Stunning natural Spa
4* as Reception not very friendly or welcoming.
But otherwise stunning , clean and beautiful experience, highly recommend !! 😁
Not a relaxing spa experience
Not a relaxing spa experience if that's what you're after. Bit like an adult's swimming baths. The roof top pool is cool, but after 5 minutes you're over it and you're not allowed to take photos.
The steam room and sauna were crowded and felt very unclean. Mixed changing rooms and showers. No where really to properly get ready with so many people passing through. Which was a shame as we'd checked out of our hotel.
Place just felt a bit unclean too. If you're looking for a proper spa experience and not just wanting to have a dip in the gimmicky pool then avoid this.
Way too many people per session
Way too many people per session. Way too overpriced for what it was. It wasn’t special and I won’t be returning or recommending. Ever.
Baths biggest scam
Terrible experience we arrived expecting a spa experience what we got however was an over priced swimming pool you can't swim in. They ram it full of people so the only thing you get access to if your lucky is the pool Everytime we went to use one of the rooms it was full of the same people. Hogging it and just looking after their friends this place had so much potential. Staff didn't care either and were rude. Baths best scam they charge high and just fill it with people and then don't care. So many ways this could be improved but then their cash cow wouldn't be as big for them
Awful experience
Awful experience, never again - A Chaotic, dirty, unhygienic, complete waste of money, everything is mixed sex. Avoid at all costs - seedy.
Crowded
Crowded, over priced for what it was, lots of corridors and stairs, showers on a different floor to changing rooms. Changing facilities like a council run pool.. fine, but not what you expect for a spa experience. Towels getting mixed up by the pool. Cafe like a canteen, not worth having the scone and prosecco. Massage was fine, but have had better; felt processed. On the plus side, nice water and view of cathedral and hills was lovely. Booking process was good. Staff were working hard.
Really disappointed
I was so looking forward to going to this, had been wanting to go for ages.
Positives- The staff were really nice, booking had been easy, the pools themselves are lovely. The cold and hot showers in the wellness suite are fab.
Negatives- in the pools there are multiple couples that are being way too intimate. I don’t want to be a fun killer but it was actually gross. I didn’t like the thought of what I was swimming in. No one stops them, but honestly why are people behaving that way, it’s really uncomfortable.
The wellness suite is so incredibly busy, it’s not relaxing at all. The constant opening and shutting of the doors means no room actually gets warm enough. It is just too many people for the facility.
There are robes hanging everywhere and it feels a bit chaotic.
I hate giving low reviews, especially because I don’t blame the staff, but this was just so disappointing, I left after twenty minutes. I wouldn’t recommend and I definitely wouldn’t go again.
However, if you are part of a couple that likes to be intimate in public it’s probably a 5 star!
Okay..
Visited recently with my daughter and our experience was very average. We are local and have visited many times before but it does feel like it's not what it once was...
Booked Twilight package via telephone as I had a voucher and couldn't book online. I didn't receive confirmation so had to call back to confirm. When we arrived we were greeted by a helpful lady in the reception area. The changing rooms were clean and there were plenty of available lockers. With the exception of the lifts (one was out of order), all areas were open and available for us to use, but it certainly didn't feel as clean as it could be, particularly on the stairwell. A sharing platter was included in our experience but this was not enjoyable. We received crackers, with cold meets and cheeses. The crackers were Jacobs crackers, and the juice from the pickles created a soggy mess on the plate. The accompanying wine was awful! Holding out for the desert, and we were left even more disappointed.. it was a basic New York cheese case, with the option of chocolate, strawberry or raspberry sauce! I felt like I was ordering off the kids menu.
Overall, the facilities are good, but there is definite room for improvement in cleanliness and the restaurant.
Disappointing
After a 5hr drive to Bath we were looking forward to a little relaxation before our weekend of sightseeing.
We pre booked and ended up with people with no pre booking getting served before us.
The staff predominantly ignored our presence and got on with their tasks. Changing rooms were a little shabby but clean and there were plenty of lockers. The phone pouch was a suprise but I think this is a great idea.
We were not able to go up to the roof top pool as it was full initially and there were people waiting to get in.
We went to the lower pool which was pretty busy too.
There was very limited places to sit to relax at the lower pool so we went to the terrace bar only to find it was closed and all the seating was locked out of use. The cafe was also pretty full.
We had not been told that there terrace was not in use (we had a 6pm slot, unsure when it closed).
We managed to have a swim and then went to see if we could get into the cafe for a drink where we were told the cafe was closed to walk ins.
We asked where we could get a drink and the staff were very unhelpful and said there was a water fountain downstairs.
At this point we were a bit fed up with a lack of anywhere to sit down and no options for a drink other than water from a communal fountain so we left.
I wouldn’t go again.
One of worst spas I have visited
One of the worst spas I have visited. Changing rooms were filthy, stank and no customer service.
Mixed changing room there website does not state that in there website.
The wellness rooms were filthy, people walking g around without slippers.
Definitely dont recommend.
Super Family Visit
We had a great family day in the Thermae Bath. Thoroughly relaxing and great fun. I left my trainers behind and staff posted them to me without any complications. Thank you and we will definitely visit again.
I’m not sure why this place receives…
I’m not sure why this place receives such negative reviews. We visited over the Easter weekend so expected it be busy, which it was. We didn’t have any problem using the steam rooms, sauna, ice room and pools. Showering afterwards was no problem and they had lovely Elemis shampoo, conditioner and shower gel for customers to use. The pools were great, - busy but not a problem. Footwear is not provided which is made clear on the website and on the booking information. They sell flip flops and slippers pretty cheaply if you don’t have your own and want to wear footwear. If you are offended by others being barefoot just take your own footwear or buy some when you are there - problem solved! We had a lovely, relaxing time. 2 hours felt like enough time and if you want to eat in the restaurant or book treatments they allow additional time for that. They also allow extra time for getting changed either side of your booked time slot. The staff were lovely and helpful. Plenty of lockers available which lock/unlock via a wristband. Changing rooms were maybe a bit in short supply but we managed to find one upon arrival and departure without having to wait, and that was on a busy Bank Holiday weekend. It’s not cheap but I don’t know any spa places that are - we found the experience worth the money. Ignore the negative reviews and give it a try - you might just enjoy yourself.
Friendly cafe team
Special mention for the staff in the cafe, very helpful and friendly. We were on the twilight offer, floating in the open air rooftop pool to watch the sunset followed by a light supper. A very enjoyable evening.
Top 5 Spas I’ve Been To
recently visited Thermae Bath Spa and had such a wonderful experience from start to finish. Rebecca and Craig were incredibly accommodating and welcoming, which made our visit even more special.
Rebecca took the time to walk us through the facilities and explain the history of the spa, which really added to the overall experience. Her knowledge and enthusiasm were evident, and she was so patient in answering all of our questions. Craig was just as friendly and attentive, making sure we felt comfortable and well looked after throughout our time there.
Their professionalism and warmth truly enhanced our visit. It’s clear they both take pride in what they do, and their customer service made a relaxing experience even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend visiting, and if you’re lucky enough to be looked after by Rebecca and Craig, you’re in great hands!
Soggy Carpets, overpriced, bring back normal spa water swimming pool for the people of Bath
Good
Open air pool and covered Minerva pool were lovely. A very nice experience to bathe in the hot, mineral spring water, with a stunning view from the open air pool.
Bad
- soggy carpets in the lifts are disgusting! Why not put a drainable duckboard down instead?
- I checked my locker was closed on 2 occasions and when I returned to it, it was open. Nothing was stolen but the lockers are not a safe place to leave your valuables.
- The Wellness Suite needs a map at the entrance, as it's hard to locate the different rooms once you're inside it. There was no visibility at all in the ice chamber, and almost none in the Georgian steam room, which made it stressful instead of relaxing. The Celestial Relaxation room only had about 5 beds so impossible to find a free one.
- The layout is like a town house, i.e. tall with lots of floors and only 2 lifts (1 was OOO when I visited). It would have been much more relaxing to have it on only 1 or 2 levels, although I understand that isn't possible due to where the hot springs are located.
It would be nice to enjoy swimming in the hot spa water, as you could in the old swimming pool that the Thermae Spa replaced, without having to pay so much for facilities that you can't really even enjoy. Even the Cross Bath is very expensive now. I learnt to swim in those old baths. Why should I have to pay £44 for the privilege now?
Used to be good
When this place opened. A few years ago it was amazing. Sadly now it’s a poor tourist trap. No foot wear provided you have to provide it. Lots of bare feet, unhygienic. Hello verrucas! Staff couldn’t care less. Poor information. Treatments very basic standards. Really sad. Wouldn’t go again or recommend it.
⭐ 1 Star
⭐ 1 Star – Extremely Disappointing Experience & Serious Security Concerns
I visited Bath Thermae Spa on a work wellbeing trip, which should have been a relaxing and enjoyable day. Unfortunately, it turned into a very distressing experience due to the theft of my personal belongings and the lack of support from staff.
I stored my rings inside a small gold pill box in a locked locker, along with my glasses. When I returned, the locker was still closed but was not the same locker I had originally used. My glasses and rings were gone.
My colleagues and I searched everywhere — bags, benches, floors, rubbish bins, laundry bins — but the items were nowhere to be found.
When I reported this to staff, the response was extremely poor. I was handed a notebook and told to record it as “lost property”, despite the fact that the items were clearly stolen from a locked locker. The notebook itself contained the names and phone numbers of previous guests who had also had items taken, which raises serious concerns about both security and data protection.
We asked about CCTV, only to be told the cameras were dummy units. We had to request a manager ourselves, and there appeared to be no proper process for dealing with thefts or supporting guests in these situations. No one offered assistance, and no one offered to contact the police. We were left to handle everything ourselves.
Given the circumstances, this experience has left me with serious concerns about the security of the facilities and the attitude towards guest safety. I have reported the theft to the police and am awaiting a crime reference number.
A wellbeing day should not end like this, and I hope the spa takes these issues seriously for the sake of future guests
Theft Theft Theft
Overall poor. Made worst by theft from a locker, this had to have been opened by a wristband as it was checked and double checked before being left, this points entirely to staff. In reporting said theft absolutely no cares given by staff and a note book handed over to write in, fully able to view all the personal details of the other poor people who have experienced theft there GDPR breach surely? Upsetting experience I would spend your hard earned money elsewhere
My friends wedding ring
My friends wedding ring, engagement and eternity ring were in a little gold pill box and were stolen from her locker today. The staff and managers know this kind of thing goes on as I found a review on Tripadvisor dated Aud 2025 who had had the same thing happen to them. And the staff couldn’t care less. Not their problem. It’s all at your own risk apparently. Well it must be staff that are doing the stealing then.
"No mercy for a 15-day delay
"No mercy for a 15-day delay? Shame! This policy lacks all heart. You'd find more understanding from a stranger than from this university's financial office. It is a shameful practice that punishes students instead of supporting them. Shame on this lack of compassion!"
