verified on the day of fitting, so could not be made the following day.
With regards to the store managers handling of your complaint. She did confirm that although you were distressed when you called, she did stay on the phone with you for an extended period of time (around 2 hours in total), offered to remove the fitter from your home (once he had collected his tools), find an alternative fitter to complete the work or come to your home to supervise the completion of the job to ensure that you were comfortable with the work and the completion of the fitting. All of which you assured her was not necessary and that you wanted the original fitter to continue the work. Once the work was completed the store manager did also confirm that you were OK and happy with the finished product.
Again, I am sorry that you were unhappy with your experience with us. Our team work hard to ensure that all our customers receive excellent service and it is disappointing to see that, despite their extensive efforts to resolve this, you were unhappy with your overall experience.

Supply problems
I am currently waiting for my 3rd fitting date. As each approaches I get a call to say that there is a problem at the supplier end. This may well be the case, but doesn't help me with a bathroom that has been stripped back and ply-lined ready and is currently not a pleasant room to use.

A stressful week...
The salesman was extremely good and helped us to choose laminate flooring.
Unfortunately, I was told that the fitter couldn't make Monday but would be able to do Tuesday. No show on the Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, as there were no fitters available. Eventually, a fitter arrived on the Friday.
It was my annual leave and I couldn't go anywhere but wait.
It was a stressful week that I wouldn't want to go through again.

Bit of a delay with fitting due to the weather but 2 days late fitters attended and did a superb job and so far very pleased with the carpet we chose for our living room. We have used united carpets on many occasions before and always a top job and great staff.

very disappointed rdered a stairs carpet from this store…
Ordered a stairs carpet from this store after speaking to the sales man ,
1/ A mid range carpet 10 year guarantee ??
2/ Free underlay
3/ Free fitting
As we are in our mid 70s we decided to place an order as we thought this was with in our budget .
1/ The carpet was what we ordered .
2/ The underlay put down was 7mm not the 10mm I was led to believe when discussed when ordering which is not fit for purpose cheap rubbish .
3/ Free fitting , I paid the carpet fitter £78.00 cash for fitting (I hope he has paid tax on that ? ) not only that as well as me taking up the old carpet and underlay as requested by the sales man, the fitter left all his off cuts and rubbish for me to dispose of . I phoned the store to complain , spoke to a young lady who told me that the sales man is not available but she will have a conversation with him and get back to me , well I'm still waiting . Where's my 10 year guarantee ? Your advertising out side your store is miss leading , your after sales support is nun existing , Might be a case for trading standards .
