Absolutely terrible service

Absolutely terrible service. The skip has been sitting on my property for more than two months and despite countless phone calls, I keep getting the same excuses — “tomorrow”, “next day”, “next week” — and nobody ever turns up.

At one point they even claimed they had no equipment available to collect the skip, then asked me if I “understand”. No, I don’t understand how a skip company can’t collect its own skip after more than two months.

For the past week nobody has answered the phone at all. I’ve left multiple messages and every single one has been ignored.

Completely unreliable, poor communication, and no respect for customers or their property. I would strongly advise people to avoid this company.

Update - We have no record of this customer and they have not responded to our request for further info we can only assume another ' self-entitled keyboard warrior or bot ' trying to damage a small business

We've checked our records, and we can not find any booking under your name in our system.

Our office is open and staffed Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30. If our lines are busy or it is outside of these hours, we have a voicemail system in place, but we have no recorded messages from you. We also have no record of any emails or webchats under your details.

It is possible you have booked through a third-party or perhaps with a different company?

We have requested further information from you via Trustpilot so we can investigate this properly and confirm if it was booked with us or another company

No refund processed

After ordering a skip and paying for the parking permit, the skip didn’t arrived on the timescale agreed. I ended up cancelling the order, been told the payment for the parking permit is non refundable- which is fine to me, however after multiple calls to get the refund for the skip payment never received the money back. Everybody is nice when speaking with them over the phone however nothing gets sorted.

Thank you for your feedback, Vasil. Whilst we accept all feedback, we expect it to be a true and accurate reflection of events.
You ordered and paid for a skip but failed to advise us that the skip was being placed on the public highway and as such a permit is needed from the council for us to do this.
As explained to you at the point of ordering that once we apply for the permit the fee is non-refundable and that the timescales are dictated by the council.
When you cancelled your order, the permit was in progress but had not been approved so we could not deliver the skip as we would get fined again this was explained to you, however you decided to cancel your order.
A refund was agreed for the skip only which is processed by the finance department. We refund back by the same payment method so if you pay by card, it gets refunded back to the card. I can confirm that the refund has been done at our end however depending on card issuer it may take 3-5 days to return back to your account. We have no control over this so I would suggest that you contact you card issuer directly. If you wish to discuss further please contact us on 03000 309978 or email info@theskipcompany.co.uk

The driver was not very helpful and getting charged £130 for waste of time the only waste of time is this company avoid

Thank you for the feedback Chris.
We were unable to deliver the skip that you have ordered today as access was not suitable for a skip lorry. As we could not access your property and place the skip on the drive, you identified an area on the grass at the front of the property.
We were unable to place the skip here as
1) This is not your property
2) It is maintained & owned by the council.
You were then advised that we would need to obtain a skip permit to place on the grass or road which is an additional cost as we have to pay the council for this.
You declined this option and requested to cancel the skip and have a refund.
The driver was not being unhelpful by not placing the skip on the grass as requested, as had he done so we would have been fined by the local authority.
When you placed your order we rely on your skill and judgement as to the suitability of all approach roads, tracks, or grounds, for the purposes of delivery, sitting and collection of skips and to notify us at the time of ordering the service of any special requirements as to delivery.
As we attempted to deliver the skip and were unable to do so through no fault of our own we charged you a wasted journey to cover our costs.

Their Advert says Cheapest Prices. actually its really expensive compared to surrounding area prices. False advertising. Stay away.

The cost of a skip can fluctuate and a number of factors influence the final price, such as the type of waste that you wish to get rid of, the size of the skip that you want to hire & your location to name but a few.

Our pricing is regularly checked and is very competitive in the market in which we operate.

Consumers will always have choice but when it comes to waste collection & disposal it is worth noting that - Anyone who produces, imports, keeps, stores, transports, treats or disposes of waste must take all reasonable steps to ensure that waste is managed properly. This duty of care is imposed under section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. A breach of the duty of care could lead to an unlimited fine if convicted.

Our price is always our best price which assures compliance with the Duty of Care Regulations but is given based on the information provided to us by the consumer.

It is subjective whether we are cheap or expensive but there is no intention to mislead or false advertise in anyway.

We provide a price online, over the phone or by email. Quotes and waste advice are free and there is no obligation for anyone to use our services.

The skip was a whole day late

The skip was a whole day late despite me being told twice on the agreed day that it would be there, first at lunchtime and then by 5pm.

When I requested collection I was told I'd be given thirty minutes warning. Then they turned up unannounced at 6:30am on a Monday morning to pick it up.

I'd definitely recommend going directly to a local provider rather than using The Skip Company.

Couldn't see where to reply to the reply, so here it is: I didn't want or need an extended hire period, I wanted a skip on the day I booked it for. I also didn't accept that £37.20 was sufficient compensation for the dreadful service I received. I said on the phone that, and I quote, 'I don't want to be a snarky tw*t online' but that I'd be forced to if a satisfactory refund wasn't offered, which it wasn't. You can't restore my confidence because I would never book with you again and you didn't offer sufficient compensation: if you book something time critical, a 16% refund doesn't really cut it.

Thank you for your feedback we are very sorry that you have been disappointed with our skip hire. We always aim to provide the best possible service at all times, however on this occasion we didn’t deliver. We used the local provider @ETM recycling to undertake this service on our behalf.

As part of our systems we regularly liaise with our supply chain and monitor the daily schedule and the information that we relay back to our customers comes directly from the service provider.

Twice we were provided with ETA’s and assured that the service would take place on the day specified – which unfortunately it didn’t.

I can confirm that the skip was delivered the next day.

Following your request for compensation we liaised with ETM Recycling and you were given an extended hire period with no rental charges and provided with a part-refund £37.20 which you accepted.

Following your request the collection was booked and your instructions were clearly understood and relayed to our supplier ETM Recycling in writing and for reasons unknown they did not comply with them.

They did collect on the correct day but failed to call prior to arrival.

Again we are very sorry for any inconvenience caused as we continuously monitor our supply chain to keep standards high and will log your complaint in our system.

With regard to your latest correspondence on 30th October where you advise that you will leave bad reviews online unless we provide another refund.

I can advise that we do aim to provide customer satisfaction so we liaised with our supplier and unfortunately we confirmed to you that no further compensation would be provided on this occasion.

We would welcome the opportunity to restore your confidence in our services and should you wish to discuss any aspect of your complaint further please do not hesitate to contact us.



In response: Thank you for your further feedback. We are sorry that you feel that the extended hire period and compensation is not sufficient. Unfortunately we could not offer you the £100 that you requested.
We will take on-board your comments and work closer with our local supplier ETM Recycling to improve our service in the future.

This company deserves 0 stars

I would not even give this company one star. I am thoroughly unimpressed by their service and behaviour regarding complaints. Apparently one should not expect them to stand by their word as they will reinterpret conversations to suit themselves.
I shall never use this company again and advise no one else to do so.

Update: TrustPilot have received and accepted proof that I used this service. I do not wish to discuss the matter further with the company.

Any complaint that we receive is logged and investigated. We don’t get always get it right but learn from our mistakes and we openly accept constructive criticism.
It is very disappointing when a review such as this is left particularly as we have not received a formal complaint. We have contacted the reviewer via Trustpilot as we wish to investigate & respond to the allegations that they have made regarding our service. However they refuse to provide us with any information, as such we cannot confirm if they have even used our services and if what they alleged is true!
In the interests of fairness we have reported this review to Trustpilot and provided that we can obtain the information then we would happily investigate and publish the findings publicly.

UPDATE - Thank you for the update. Whilst you advise you have provided Trustpilot with the information that you have used our services it is very disappointing that you still choose not to provide us with the information regarding the review you have left and allow us to respond to your allegations publicly. We have nothing to hide and we publicly ask again that you provide this information to allow us to investigate and respond accordingly.

Having hired a skip through this…

Having hired a skip through this "agent" I was then unable to contact them for 3 days (phone lines went to voicemail) to get them to remove the skip. When i finally did get hold of them they say they "might" collect it today, maybe next week..... their staff are rude when you do finally get hold of them - to be avoided at all costs!! They have totally messed up my building project with delays, and do not seem to care one iota. Very sad way to do business.

Dear Mr Taylor, Thank you for your review and bringing this to our attention. We take all complaints very seriously and we are very sorry if you have not been happy with the service that you have received. Having read your review and investigated there appears to be some inaccuracies and confusion. I will address each point in turn for clarity.

The Skip Company are a national waste broker/ agent our office hours are 08:00-17:00 Monday to Friday during this time we can be contacted via phone, email or webchat. All our calls are logged (whether they are answered or not) and recorded along with web chat transcripts. In the event that our lines are busy, customers can leave a message and we respond back as soon as we can usually within the hour.

Having reviewed our communication systems we have received no telephone calls (based on the number provided) or any other contact from you since you placed your order on Tuesday 11th December until today 14th December via webchat.
I can confirm an 8 yard skip was delivered same day (11th Dec). This was undertaken by our approved supply partner in your area
B&K Environmental Services Ltd.

However in addition I can also advise the following:

Wednesday 12th December at 15:18 we received a call from B&K advising that you had been in touch but they were not sure if you needed an exchange or collection. We immediately called the number that you had provided and unfortunately it was not answered

Thursday 13th December we again called your number at 10:09am & 12:15pm and you did not answer
At 12:59 (13th Dec) we were contacted again by B&K advising that you had been in touch but they were still not sure if you needed an exchange or collection we relayed that we were unable to make contact with you but would try again.
We attempted to call you at 13:02 and 14:41 again on 13th December and again there was no answer.

14th December 9:22 you contacted us via webchat requesting an immediate collection and that you had reported the skip as abandoned to the local council. You were advised that we would try our very best to collect today and if not it would definitely be Monday. To which you respond that you would call your bank to claim your money back then closed the chat.

I am more than happy to put all the evidence of call logs, transcripts and other information into the public domain as we do not agree with your review of our services.


Whilst I appreciate your frustration in this matter unfortunately you have contacted the supplier directly, who work on our instruction and we have been unable to contact you.

All our documentation is clear with our contact details and we pride ourselves on resolving issues quickly for our customers. I can advise that we are working with B&K to get your skip removed as quickly as we can. Skip hire made easy

Renovating our house we now have had a few skips ordered through this company ,easy to order online competitive prices in our area easy to arrange collection.
Thumbs up.

4 yard skip delivered and collected on same day, which was actually better than promised!!
Excellent service and customer care.
£198 inc Vat, best price found for my area.
If you need a skip, give them a go.
